Born at Stanburne, he was a son of the late Corey and Ethel (Brown) Langille. He was employed with the Federal Fisheries Department until his retirement in 1994. After his retirement, he went to work for Sears Call Centre on a part time basis. He was a Scout leader and District Commissioner for Harbour West and was a member of the Halifax Police from 1959-1967. He is survived by his wife, Myrtle (Doiron) Langille, Halifax; sons, Terry and his wife Kathy Langille, Guelph, Ontario; Craig and Julie Langille, Peach Land, B.C.; daughters, Darlene and her husband Paul Westhaver, Halifax; Michelle and her husband Craig MacMullin, Sydney; sister, Shirley Silver, Watford; grandchildren, Cameron, Matthew, Justin, Adam, Anna, Corey, and Caitriona. Arrangements have been entrusted to J. Albert Walker Funeral Home, 149 Herring Cove Road, where visitation will be held today 2-4, 7-9 p.m., Sunday 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Funeral service 11 a.m. Monday from the funeral home chapel, Rev. OBIT # 5216 - EASTERN CHRONICLE - February 1940: Pictou's first military funeral of the second Great War was held onTuesday for Sapper FRED MacDONALD, of the Royal Canadian Engineers, who died in a military hospital in Halifax last Saturday following an operation. The service , held in St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, was conducted by Capt.S.B. CAREY, chaplin of the Pictou Highlanders to which MacDonald belonged prior to his transfer to the Engineers. A firing party was provided by the Pictou Highlanders, and six NCO's of the battalion acted as pall bearers. The Lament was played by two members of the pipe band and Bugler STEWART sounded the Last Post and Reveille. Interment was in Laurel Hill cemetery. Deceased was the eldest son of Mr.and Mrs.HOWARD MacDONALD, of Pictou.
UNKNOWN PAPER - FEBRUARY 1977 JAMES J. SUTHERLAND, 75, of The Falls, died Wednesday, Feb. 2, at home. Born at The Falls, he was the son of the late James and Christine (BAILEY) SUTHERLAND. He was a life-long resident of The FALLS and was a farmer and employee of Bonnyman and Byers until his retirement. He was an elder of the Presbyterian Church, The Falls. He is survived by his wife, the former Ola LANGILLE, three daughters, Lita (Mrs. Robbie FERGUSON), The Falls; Mabel (Mrs. Carl BECK), Balfron, and Phyllis (Mrs. Keith YATES) Kamloops, B.C.; two sons: Wilbert, Toronto; and Ivan of Montreal; 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was predeceased by one brother, Daniel, one half brother, William, and one half sister, Jessie. Funeral service was held at The Falls Presbyterian Church on Saturday afternoon with the Rev. Gordon MATHESON officiating. "Amazing Grace" was sung by the choir. Jack COULTER rendered "Good Night and Good Morning." Pallbearers were Reg. Roy Raymond Hubley 1988 Bridgewater Bulletin Roy Raymond Hubley, 73, of Middle Cornwall, passed away Saturday, February 27, 1988, at home. Born at Farmington, he was the son of the late George and Eva (Bezanson) Hubley. Roy was a retired dozer operator, who spent his time visiting people who were sick or shut-in, and he was always ready to help friends,family, or strangers in any way he could. He was a deacon of the Cornwall United Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Frances (Webber); four sons, Harley, Middle Cornwall; Douglas, Upper Cornwall; Raymond, Maitland; Cedric, Yarmouth; and one brother, Lindsay, Mahone Bay. He was predeceased by his brother, Robert. The body rested at the Mahone Funeral Home, Mahone Bay. Service was held Tuesday March 1, at 1:30 p.m. at the Cornwall United Baptist Church, Rev. Dale Rose officiating; organist, Mrs. McVay.
Paul Malcolm Publicover 1992 Halifax Chronicle Herald Paul Malcolm Publicover, 72, Blandford, died October 26, 1992, in Victoria General Hospital, Halifax. Born at Blandford, he was a son of the late Chauncey and Levinia (Rafuse) Publicover. He was a self-employed electrician working throughout the South Shore. He was a veteran of the Second World War, serving with the Engineer Corps. of the RCA. He was a member of Royal Canadian Legion, Butler Branch 44, Chester, where he was a recipient of a 45 year pin. He was former treasurer and member of Blandford Volunteer Fire Department. He was a former director of Blandford Community Centre and former fire commissionaire for Chester Municipal District No. 1. He was a member of St. Barnabas Anglican Church, Blandford. He is survived by his wife, the former Muriel Gates; two sons, Kimber, Kendall, both of Halifax; four sisters, Jean (Mrs. Eric Countway), Chester Basin; Phyllis (Mrs. Gerald Moore), Joan (Mrs. Douglas Jewers), both of Hubbards; Mary Ellen (Mrs. Bruce Kolsky), Costa Rica; three grandchildren. The body is in Ronald A. Walker Funeral Home, Hubbards, visiting 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today. Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in St. Barnabas Anglican Church, Blandford, Rev. Leslie Ball officiating. OBIT # 5211 - EVENING NEWS - 12 FEB 1946 NEW GLASGOW- The death of Mrs.GEORGE GALLANT occured at the home of her sister, Mrs.RODERICK CHISHOLM, Dec.30, 1945, wife of GEORGE GALLANT and daughter of the late HARRY MacKENZIE, who predeceased her twelve years ago,and Mrs.ROSS SMITH. Although she had been in ill health for the past two years, her death came as a shock to her relatives and friends. She spent many months in the Aberdeen Hospital but she had only been a patient for five weeks in St.Martha's Annex. Ten days previous to her death, she came to spend Christmas at the home of her sister. She was a favorite patient with all the nurses, who cared for her from time to time. She never complained and had a smile for everyone. She is survived by her husband, two sorrowing children, LEO, 9, MILDRED, 2, who mourn the loss of the loving mother. A baby son and daughter predeceased her three months ago. Also surviving are her mother, Mrs.ROSS SMITH, and two sisters, MARIE(Mrs.RODERICK CHISHOLM), MABLE(Mrs. ELMER PATTON, all of New Glasgow. One brother, Pte.HARRY, with the Pictou Highlanders, now stationed at Debert survives her. One sister, Mrs.MILDRED MacKENZIE predeceased her fifteen months ago. She was a member of St.John's Church, where Sequence Mass was held by Father Chisholm. Her remains were conveyed to St.John's cemetery for burial.
UNKNOWN PAPER - 1976 KENNETH LEROY STAPLES - Funeral service for the late Kenneth Leroy STAPLES, 21, of Truro who was killed June 30, in a highway accident at Wentworth, was held from St. James Presbyterian Church, July 3, at 2 p.m. The largely attended service was conducted by Dr. A.E. MORRISON, assisted by Rev. Robert K. ANDERSON, a former Minister and Rev. Clair MacLEOD, new Minister at St. James. The church choir led in the singing of the hymns. Mr. Morris PATTON, a friend of the family rendered a favorite of the deceased. Kenneth was a graduate of Cobequid Educational Centre and was entering his third year at Acadia University. He had also attended the Nova Scotia Agricultural College for 1973-74 term. He was employed by Moffatt Bros. Ltd. for the summer months. He was a member of St. James Church, a former member of 4th Truro Bluenose Scout Troup, C.E.C. Symphonic Band, 1972-73 Reach For the Top and Debating Teams. He is survived by his parents Lloyd and Jean (GRAHAM) STAPLES, his maternal grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Simon GRAHAM, Salmon River, (formerly of West Branch, Pictou Co.), his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest STAPLES, Onslow, and his maternal great-grandmother Mrs. George MacINTOSH, Bible Hill. He was predeceased by an infant brother Murray Robert. Pallbearers were cousins Alan HAMILTON and James MacDONALD and friends Gerry GODSOE, Doug MacKENZIE, Tom MacLEAN and Rod MacLENNAN. The family pillow was carried by Mr. Wayne Foster, a close friend and a former teacher, and the casket spray by Professor James STOKESBURY from Acadia University. Former members of 4th Truro Bluenose Troup and school and college friends sat in a body, as did employees of Moffatt Bros. Ltd., members of St. James Couples Club, Colchester Hospital Staff, and Colchester Assessment Region Staff. The remains had rested at the Mattatall Funeral Home and burial was in Valley Cemetery.
McKean Baby 1889 Lunenburg Progress Published: November 20, 1889. On Friday death visited the home of Albert McKean, Esq., Pleasantville, and took from its dear parents their infant daughter and on Saturday it was interred in the family cemetery of Mrs. William McKean of this place.
Bernard James Deal 1949 The death of Bernard Deal took place at his home in Rose Bay on Sunday morning, June 12, after an illness of some months and a serious operation at the D.M. Hospital. Born at Rose Bay 64 years ago, he was the youngest son of the late Daniel and Belle (McKeen) Deal. Surviving are his widow, the former Wilda Munro, of Phillip's Harbour; one sons, Burlington; three daughters, Sylvia, Mary Ann, and Elizabeth, all at home; three brothers , Leroy of Rose Bay and Rev. Glen Deal, of Suncook, New Hampshire; two sisters, Annie, Mrs. Austin Wamboldt of Rose Bay and Lillie, Mrs. L.R. Conrad of Wellesley, Mass. The funeral service was held on Tuesday afternoon with interment at Harbourview Cemetery, Rose Bay. The funeral of the late Bernard Deal was held from his late residence on Tuesday of last week. In the absence of his minister, Rev. J. Brooks, the service was conducted by Mr. A. Custance of the United Church at Blue Rocks. Mr. Custance's meditations centred around the words of St. Paul to the Hebrews, 9:27: "As it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment." Trinity choir led in singing "The Lord is My Shepherd" and "Rock of Ages." Burial was made in Rose Bay Cemetery. Pall bearers were Benjamin Himmelman, Lorraine Conrad, William Lohnes, and Napean Smith. (Only the names of two brothers were given.)
James Cecil Bezanson 2003 Halifax Chronicle Herald James Cecil "Jim" Bezanson, 70, Auburn, Kings County, formerly of Morristown and East Dalhousie, passed away Thursday, December 25, 2003, in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born at East Dalhousie, he was a son of the late Edward and G. Mabel (Feindel) Bezanson. Jim had been a hard working man and had worked as a woodsman, usually staying at the camp where he was working. He had also worked for many years at Paul Robar's Christmas tree lot and worked for 22 years at Neil and Linda Tupper's Christmas tree lot. Jim had a keen eye for cleaning out the older Christmaas trees and was very neat about his work. He had lived in East Dalhousie aand Morristown for most of his life and most recently had resided in Auburn. Surviving are sisters, Elizabeth "Debbie" (Clayton) Joudrey, Lake Paul; Beatrice (Howard) Arenburg, Waterville; brother, Albert Bezanson, East Dalhousie; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceaased by sisters, Etta Bezanson, Bertha Veinotte, Elsie MacAullay, and Violet Acker; brothers, Carroll, Ralph, Ted, Nelson, Bill, and Albert Bezanson; and Beverly Acker. Visitation 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday, December 28 in the Memorial Chapel of H.C. Lindsay Fuenral Home, Berwick, where funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, December 29, Rev. Gladys Louisa Eagles 2003 Halifax Chronicle Herald Gladys Louisa Eagles, 92, Cherryfield, passed away peacefully Monday, October 27, 2003, in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. She was a daughter of the late Uriah and Annetta (Demone) Burgoyne. She was known for her crocheting and craft work and will be sadly missed in her community as a good friend and neighbour. She is survived by many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Ellison; son, Floyd; sisters, Edna, Dorothy, Dora, Stella, Viola; brothers, Wilfred, Jabez. Many thanks to Frances Hustost for her help and kindness to Gladys, also to Dr. Livingston and the nurses on the fourth floor of South Shore Regional Hospital. Visiting hours are 7-9 p.m. today with funeral service 11 a.m. Thursday, both in Langille's Funeral Home, New Germany, Rev. Larry Ehrhardt officiating. OBIT # 5207 - PICTOU ADVOCATE - 21 OCT 1927: The death of MR.MURDOCK K. INNES occured at the Pictou Cottage Hospital on Tuesday afternoon, October 18, at the age of 59 years. Mr.Innes underwent a serious operation in Cottage Hospital some time ago, and recovered sufficiently to permit his removal to his home. Last week, however, he was compelled to re-enter the hospital and it was then discovered that nothing furthur could be done for him and he passed away about 3:30pm. on Tuesday afternoon. Mr.INNES was born at Four Mile Brook, Pictou County, and came to Pictou when a young man. He was employed for a number of years with Mr.HUGH HENDERSON, contractor and builder, and after that with the firm of D.FULLARTON & SON. He was a first class carpenter, one of the best the town has ever had, and an excellent citizen. He had many friends and no enemies, and his death is regretted by the whole community. Mr.INNES, is survived by his wife and two daughters, Mrs.EV CRITTENDEN and Miss ETHEL INNES, both at home, the latter having given up her school at Rocklin on account of her father's serious illness. The funeral was held on Thursday afternoon and was largely attended. Service at his late home on the Old Road was conducted by Rev.John W. Emslie of the Kirk. The Kirk choir, with the organist, Miss Eva Skinner, was present to lead the singing of favorite hymns, and Mrs.E.Malcolm MacDonald and Mr.J.A. Adamson sang feelingly a duet,"Breathe On Me Breath Of God". Following the service in Pictou the remains were taken to Four Mile Brook for interment, the ceremony at the graveside conducted by Mr.Emslie.

Born in Earltown, she was the daughter of the late John and Libby (FERGUSON) FERGUSON. Surviving are four daughters, Ethel (Mrs. Ernest O'BRIEN), Niagara Falls, Ont.; Rita (Mrs. Edward O'BRIEN), Truro; Edith (Mrs. Lester ROGERS), Bridgewater; Eva (Mrs. Harold COULSTRING), Halifax; three sons, Foster, Toronto; Herman, Truro; Hugh, Galt, Ont.; one stepson, Murray, Toronto; 26 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. Her husband and an infant son are dead. Funeral service will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m., Mattatall's Funeral Home, Truro, with Rev. Donald QUIGG officiating.

HARRIS The death of Mrs. Louisa Craig Harris, a well known and highly respected resident of Prince Albert, occurred at her home on Sunday afternoon, April 7th, at 3 o'clock. Death was due to a shock suffered about two weeks ago. The late Mrs. Harris was born in Victoria Vale, seventy-two years ago, and was a daughter of the late Robert and Prudence Craig. Mrs. Harris was twice married: her first husband being Frank Gates of North Kingston. Following the death of Mr. Gates, she married Charles A. Harris who survives her. The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon from her late home, Rev. A. Gordon McClare, pastor of the Margaretsville Baptist Church officiating. Interment was made at North Kingston. The Outlook, Middleton published 25 April 1935 Mrs. Charles A. HARRIS There passed away at Prince Albert, on April 7th, 1935, Mrs. Charles A. Harris, daughter of the late Prudence Reagh and Robert Craig. She had been an invalid for several years and bore this affliction with marked patience and fortitude. Mrs. Harris was a lover of the beautiful, her flowers and garden being a continuos delight to her. She will always be remembered by those who knew her, as a true friend - the soul of honor. There will be an inner circle who will always think of her with warm and tender affection. The funeral service was conducted by the Rev. G. McClare, with interment at Kingston cemetery beside the children she lost in infancy. The pall bearers were Mr. Gordon Banks, Mr. Harry Parker, Messrs Perley and Charlie Ward. Much sympathy is extended to the sorrowing husband, two nieces of Amherst, and three nephews, besides kind friends, who will think of her as resting peacefully.

He was predeceased by his wife, the former Lottie WEATHERBIE and a half brother. The body is at Coulter's Funeral Home, Tatamagouche. Mildred Ruth Mossman The death of Mildred Ruth Mossman, aged 25 years, occurred at her home at Upper Kingsburg early in the week. She was the younger daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Mossman. Her mother was the former Miss Clara Mosher of Upper Kingsburg. Following an attack of flu she contracted less than a year ago, she failed to regain strength but gradually weakened and death came not unexpectedly. Surviving besides her parents is one sister, Helen (Mrs. Wilson Romkey) of Lower LaHave. Funeral service was conducted by Rev. A.L. Conrad of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, of which deceased was a member. Mr. Conrad based his thoughts on the words of the Master as rendered in St. John's Gospel 14, 1-3. "Let not your heart be troubled." Favourite hymns were sung by the choir: "Sunet and Evening, Daylight and Dawning," "Jesus, Thy blood and Righteousness," and another old favourite," I Come to the Garden Alone." Interment was made in the village cemetery.

Born at Charlottetown, PEI, Mr.Pelley had been a resident of Trenton, NS, for the past forty years, and was an employee of the Eastern Car Company. The funeral was held in Trenton United Church on Sunday, June 12th at 2:30pm. with Rev.A.W.Osborne in charge of the service, assisted by Evangelist F.G.Strickland. John G.MacKenzie soloist, Westville, gave a beautiful rendition of that appropriate hymn,"Only Remembered". Mr.Pelley was a member of Doric Lodge No.91 A.F.and A.M., Trenton; also a member of Liberty Lodge No.22, Knights of Pythias, New Glasgow. The members of Doric Lodge attended the funeral service and conducted their impressive ritualistic ceremony at the graveside. The Lodge brethern filling the capacity of pall bearers were: Duncan Ward, Alex Chisholm, Robert Logan, John D.MacLean, Alex Fraser, Harry Duncan. Interment was in Hillside cemetery Surviving are his widow; three daughters, Mrs.C.L. UNKNOWN PAPER - 6 JUNE 1967 MINNIE ANN HEUGHENS - Tatamagouche - The funeral of Mrs. Minnie Ann HUEGHENS whose death occurred at the home of her daughter Mrs. Harold BLOOD, Braintree, Mass., on Monday, May 29, was held at Sharon United Church, Tatamagouche on Thursday afternoon, June 1, at 2 o'clock with Rev. James A. FRASER conducting the service. Hymns led by the choir were "There Is a Green Hill Far Away" and "Safe in The Arms of Jesus" and "The Old Rugged Cross" was sung as a solo by John Coulter. She was 96 and was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Israel LYNDS, Central North River. She is survived by two daughters, Lizzie (Mrs. Harold BLOOD) Braintree, Mass., Reta (Mrs. John MATHESON), Framingham, Mass., two sons, Burt, on the home place, Tatamagouche; Allister in Toronto, five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Her husband Thomas HEUGHENS, predeceased her 26 years ago and one son, Ernest, predeceased her two and a half years ago. The many and beautiful floral tributes bore a silent testimony of the esteem in which she was held. Pallbearers were Roland Bonnyman, Tatamagouche; Laurie SWAN, Central New Annan; Byron YUILL, Halifax; Claude LYNDS, Douglas MacKENZIE and David WRIGHT, all of Truro. Interment was in the Sunnybrae Cemetery, French River, Col. Co.
