    3. Fred Robert Spidell 1988 Fred Robert Spidell, age 61, of Toronto, formerly of Lunenburg, passed away at Toronto General Hospital, May 23, 1988. He was employed with T. Eaton's Co. Ltd., as floor manager of the men's wear department for the past 25 years. He was a very kind and thoughtful person and will be sadly missed by his many friends and relatives. He was the oldest son of the late Kenneth and Ella Spidell, Lunenburg. He was predeceased by a half sister, Jean and a half brother, Leaman. He is survived by three brothers, Elda of Northwest; Kenneth of Lower Kingsburg; and Earl of Bridgewater. A graveside service was held May 26 at Hillcrest Cemetery, Lunenburg, with Rev. Don MacPherson officiating.

He is survived by his wife, the former Ada Mills; son, James, British Columbia; daughters, Carol (Mrs. Chris Reid), Catherine (Mrs. Larry Hodgson), both of Ontario; Margaret (Mrs. Arthur Gates), Blandford; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by two grandchildren; one great-grandson. Visitation 7-9 p.m. today; 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Friday in Ronald A. Walker Funeral Home, Hubbards. He was a brother of the late D.R. MacKAY, of New Glasgow, who conducted a service station for a number of years. His wife was formerly MARGARET FRASER, a daughter of the late JOHN S. FRASER of Hopewell and Mrs. Fraser, now residing in Westville, and a sister of Mrs. JOHN A. MURRAY and Mrs. N.B.ROSS of Westville. Besides his widow he is survived by four children and two brothers. His passing at a comparatively early age comes as a shock to friends and relatives and the sympathy of many Pictou County friends will be extended to the bereaved

UNKNOWN PAPER - 28 DECEMBER 1954 TRUEMAN MCROBERTS MCCULLY - The many friends of Trueman McRoberts McCULLY of Debert, were grieved and shocked to learn of his sudden passing in his sleep about midnight Monday, December 2, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Peter HYNDS, R.R. No. 1 Tatamagouche. He had not been in good health for some time, but his passing was quite unexpected. He was born in Debert in the year 1872, the son of James M. and Rachall McCULLY. He was twice married, his first wife being the former Emma HENRY of Granville Mills, P.E.I. Of this union there are two sons, A.K. McCULLY of Truro, and Roy McCULLY of Debert. He is survived by his second wife, who was Christine MURRAY of Balmoral Mills, also two daughters, Jennie, Mrs. Murray MINGO of Tatamagouche, Mary, Mrs. Peter HYNDS, of R.R. No. 1 Tatamagouche, and a number of nieces and nephews. The funeral was held from the home of his daughter, Mrs. Murray MINGO, Tatamagouche at 1.30 p.m., Wednesday December 22 and was conducted by the Rev. Mr. SPROULE of the Presbyterian Church assisted by Rev. Richard STUART of the United Church. The many beautiful flowers and the large concourse of people who had come from different parts of Colchester and Pictou counties, to pay their last respects to one who they had known so well for so long, testified to the esteem in which Mr. McCULLY was held. The remains were laid to rest in the Earltown cemetery. The pall bearers were Douglas MURRAY, Hugh MURRAY, Rex MINGO and Russell MacKAY.

MacGILLIVARY An aged and esteemed citizen of Westville, MRS.MARGARET ANN MacGILLIVARY, passed away at the home of her son, HUGH MacGILLIVARY, North Main Street. The deceased was 91 years of age, and had been in failing health the past year. Mrs.MacGillivary formerly resided at Saltsprings and came to town a few years ago. Besides her son, Hugh, she is also survived by a daughter, MRS.MUNROE GUNN, Six Mile Brook and by several grandchildren. A short funeral service was held at the home of her son, conducted by Rev.M.A.MacMillan, of the Westville United Church, Wednesday afternoon, followed by a service at the United Church at Saltsprings, in charge of the pastor, Rev.J.R.Calder Fraser. Interment was made at the Saltsprings cemetery.

Earltown - It was with deep regret that relatives and friends learned that George Neil MURRAY 61, of Wrangell, Alaska, was fatally injured in a sawmill accident at the Wrangell Lumber Company on Thursday, February 3. Born in Earltown, Colchester County, son of the late Neil and Margaret MURRAY, he spent the greater part of his life in the American West and about 15 years ago he moved to Alaska where he was employed. Funeral services were held on February 5 at the First Presbyterian Church, Wrangell. The Rev. Paul E. EVANS, pastor of the church which Mr. MURRAY was an elder, officiated at the services. The church was filled to capacity with sorrowing friends. Burial was in Wrangell Memorial Cemetery. He is survived by daughters, Mrs. Josephine BROMMERS, Monroe, Wash., and Mrs. Maxine Peterson, Everitt, Wash., and sons Neil, Olympia, Wash., and brothers Peter, Robert and William. Two years ago the late Mr. MURRAY returned on his first visit to his native country where he visited relatives and friends in Earltown, North River and other places.

Melvin Gerald Hebb 1956 Bridgewater Bulletin There passed away at the Nova Scotia Sanitorium, Kentville, at an early hour on Saturay September 22nd., Melvin Gerald Hebb, at the age of 44 years. His sudden passing came as a great shock to those who held him dear, for although he had been in failing health for some time of late, there had been a marked improvement. Born at Hebb's Cross, he was a son of Mrs. Milledge Hebb and the late Mr. Hebb. Besides his mother, he leaves to mourn his loss a brother, Clayton. A sister, Lela, predeceased him. Funeral services were held from St. James Anglican Church, Conquerall Mills on Monday, September 24th, with Rev. G.W. Meade of Fairview officiating clergyman. Hymns sung were "Safe in the Arms of Jesus," "The Old Rugged Cross," and "Nearer, My God, to Thee." Pall bearers were Carmen Hebb, Owen Nowe, Stanford Himmelman, and Arnold Nowe. Burial was in St. James Cemetery, Conquerall Mills.

His second wife was Mrs. Leona Chute of Hibernia, who predeceased him some years ago.     3. OBIT # 5232 - EASTERN CHRONICLE - APRIL 1939 ISAAC A. GRANT - Miss Katie Mitchell received word on Saturday, April 1, of the death of her uncle, ISSAC A. GRANT, in St. Paul, Minn., in his 94th year, following a long illness. Many years ago he was a well known business man in Pictou and moved to St. Paul while still a young man. There he went into business as a successful grain and feed merchant and was a director of the Drover State Bank. He was the son of the late GEORGE and CATHERINE MATHESON GRANT of Scotch Hill and was the last survivor of a large family. The late Rev. KENNETH J. GRANT of Halifax, for many years the well known missionary of Trinidad, was a brother of the deceased. The late Mrs. Grant, formerly ANNA ROSS of Pictou, sister of the late JOHN U. ROSS, predeceased him several years ago. The late Mr. Grant conducted a large dry good store in Pictou, situated, we think, in a building on Water Street, opposite Market Square.

Born in Three Brooks, Pictou Co., he was a son of the late Donald and Isabel (MacKENZIE) GRANT and has served for a number of years as a County Councillor. He was a senior elder of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, member of the Eastern Star Lodge, No. 1, IOOF, and the Stewart Encampment. Surviving are four daughters, Mary (Mrs. Robert WATT), Pictou; Jean (Mrs. A.A. MATHESON), North Syndey; Muriel (Mrs. D.A. MILLER), St. Margarets, N.B.; and Iris (Mrs. Alan SOLIE), Montreal. The funeral service was held on Tuesday afternoon from St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, with the minister, Rev. D. Laurence MAWHINNEY officiating, assisted by Rev. John ROBERTS of Pictou United. Interment took place in Central Caribou Cemetery.
