Banford Ritcey 1943 A memorial service for Banford Ritcey, Rose Bay, was held Sunday afternoon at Trinity United Church, the service being conducted by the pastor, Rev. W.K. Pace who gave a comforting address. A quartette composed of Mrs. Pace, Miss Rosabelle Lohnes, Oscar Parks, and Lemuel Zinck sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and Mrs. Pace sang "Face to Face." Beautiful floral tributes were placed in the chancel in memory of the departed. Mr. Rticey was steward on the ill-fated fishing schooner,"Flora Alberta." He was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Israel Ritcey of Riverport and is survived by his widow, formerly Miss Iva Mossman; by one son, Claude; and by a granddaughter, Dorothy Ritcey. Fred Ritcey and Irvin Ritcey of the United States are brothers and Mrs. Reginald Bowser of the United States a sister.
Mrs. William Nowe May, 1943. Very suddenly at First South, there passed away one of its estimable citizens in the person of Mrs. William Nowe, aged 59 years, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Eli Dares of First South. Besides her husband, she is survived by three sons, Fred, Spurgeon, and Douglas; one daughter, Vivian Mrs. R. Knickle; also one brother, Urban Dares; two sisters, Mrs. Guy Mullock and Mrs. Morris Zinck and five grandchildren. The funeral was held from her residence, thence to Grace Lutheran Church, of which she was a faithful member where the service was conducted by her pastor, Rev. L.G. Bald. Interment was in First South Cemetery.
Thelma Acker 1984 Mrs. Thelma P. Acker, 65, of 49 Townsend Street, Lunenburg, died October 12, 1984, in Fishermen's Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg. Born at First South, she was a daughter of the late Harris and Mary (Mason) Haughn. She was a member of Central United Church, Lunenburg. She is survived by her husband, James W.; a son, Franklyn J., Lunenburg; two sisters, Madelyn (Mrs. Perley Lohnes), First South; and Mrs. Marian Allen, Bridgewater; a brother, Donald, Lunenburg; and two grandchildren. The body rested in Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, Lunenburg. Funeral service was Monday, October 15, in Central United Church, Rev. Donald MacPherson officiating. Pallbearers were Wallace Corkum, Milton Jennings, Frank Briand, Wilson Richards, Bill Dauphinee, and Elda Spidle Burial was in Hillcrest Cemetery, Lunenburg.
Brian LeRoy Corkum 1997 Bridgewater Bulletin Brian LeRoy Corkum, 42, passed away January 2, 1997, in Calgary. He was the son of Violet (Corkum) Corkum, Blockhouse and Donald Corkum, Bridgewater. He is survived by his wife, the former Karen Rinker; daughters, Tammie and Tiffany Corkum; son, Travis, all of Yarmouth; step-daughter, Tami, Calgary; grandchildren, Paige, Tyler, and Dillan, Yarmouth; sisters, Catherine Walker, Chester Basin; Janet Conrad, Fancy Lake; brother, Trevor, Middle Cornwall; and two nieces. A memorial service was held in Calgary January 12, 1997. The body has been cremated. A private family committal service was held at Newburne Cemetery January 15, 1997, under the direction of Mahone Funeral Home. Rev. Brad and Barbara Putman officiated.
Harry Lee Veinotte 1996 Halifax Chronicle Herald Harry Lee Veinotte, 58, Newburne, died July 28, 1996, in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born at Newburne, he was a son of Carrie Lucretia (Beck) Veinotte and the late Warren Kenneth Veinotte. He was a member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, Newburne, where he served on the church council until his illness. He was a farmer and worked as a woodsman for various local businesses. Surviving are his wife, the former Gloria Dawn (Patsy) Lohnes; daughters, Darlene (Mrs. Lawrence Getson Jr.), Newcombville; Marlene, Maplewood; Kimberly, Lunenburg; sons, Cameron, Byron, Newburne; sisters, Mildred (Mrs. Murray Joudrie), Hebbville; Marion Nauss, Lunenburg; brother, Warren, Newburne; eight grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sister, Pauline. No visitation by request. Funeral 2 p.m. Wednesday in St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, Newburne, Rev. Ted Heinze officiating. Burial in the church cemetery. Charles Creighton Aulenback 1972 Bridgewater Bulletin Funeral service for the late Charles Creighton Aulenback, age 86, who died at the Fishermen's Memorial Hospital on November 25, 1972, was held at the Mahone Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 28. The service was conducted by Mr. Gordon Hazlewood assisted by Mr. Peter Zimmerman. Pall bearers were Stanley Corkum, Stuart Greer, Arnold Conrad, David Conrad, Robert Zwicker, and William Freeman. Mr. Aulenback was the son of the late Benjamin and Ellen (Smeltzer) Aulenback. Surviving are one daughter, Jean, in the United States; two brothers, Enock and Willis, both of Farmville and also several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers and four sisters.

Born at Tatamagouche Mountain, she was the former Carrie Margaret DRYSDALE, a daughter of the late Albert and Mary (MacKAY) DRYSDALE. She was a member of First United Church and was very active in the church's women's organizations. She is survived by a son, Ronald, Truro; two daughters, Margaret (Mrs. Ivan WARR), Stoney Creek, Ont.; Florence (Mrs. Charles HUGHES), Willowdale, Ont.; ten grandchildren and a great-grandchild. Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a daughter and a sister. The body is at the Kennedy Memorial Residence, Truro, where funeral service will be held Friday at 2 p.m. Rev. He was a son of the late Hilda (Guest) and William Wolfe, Western Head. He was employed by the McDonnell Douglas Aircraft Co. of Canada Ltd., Malton, Ontario, for 33 years, retiring in 1995. He was an avid fan of many sports, including throughoutbred horse racing, and will be sadly missed by his racing buddies. He was a kind and loving brother and loved animals, and used to feed the many stray cats around his residence. He is survived by brothers, Harold (Jessie), Western Head; Forrest (Mary Jane), Liverpool; Donald, Halifax; sisters, Vera (Joseph) Coombs, Milton; Kathleen Conrad, Halifax; Dorothy Wolfe, Halifax; Ethel (Gordon) Dorey, Liverpool; Ruby (Milford) Roy,Halifax; and Margaret Wolfe, Halifax. He is also survived by maternal aunt, Ella Guest, Nashua, N.H.; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, Archie, William Jr., Kenneth, and a baby brother in infancy. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service is being held in Weston with a service and committal to be held in Grace Church, Western Head at a later date. Dena Mae Reinhardt 2006 Halifax Chronicle Herald Dena Mae Reinhardt, 97, Bridgewater, passed away December 5, 2006, in Hillside Pines Home for Special Care. Born at Cherryfield, she was a daughter of the late Wallace and Mary (Munroe) Conn. In her early years she operated the family farm. After retirement from the family farm she was employed as a cook and housekeeper at Pleasant Rest Home in Bridgewater for 13 years. Because of her love of animals ahe took great pleasure helping to raise money for SHAID Tree Animal Shelter in Bridgewater. She was also active as a volunteer at the Dawson Daisy Centre. She is survived by nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her first husband, Lawrence Rafuse and her second husband, Earl Reinhardt. Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. with prayers at 3 p.m. Thursday in R.A. Corkum Funeral Home, Wileville. A graveside service will be held in Oak Grove Cemetery, Kentville at 2 p.m. Friday, Padre Earle Leslie officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to SHAID Tree Animal Shelter.

OBIT # 5282 - EVENING NEWS - 28 FEB 1952 Scotsburn- The death of SMITH PATTERSON occured at his late home, Cross Roads, Roger's Hill, Feb.11. He was one of the oldest and most highly respected citizens of this community. Had he lived until Feb.27, he would have been 87 years old. A son of the late ROBERT and MARY (MacConnell) PATTERSON, he lived his entire life on the homestead, except for a brief period spent in the Canadian West.Despite his advanced age he was very active and took a keen interest in all that went on within his home and community. His interest was specially with the young people and as was his usual custom he attended the Christmas entertainment presented in December by the pupils of the Cross Roads School; his granddaughter was among those taking part.Mr.Patterson became ill one week previous to his death.He is survived by one son, ELMER, on the old homestead and by two daughters, CLARICE(Mrs.Forbes MacLean) of Durham; and MARY RANGE, technologist in the Allerton Hospital, Allston, Mass; four grandsons and two granddaughters.He was predeceased by his wife in 1926 and also by three brothers and four sisters.A short service was held at the home Feb.14 followed by service in Durham Presbyterian Church of which he was a member and faithful attendant, at 2:30 pm. Both were conducted by His pastor, Rev.J.M. Grant. The church choir sang "The Lord's My Shepherd" and "Nearer My God To Thee", both having been requested by him before his death, as was his favorite hymn, "Shall We Meet Beyond The River", sung by Mrs.Gordon MacKay, Trenton.The pall bearers were: Gerald and David Patterson and Kenneth MacLean(grandsons), Rob Robley, Fraser Sutherland and george Patterson.
