Born at First South, he was a son of the late Frank and Ellen (Acker) Acker. He worked most of his life with National Sea Products, Lunenburg and was a member of Central United Church, Lunenburg. He is survived by a son, Franklin, Lunenburg; eleven sisters, Grace (Mrs. Henry Ferguson), and Lottie (Mrs. John Mitchell), both in the United Ststes; Olive (Mrs. Chester Wentzell), Spryfield; Marion (Mrs. Douglas Patton), Chester Grant; Shirley (Mrs. Lauren Wile), Lower LaHave; Irean (Mrs. Basil Fralick), Centre; Florence (Mrs.Bernard Swinamer), Western Shore; Isabel, Lunenburg; Emily Zinck, Lunenburg; June (Mrs. Frank Briand), Fauxburg; two brothers, Harold and Gravel, both of First South; and two grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Thelma Haughn; five brothers, Roy, Allen, Charles, Lewis, and Allen Theodore. The body is in Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, Lunenburg. Funeral will be Sunday at 2 p.m. in Central United Church, Lunenburg, Rev. Donald MacPherson officiating, with burial in Hillcrest Cemetery. OBIT # 5390 - EVENING NEWS - 15 JUNE 1953 Westville- Old friends here learned with regret of the recent passing of MRS. J. C. MacDONALD in Edmonton. She was a widow of the late DR. J CLYDE MacDONALD, who once practised medicine here before going west. Mrs. MacDonald was in her eighty-third year and is survived by a daughter, Mrs. K. C. MacLEOD of Grimshaw; three sons, Major P. S. MacDONALD of Vallejo, Calif; Ald. J. C. MacDONALD and C. A. MacDONALD, both of Edmonton; seven grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. During the years following the First World War, Mrs. MacDonald served as President of the Children's Aid Society when the home for underpriviledged children was built. She was active in the IODE, the First Baptist Church Women's Auxiliary, the Women's Conservative Club. She and Mr.MacDonald moved to Edmonton in 1912; he died in 1938.
UNKNOWN PAPER - 17 FEBRUARY 1948 EMMELINE HARRIS - Tatamagouche Mountain - Mrs. Emmeline HARRIS passed peacefully away to her eternal home on February 10 following two weeks illness through which she was tenderly cared for, by her daughters Mrs. Harry MORSE of Taunton, Mass, and Miss Mattie T. HARRIS of Truro. Mrs. HARRIS was a very diligent and happy person, and led a busy, useful life, in all community affairs. She was foremost in the work of the Church and a great knitter, having knit a great many pairs of socks for Red Cross during two wars. Her heart was always with the Church, having been among those who were instrumental in the building of our Church in this community and a life long supporter. Her husband, Isaac HARRIS, predeceased her 50 years ago. She was the last surviving member of her family and was in the 90th year of her age. The funeral service was largely attended despite poor roads. Rev. E.F. COFFIN conducted the Service from her late home. Choir sang "The Lord's My Shepherd", "In the Sweet By and By". She is survived by her daughters and son, Robert HARRIS and three grand children. Floral tributes were beautiful. Pall bearers were Gordon and Elmon BAILEY, John and Andrew MacKAY, Walter and Aubrey TUCKER. Interment at Tatamagouche Memorial Cemetery.
Crossman Harley Young 2000 Halifax Chronicle Herald Published: Saturday, January 22,2000. >From the collection of Gwen Christie Crossman Harley Young, MDCM,FRCP (C), FACP, FACC,FAGS, 80, prominent Dartmouth physician passed away at home on January 20, 2000, after a courageous battle with Parkinson's Disease. Born at Blandford, on January 28, 1919, he was a son of the late Borden and Florence (Meisner) Young. After graduating from Bridgewater High School, he went on to complete Dalhousie Medical School in 1941 as one of the youngest graduates in its history. Following a residency in Internal Medicine at the Kentville Sanatorium, he started a family practice as an early partner with Dr. Peter Hebb and Dr. Max Brennan at the Dartmouth Medical Centre. He left general practice in 1956 to specialize in Internal Medicine and obtained certification in 1959. He joined the faculty of medicine at Dalhousie as a general internist and teacher and served on the medical staff of the Halifax Infirmary, Camp Hill Hospital, and Dartmouth General. With a keen interest in the problems of medical care delivery, medical economics, and geriatric care, he served on the early councils of MD Management and Maritime Medical Care and was president MMC from 1963-65. In 1985, the Canadian Medical Association honoured him with a Life membership. Dr. Young will be remembered as a devoted consulant to family physicians and as a wise and compassionate teacher of clinical medicine. He served as past president of the Nova Scotia Society of Internal Medicine, Nova Scotia Cardiovascular Society and founding president of the Dartmouth Medical Society. He was a member of Kiwanis club for 45 years, serving as president of the Dartmouth Kiwanis Cub from 1984-85 and becoming a Mel Osborne Fellow. Aas a supporter of the Dartmouth Senior Citizens Service Centre, he received recognition for his outstanding contributions. He enjoyed hunting, salmon fishing, travel, and was a member of Brightwood Golf Club. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, E. Pauline (Gates) Young; sister, Lyla Nied, Halifax; brother, Glenn Young, Boston; daughters, Gail (Mrs. Richard Thompson), Toronto; Pamela (Mrs. Douglas Anderson), Halifax; and grandchildren, George and Richard Thompson, and Heather and Colleen Anderson. Visitation will be held in Mattatall's Funeral Home, Dartmouth, Sunday, January 23, from 1-4 p.m. A memorial service will be held in First Baptist Church, Portland Street, Dartmouth, on Saturday, January 29, at 3 p.m., Rev. Bud Hopper officiating. Reception to follow in the church hall. Burial will be at a later date in Blandford Cemetery. Family flowers only. Mrs. Hiram Oxner January, 1940. Bridgewater Bulletin LaHave, January 29- The death of Mrs. Hiram Oxner occurred at her home here on Thursday morning, following a heart attack. Her husband, Captain Oxner, passed away at LaHave thirteen years ago. She is survived by a daughter, Ethel (Mrs. George Annand), LaHave and one granddaughter, Jean Annand. Two daughters died in infancy and a daughter, Lily, passed away in early childhood. Mrs. Oxner who was in her 73rd. year was the former Miss Harriet Perelina (Linia) Parks, the eldest daughter of the late Lewis and Catherine (Wamback) Parks and was born at East LaHave. Brothers surviving are Captain Milledge J. Parks of LaHave; Hugh Parks of Middle LaHave; Captain Almon Parks of LaHave; and a sister, Lily (Mrs. Albert Wing), of East Lynn, Mass. She was predeceased by five brothers and three sisters, Rufus Parks, Albert, Freeman, Robie, and Archibald of East LaHave; and Bessie (Mrs. Spindler), of Rose Bay; Emily (Mrs. George Conrad), East LaHave; and Jessie (Mrs. James Getson), LaHave. The funeral service took place from the home of the deceased on Saturday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock with Rev. J.L. Lund, pastor of the LaHave United Church officiating. Interment was made in Fort Point Cemetery and acting as pall bearers were Josiah Pernette, Alan Creaser, Ernest Himmelman, James creaser, Harry Pernette, and John Pernette.

UNKNOWN PAPER - JUNE 1946 THOMAS W. MURRAY - Tribute To Late Thos. W. Murray. Westville, June 4 - On the 7th of May there passed peacefully to his rest after a useful life of service in the home, church and the community. Mr. Thomas W. MURRAY, who for the past 26 years served as Town Clerk of Westville. The deceased was born at Earltown, a Highland Scotch community of Colchester County, which has produced many eminent men and women prominent in the life of the Province. He received a good common school education in his native rural community and studied also for a period in Dalhousie College. After teaching school and working for a period in the industrial concerns of the Province he finally settled in Westville over thirty years ago, and in he intervening period has always been recognized as one of the best citizens of the town. As a citizen, friend and Town Clerk he held in a unique degree the confidence and esteem of his fellow citizens. As Town Clerk he was painstaking, honest, and worked always for the best welfare of his adopted town. In his earlier years he took a prominent part in the organization and activities of the Conservative Party in the Province and remained a steadfast friend of his Party until the end of his career. A loyal churchman true to his Highland Scotch youthful upbringing, he was a pillar of strength in the former Carmel Church serving as Sunday School superintendent, and holding other offices in the congregation. He was a member of the United Church and a generous contributor to the church and all charitable causes. Although actively engaged in many public duties, he was permanently a home man and his whole life was filled with an unusual devotion to his family. Early in his married life his wife, who was Jessie MacKAY of Earltown, died, and he was left with five small children to whom he devoted the love of a mother. His family are Lyda, Edith, Isabel and Edna (Mrs. Thos. WORKMAN) all of Westville. Another daughter, Marjorie, died some years ago. The funeral service was held in St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, conducted by his pastor, Rev. Neil M. RATTEE, assisted by Rev. H.M. BUNTAIN. A fine tribute was paid to his worth as citizen and churchman which was also attested to by the large number of citizens who attended the funeral services, and the beautiful flowers expressive of the esteem and sympathy of his fellow citizens. The members of Western Star Lodge A.F. & A.M. attended the service and took part in the final tribute to a member of their society. Interment was in the family lot at Auburn Cemetery. The Evening News, on behalf of many friends, tenders deepest sympathy to the bereaved.

Born at North River, he was a son of the late Laura (Robar) and the late Irving John Daniels. He was a woodsman, working for Kirks and Bowater. He also worked for the city of Dartmouth Roads Department and later for Harris Hiltz. He retired in 1991 due to ill health. Surviving are his wife, the former Helen Mae Joudrey; son, Paul; sisters, Judy Silver, Bridgewater; Donna Daniels, Western Shore; Joan Hiltz, Forties; Doris Wentzell, Wileville; brothers, Allister, Stanley Section; Gordon, Cherryfield; Basil, Bridgrtown; George, Bear River. He was predeceased by son, Harold; brother, Oscar. Memorial service 3 p.m. Sunday in East Dalhousie Baptist Church, Rev. Brian Wheaton officiating. The body has been cremated. He was a member and past president of the church social club. He was a member and past master of St. John's No. 2 AF & AM. He was also a member of the Scottish Rite (32 degree). He was particularly fond of spending time at the family home in West LaHave. He is survived by his wife, the former Shirley Frank; son, Tony, Lower West Jeddore; stepmother, Celia Norman, Bridgewater; sisters, Helen Norman, Dundas, Ontario; Marilla and husband Ralph Faulkner, Nine Mile River; Sherry and husband Ronald Haynes, Toronto; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by son, Geoffrey. Cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends from 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today in J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 2666 Windsor Street, Halifax. Born in Halifax, she was a daughter of Linda Acker. She is survived by her mother; a sister, Natasha, Jordan Bay; her grandfather, Delbert Acker, Jordan Bay; and several aunts and uncles. Born at Bay L'Argent, Newfoundland, he was a son of the late Samuel and Martha Banfield. He is survived by one son, Eli, East LaHave; a daughter, Gladys (Mrs. Alpheus Smith), Middle LaHave; a brother, Gordon, Mount Uniacke; and five grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Sarah; an infant daughter and infant twin granddaughters; a sister, Melinda; and three brothers, Albert, George, and Edgar. The body rested at Sweeny's Funeral Home, Bridgewater. Funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Saturday from St. Bartholomew's Anglican Church, Middle LaHave, Archdeacon Gregory Pritchard officiating. Born at Dalhousie, she was the daughter of John and Sarah (Oickle) Barkhouse. Surviving besides her husband, Douglas, are one son, Lawrence, Berwick; three daughters, Dorothy (Mrs. Donald Morton), Pinehurst; Maxine, Kingston; Sylvia, at home; seven grandchildren; one great grandchild; one brother, Lorne Barkhouse, Stewiacke. She was predeceased by two brothers. Funeral service was held Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. from the St. Cyrpian's Anglican Church, Dalhousie. Rev. William Bishop officiated. Interment was in the Dalhousie Cemetery.
Mrs. John E. Allen 1960 The death occurred Tuesday in Fishermen's Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg, of Mrs. Geraldine Allen, aged 45, wife of John E. Allen of Corkum's Island. Mrs. Allen was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Frank Powers of Oakland. Besides her husband, she is survived by two sons, Loren and Frank; and one daughter, Gail; slaso three sisters, Mildred (Mrs. Maurice Whynacht), Mahone Bay; Marguerite (Mrs. Ernest Eisnor), Oakland; and Dorothy (Mrs. Freeman Allen), Corkum's Island. One sister, Marie, predeceased her a number of years ago. Funeral service was held in the Central United Church, Lunenburg on March 3rd., with interment in Hillcrest Cemetery.

Mrs. Baillie has been in extremely poor health for some time and bore her suffering and infirmities in true Christian spirit. She was the eldest daughter of the late J. HEYWOOD and Mrs. MacGREGOR, and is survived by two brothers, GEORGE, manager of the Steel Furnishing Company and RUBE, of the hardware firm, MacGregor and Co., and one sister, MRS. GEORGE REDFORD. Mrs. Baillie was rich in a host of warm friends who are sadly stricken by the unexpected death of one whom they so enjoyed. The most sincere sympathy is extended to the bereaved husband, who, henceforth must travel the road of life alone. bereft of his beloved partner. The funeral took place yesterday.
