Born at Worcester, Mass., he was a son of the late Ralph and Amelia Conrad. He was a veteran of the Second World War and was a member of Royal Canadian Legion. He was an adherent of Barss Corner Baptist Church. Surviving, besides his wife, the former Lola Rhodenizer, are a son, Alan, at home; four sisters, Doris, Wilma, Arlene, and Florence, all in the United States. The body is at Langille's Funeral Home. Service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday in Barss Corner Baptist Church, Rev. Ernest Crosby officiating. Burial will be in Parkdale Cemetery. Donations may be made to Barss Corner Baptist Church or Parkdale Cemetery.

Taylor, 81, Kirkland Lake, Ontario, passed away peacefully after a lengthy illness on September 3, 2003, in Kirkland and District Hospital, with her husband, Ralph, at her side. Born at Rockland, Kings County, she was a daughter of the late Ralph and Florence (Reeves) Frank. All of her married life was spent in Northen Ontario but she loved her visits "home". She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who touched the hearts of all who knew her. Surviving are her husband of 56 years, Ralph; son, Frank (Julie), Ottawa; daughter, Joanne, Ottawa; brother, Ralph Lamert Frank, Berwick; sister, Muriel Todd, Coldbrook; grandchildren, Jeremy, Thomas, Holly. The funeral was held in Trinity United Church in Kirkland Lake on September 6.

LAURA BLANCHE CLYBURN, wife of ONSLOW CLYBURN, died at the Campbell Nursing Home, Poole Ave., where she had been a guest for the last two years. Born at Goldboro 78 years ago she was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. WILLIAM MYERS and was a member of the Goldboro Baptist Church. Surviving besides her husband, are two daughters, LETTIE (Mrs. Chester Langley), Isaac's Harbour; STELLA (Mrs. Churchill Fenton), Country Harbour; five sons, LEONARD and BORDEN in Isaac's Harbour, DANIEL and ARTHUR in Stellarton; NORMAN in Uranium City, Sask; 24 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Also surviving are two half-brothers, PERCY MYERS, Annapolis Valley, and AUBREY MYERS in Stellarton. The remains will rest at the H.C. MacQuarrie Funeral Home after 7 this evening and will be transferred to Isaac's Harbour tomorrow. The funeral service will be announced later.

    3. UNKNOWN PAPER - 12 FEBRUARY 1977 WAYNE NEWSON - Dies in Farm Accident. Wallace Station - many relatives and friends were shocked and saddened when it was learned that Wendell Wayne NEWSON, 36, of Wallace Station has died as the result of a farm accident. His body was found Sunday morning along side his tractor. An autopsy was performed on Monday, which revealed that Mr. NEWSON had died accidentally of internal injuries. He had apparently been loading bales of hay from an outdoor haystack when the accident occurred. Born in Springhill he was the sons of Mabrey and Grace (PATTERSON) NEWSON of Pugwash River. He was a farmer and was a dealer in grain, feed and fertilizer. He was a member of the Pugwash River United Church. Surviving besides his parents are his wife, the former Mable FERGUSON, of The Falls; a son, Robbie and an infant daughter, Wendy, both at home; a sister, Glenda (Mrs. James KENT), Lower Truro; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service was held Tuesday at 7:30 p.m., and private family funeral service on Wednesday at 2 p.m., Rev. Gordon MATHESON officiating, assisted by Rev. Peter MacDONALD. Burial was in Thomson Cemetery.

Born at Lower Northfield, she was a daughter of the late James Jacob and Bessie (Wagner) Oickle. She was a member of the Anglican Church. She is survived by sister, Florence Veinot; sister-in-law, Mildred Oickle; numerous nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her husband, Sidney Osborne; sisters, Elsie Oickle, Hazel Daniels, Ivy Dauphinee; brothers, Wallace and Oswald Oickle. Visitation will be held 7-9 p.m. Wednesday in Sweeny's Funeral Home, Bridgewater, where funeral service will be held 2:30 p.m. Thursday, March 18. Interment will follow in Brookside Cemetery, Bridgewater. Family flowers only by request. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice.

    3. Sgt. William Stedman Jodrey 1946 Bridgewater Bulletin (Write-up is not complete.) An impressive service was held at the United Church, West Northfield, Sunday afternoon, June 8th., conducted by Rev. W.H. Palmer, pastor of the United Church of Canada, when a memorial tablet to the memory of Sgt. William Stedman, was unveiled. Sgt. Jodrey enlisted for service in September, 1939, serving in the West Nova Scotia Regiment. He was killed in Italy by a bursting shell on May 23rd., 1944. Tribute was paid to the life and service of Sgt. Jodrey by the pastor, who spoke from the text,"I am ready." Members of the Bridgewater Legion were present. The plaque was unveiled by Sgt. Roy Whynot, of Bridgewater, who gave the salute while Bugler Clyde Slauenwhite of ......

Born at West Northfield, he was the son of the late Joseph and Ellis (Arenburg) Greene. He was a retired section foreman with Canadian National Railway. He owned and operated the Green Woods Model Railroad, a popular attraction on the South Shore. Surviving are his wife, the former Hope Silver; two daughters, Earline, at home; Daisy, Halifax; two sons, Walter, at home; Leonard, South Nictaux; two sisters, Mrs. Maude Corkum, Port Colbourne, Ontario; Verna, Halifax; and one grandson. The body is at Chandlers' Funeral Home, Liverpool where funeral service was held wednesday at 2 p.m., Rev. William Titus officiating. Burial was at Maple Grove Cemetery, West Northfield.

Myles Gordon Aulenback, Janice Rose Aulenback, and Tammy Louise Aulenback 1972 Bridgewater Bulletin Myles Gordon Aulenback, 23, his wife, Janice Rose, 20 (nee Veinotte), and their only child, Tammy Louise, 21 months, died instantly aas the result of a head-on car accident at Lower Cornwall, Sunday, November 12, 1972. At the time of the accident both Myles and Janice were employees of High Liner Division, Lunenburg. Myles, the son of Gordon and Arlene Aulenback, Back Cornwall, is survived by his parents; sisters, Diane (Mrs. Warren Nauss), Back Cornwall; Carolyn (Mrs. Glenn Hazel), Maitland; Brenda and Annette, at home; and brother, Larry, Back Cornwall; and his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. James Aulenback, Back Cornwall. Janice, the daughter of George and Viola Veinotte, Clearland, is survived by her parents; sisters, Verlene (Mrs. Richard Veinotte), Clearland; Leola Emeneau, Springfield; Elizabeth (Mrs. Darrell Corkum), Middle Cornwall; Gloria (Mrs. Donald LaTendra), Lunenburg; Heather, Veronica, Janine; brothers, Wayne, Bernard, Rodney, and Kevin, at home; and her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Roger Tanner, Clearland and Mrs. Seretha Veinotte, Oakhill. Tammy was the only child of Myles and Janice, one of five grandchildren of Gordon and Arlene and one of twelve grandchildren of George and Viola. Funeral services were held 2 o'clock Wednesday, November 15, 1972, at the Middle Cornwall Baptist Church. Rev. Eric Miner, assisted by Rev. M. Schroeder officiated. Burial service was in the church cemetery.

    3. Captain W. Lawrence Allen 1984 Captian W. Lawrence Allen, 87, of 267 Pelham Street, Lunenburg, died Tuesday in Fishermen's Memorial Hospital. Born at Blue Rocks, he was a son of the late Arthur and Flora (Miller) Allen. He retired after many years from his own business, W. Lawrence Allen Dory Builders, Lunenburg. He was a former first mate on the Bluenose. Captain Allen also served as a councillor for the town of Lunenburg. He was a member and elder of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Lunenburg; a member of Eastern Star, Grace Chapter No. 8, Lunenburg; a member of the Masonic Unity No. 4 Lodge, and a member of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite, Halifax. He is survived by his wife, the former Violet Knickle; a daughter, Jean (Mrs. George Black), Lunenburg; two sisters, Mrs. Christie Geddes, Halifax; and Mrs. Ada Tanner, Lunenburg. He was predeceased by his first wife, Myrtle; a daughter, Dorothy; two sons, Murray and Arthur; four sisters, Viola, Jean, Phoebe, and Elmore; and two brothers, Robert and Charles. The body rested in Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, Lunenburg. Funeral was 2 p.m. Friday, October 19, 1984, in St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Lunenburg, Rev. Laurence Mawhinney officiating, with burial in Upper Blue Rocks Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church or Fishermen's Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg.

Martin Meisner, one of the older residents of the county, died at his home at Backman's Beach, Second Peninsula, on Friday aged 87 years; paralysis being the cause of death. He was born in England 71 years ago, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. JOHN HALLEM. He was a veteran of the First World War and had not been enjoying good health for some time. He is survived by his widow, the former SUSAN FOLEY; one daughter, LILLIAN (Mrs. Joseph Nickerson), Stellarton; and two sons, ERNEST and WILFRED, in Westville; also several grandchildren.

    3. UNKNOWN PAPER - 15 OCTOBER 1945 CLARENCE J. COCK - Central New Annan - Early Thursday morning, Oct. 4, the angel of Death visited our community and called to his Heavenly Home, Clarence J. COCK at the age of 72 years. Although he had been in failing for the past few years, his death came suddenly. The dread disease of diabetes had been working in his system for some time, and two days before his death he went into a coma, from which he never regained consciousness. For the past years he has been the obliging merchant of New Annan. He was also a wonderful gardener and lover of flowers, and many times the churches and other meeting places were made lovely by the work of his hands. His bass voice will be missed in the church choirs, where his seat was never vacant as long as his health permitted him to attend. He will be greatly missed in the community where his place will be hard to fill, and in the home where he was a kind husband and father. It may well be said of him, "He hath done what he could". The funeral service attended by a large circle of relatives, friends, and neighbors, was held in the Central New Annan Church on Saturday afternoon, Oct. 6th at 2:00 p.m. The service was conducted by his pastor Rev. J.C. LEADBEATER, assisted by Lic. G.C. HADLEY and Rev. J. DAVIDSON of Springhill. The choir sang favorites of the deceased; The Lord's My Shepherd, The Golden Key, Will the Circle be Unbroken, We are Going Down the Valley. The Pall bearers were: George MacNUTT, Stirling MacNUTT, Carl BELL, Tommy COCK, Ted WILSON, and Hedley WILSON. In the immediate family there are left to mourn their loss, one daughter Dorothy, Mrs. Harold TUCKER, of Oliver; five sons, Arnold, Dan, and Randall of Central New Annan, Bell of Tatamagouche, and James of Ontario and one brother Albert COCK of East New Annan. A sister Mrs. J.D. WILSON passed away a few years ago. The floral tributes were many and beautiful testifying to the esteem in which the deceased was held. Interment was in the family lot in the Tatamagouche Mountain Cemetery.

The son of the late Mr. William and Arabelle Mader Joudrey, he was born July 4th., 1886, at Fauxbourg and lived there all his life. He was a member of Trinoty United Church, Mahone Bay. He is survived by his wife, the former Edith Veinot; three daughters, Nellie (Mrs. Salvatore Rivieccio), New York; Hazel (Mrs. Bryce Andrews), Oakland; Emma (Mrs. Lawrence Penny), Bridgewater; one son, Aubrey, Clearland; one brother, William, Mahone Bay; nine grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren. The funeral service was held at two-thirty Friday afternoon, March 25th., and was conducted by his pastor, Rev. Murray Gardner. The pall bearers were Walter Veinot, Francis Whynot, William Zinck, and Harris Eickel. Interment was in Northwest Cemetery.

    3. Dr. David V. Cook 2000 Halifax Chronicle Herald Published: Friday, January 21, 2000. >From the collection of Gwen Christie Dr. David V. Cook, Kentville, died January 19, 2000. Born in Amherst, he was a son of Gladys (Trenholme) and the late Vaughn Cook. He was a graduate of Gordon Divinity College in Boston, Mass. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1964 and a Master of Religious Education in 1969. Recently his educational endeavors led him to a Doctor of Ministry degree from Acadia Divinity College in 1997. From as early as 1959 he had been involved in pastoral ministry beginning with summer and student pastorates throughout the Maritime Provinces and state of Vermont. It was during his pastorship in Pleasantville that he married Donna Crouse in October of 1965. His first full time pastorate took him to Highfield Street, U.B.C. in Moncton, N.B. , as the minister of Christian Education. Subsequent sites of ministry include the Baptist Churches of Brentwood, N.B., Barrington, and Salisbury, N.B. In 1985 he assumed the position of Area Minister for UBCAP. He and his family moved to Fredericton as he served as monitor and pastor to more than 100 ministries in Western New Brunswick. His most recent term of service had been as director of Home Missions and Church Planting for UBCAP to which he dedicated tireless hours. Surviving are wife, Donna S. Crouse, Rothesay, N.B.; daughter, Valerie Marshall, Fredericton; sons, Rev. Gordon Cook, Kingston Peninsula; Colin, Bristol, N.B.; one granddaughter. Visitation 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today, in Kennebecasis United Baptist Church. The body will be transferred to Main Street Baptist Church, Saint John, for visitation 12 p.m. until time of service, 2 p.m. Saturday. Reception to follow in the church hall. Burial Monday in Fairhaven Memorial Gardens, Moncton. Arrangements under the direction of Castle "Kings Chapel" Funeral Home, Rothesay, N.B.

He enlisted in the 64th. Batt. and was transferred to the 2th. Pte. Charlie Veinot of Upper Cornwall has died of wounds. Both the above were good soldiers and brave boys who gave their lives willingly for their country. Let all in this town remember that our lives are spared by these sacrifices and we want to do our bit by paying.

Lunenburg News The body of the late Frank Rudolph of Upper LaHave, who was drowned from the ill-fated five masted schooner, "Davis Palmer," lost off Boston Harbour on Christmas Day, was picked up and brought home for burial by his brother who was at Boston. The funeral took place on Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock.

Born at Camperdown, she was the former Hattie Victoria Hubley, daughter of the late Richard and Flora (Coombs) Hubley. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and the East Side Women's Group. Surviving are her husband, Albert; three sons, Robert and John, both at Bridgewater; Harry, Back Centre; two sisters, Grace (Mrs. Bronson Cleversey), Pleasantville; Mabel (Mrs. Earl Naugler), Hebbville; five brothers, John and Urgan, both of Dartmouth; George, Nineveh; James, Ontario; Moyle, Lockeport; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She was predeceased by three sisters and a brother. The funeral was held at the Wamback Memorial Chapel, Dufferin Street, Bridgewater, on Sunday, the 26th., at 2 p.m. Rev. W.L. Myra officiated. She was buried in Brookside Cemetery, Bridgewater.

    3. Glenn P. Porter 1977 Bridgewater Bulletin Glenn Parker Porter, of 228 Empire Street, Bridgewater, passed away suddenly on June 29, at the age of 65 years. Born in Wolfville, he was the son of the late Ernest and Minnie (Walker) Porter. By occupation, he was a travelling salesman and had been employed by several Annapolis Valley firms as well as Moirs Limited of Halifax; F.O. Crouse and Co.Ltd., of Bridgewater; and later as manager of the Lunenburg County Exhibition Commission until his retirement because of failing health. He was a member of the Bridgewater United Baptist Church where he held the office of Sunday School Superintendent for a numer of years and served on several boards and committees. He was a former councillor and mayor of the town of Bridgewater from 1961 to 1967. He was extremely interested in the development of the Dawson Memorial Hospital of which the cornerstone bears his name. He was a past president of the Bridgewater Memorial Arena; Past Master of Acacia Lodge, No. 39, A.F & A.M. and Past Noble Grand of the IOOF Lodge. He is survived by his wife, the former Nedra Rhodenizer; three sons, Wayne, Port Hawkesbury; Glenn J., Lahr, Germany; James, Pictou; two brothers, Andrew, Yarmouth; Clifford, Massachusetts; and eight grandchildren. He was predeceased by three sisters and three brothers. Memorial services were held at Wamback Memorial Chapel by both the Masonic and Oddfellows Lodge and funeral service was held in the Bridgewater Baptist Church on Saturday at 2 p.m. with Rev. J. Melville Scott officiating and the male choir, of which Mr. Porter was a former member, in attendance. The choir rendered the beautiful selection,"Beautiful Isle of Somewhere." Interment was in Brookside Cemetery, Bridgewater.

Bolivar on January 30, 1973. Although in poor health, his death came as a great shock to his family and friends. He was born in Baker Settlement, son of the late Purdy and Mabel Bolivar on August 10, 1912. He is survived by his wife, Hazel; four sons, Lawrence, Oakhill; David, Lakeside, Halifax County; Mervin, Toronto; and Ervin, at home; a daughter, Ann, Thompson, Manitoba; two brothers, Ralph, Carcoss, Yukon Territory; and Wilton, Baker Settlement; five sisters, Mildred, Mrs. Livingstone Bolivar, Wileville; Thelma, Mrs.Arthur Wold, Conn.; Edna, Mrs. Randolph Lewis, Caledonia; Flora, Mrs. Edward Shupe, South Brookfield; Lydia, Mrs. Murray Hirtle, Baker Settlement; and three grandchildren, Michael, Michelle, and Kevin Bolivar. Funeral service, which was largely attended, was held at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Baker Settlement, on February 2, with Pastor John Nunns officiating. Burial was in the Baker Settlement Cemetery.
