UNKNOWN PAPER - DECEMBER 1925 J. NEIL MURRAY - There passed away at Lethbridge, Alta., on Dec. 13, 1925, J. Neil MURRAY, formerly of Earltown, Col. Co. N.S., aged 46 years. He was stricken with paralysis on Dec. 12, never regaining consciousness passing away on the 13th, some hours before his brother, D.J. MURRAY, C.P.R. Engineer of Revelstoke, B.C., could reach his bedside. On Dec. 16th, D.J. MURRAY started on his lonely mission of crossing the continent with the remains of this much loved brother for burial at his old home at Earltown, N.S. arriving at his brother's Wm. MURRAY, North River on Dec. 21st. He is survived by two brothers, D.J. of Revelstoke, B.C.; Wm. of North River, N.S.; also two sisters Christena and Margaret of Boston, Mass. The funeral was held at residence of Wm. MURRAY, North River, on Dec. 23rd, at 10.30 a.m. where Rev. W. Boyd PARKER held a short service speaking very sympathetically to relatives and friends. The United Choir sang the "Sands of Time are Sinking," and "Nearer My God to Thee," both favorites of deceased; also a special quartet "Some time we'll Understand" which was sung very feelingly by Miss N.L. STEWART, Mrs. J. McDONALD, Rev. W. PARKER, and Mr. W. PARKER with Miss. J. KEITH accompanist. Then the cortege proceeded to Earltown, where service was held in the Presbyterian Church at two p.m. The services were taken charge of by the I.O.O.F. Brotherhood Rev. Boyd PARKER spoke from the text "The friend that sticketh closer than a brother." He was assisted in the service by Rev. Mr. ROSEBOROUGH, Presbyterian pastor of Earltown. The Choir of which the deceased had been a member so short a time ago, sand, "The Lord's my Shepherd," also "Abide with Me," while the larger number of relatives and friends looked from the last time on the face of one so highly esteemed and universally loved. The flower covered casket was borne from the church by I.O.O.F. brothers and laid to rest in the Church Cemetery beside his father and mother who predeceased him several years. R. Oakleigh Sarty 1977 Bridgewater Bulletin R. Oakleigh Sarty, 76, of Bridgewater, died Wednesday, May 18, in Dawson Memorial Hospital. Born at New Germany, he was a son of the late Wallace and Laura (Spidle) Sarty. He was a retired employee of Bowater Mersey Paper Company. Mr. Sarty was past Noble Grand of Maple Lodge, No. 155, IOOF. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Marjorie Heisler, Halifax; Mrs. Violet Mosher, Bridgewater; one son, Glenn, Bridgewater; two sisters, Mrs. Mabel Gates, Windsor; Mrs. Lois Dailey, California; one brother, W. Hansford, California; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Effie Stevens; one sister, Mae; and a brother, Elwood. Funeral service was held in the Trinity Lutheran Church, New Germany, with Rev. Rolf Meindel officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Ray Varner, C.E.C. Lantz, Gordon Chesley of New Germany; Ray Wentzell, Margeson Wentzell, of Maplewood; and Milton Rhodenizer of Parkdale.

Born at Upper Branch, she was a daughter of the late Harvey and Ada (Beck) Beck. She was a past member of the Lutheran Women's Association. She is survived by her husband, Carmen Stephen Meisner, Sr.; a daughter, June (Mrs. Warren Connell), Bridgetown; two sons, Atwood and Carmen, Jr., both of New Germany; two sisters, Helen (Mrs. Wallace Naas), Auburndale; Lorna Zinck, Bridgewater; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild. She was predeceased by two sisters, Flossie and Louetta; two brothers, William and Moyle; and two grandchildren. The body is in Langille's Funeral Home, New Germany. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. today at Trinity Lutheran church, New Germany, Rev. Richard Weaver officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. He was a veteran of the First World War, life member of Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 102, New Germany. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, New Germany. Mrs. Jennie E. Feindel 1978 Bridgewater Bulletin Mrs. Jennie Eliza Feindel, age 85, of New Germany, died Sunday, December 3, in Pleasant Rest Nursing Home, Bridgewater. Born at Mill Village, she was a daughter of the late Captain William and Annie (Flick) Parnell. Surviving are three sons, Robert, Max, and George, all of New Germany; a sister, Nellie (Mrs. Guy Zwicker), New Germany; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Harris; two sisters and three brothers. The funeral service was held at Langille's Funeral Home on Wednesday afternoon at 2 p.m., with Rev. Gordon Rigby officiating. Interment was in the family plot in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. Pallbearers were Eugene Lantz, Chester Lantz, Garth Bishop, Bruce Veinot, Carl Mosher, and Everett Barry.
Private M.B. Arenburg 1916 Bridgewater Bulletin The Windsor Tribune- "One of the most impressive sights ever seen in Windsor, was observed Wednesday morning, when the funeral party of the 112th. Battalion escorted the remains of Private M.B. Arenburg, of Stanburne, Lunenburg County, to the train. The body of the young soldier, who passed away the night before from complications following measles, was conveyed to the station on the shoulders of his comrades in arms, who acted as pall bearers. First walked the firing party with arms reversed, next the 112th. Battalion Band drums and bugles, playing the "Dead March in Saul," then the chaplain of the regiment, Ven. Archdeacon Martell and next the bearers with the casket draped with the Union Jack, and then the company of the 112th. with Major Bremner, the adjutant in charge, Colonel H.B. Tremain, officer commanding, Captain J.S. McKay, medical officer, and other officers of the 112th. Battalion, walked with the men. On its way to the station the band played," Shall We Gather at the River." As the funeral party wound its way down from the military hospital and through the streets to the station, the hearts of all spectators went out to the bereaved parents in their sad loss. The mother of young Arenburg came here to be with her son in his last hours. The deceased had contracted measles, which led to complications. He was a bright young soldier, about 18 years of age. He was a favourite with his friends and had he been spared for overseas service would have been a gallant soldier."

She moved to Chester at a young age and was an active member of the Brownies and Girl Guides. She served as District Commissioner of the Girl Guides. She worked as front deak clerk at Oak Island Inn, Western Shore for a number of years. She leaves to mourn her mother, husband, Arthur; son, Dwayne, Ottawa; and daughter, Lisa, Chester; a very special niece, Shanon Sheppard, Chester. She will be greatly missed by many aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was predeceased by her father, brother, Stephen; sister, Beth; maternal and paternal grandparents. EDWARD FRASER and granddaughter of the late Hon.JAMES FRASER and on her mother's side of Rev.JOHN CAMPBELL, for many years Presbyterian minister in Sherbrooke and St.Mary's and great granddaughter of the Rev.JAMES MacGREGOR,D.D., first missionary to Pictou County. The late Miss Fraser was born in New Glasgow and moved with her family to Toronto many years ago. Preceding her death she lived in New York where she was taken ill a few weeks ago. She was brought to Toronto where she passed away last week. Many friends in New Glasgow will remember Miss Fraser and regret to hear of her death. She was the possessor of a paticularly fine and clever mind, the kindest of hearts and was a bright and vivacious conversationalist. She leaves to mourn her passing two brothers JAMES ,in Wananesca, Manitoba; and JOHN C., in Toronto; two sisters, Misses ELIZABETH and KATHERINE BRUCE, both in Toronto.
UNKNOWN PAPER - AUGUST 1923 AGNES MARION MILLER - On Thursday, August 23rd, 1923, the neighborhood of Tatamagouche Mtn. was shocked to hear of the sudden death, at the early ago of thirty-four, of Agnes Marion MILLER, at the home of her cousin Alexander CONKEY. She was in her usual health until a few days previous, when she was taken sick but did not consider herself ill enough to have medical attention, until the morning of the day she died, when Dr. MURRAY of Tatamagouche was summoned. All was done that could be, but Death claimed his own and at ten o'clock that night, just as they were about to operate for appendicitis, her spirit fled to the great beyond. In the immediate family of which she has been a member for a number of years there remain her aunt Mrs. Isabella CONKEY, Mrs. Elizabeth PURDY, and cousins Mr. and Mrs. Alexander CONKEY. Besides these are her father Mr. Geo. MILLER and brother Lawrence, residing in South Tatamagouche; her sister Gertrude, (Mrs. Louis HAMM) Bangor, Me., and Bertha of Newtown, Guys., Co., N.S. all of whom were present at the funeral except the latter who could not be located. In the profession of teaching, Miss MILLER has had a very successful career, and the exceptionally large funeral showed the esteem and respect in which she was held by the people of the sections where she had taught, as well as in the vicinity of New Annan. The funeral was held from the Presbyterian Church at Tatamagouche Mtn. on Sunday at 2 P.M. The services was conducted by Rev. A. T. MacDONALD, Pastor of the Pres-Church of which she had been a valued member for several years, assisted by Rev. P.C. CLARKE, (Baptist) of Maine. The choir sang "Sweetly Resting," Jesus is all the World to Me" and We'll Never Say Good-bye in Heaven." The floral offerings wee beautiful and as follows: Wreath - Tatamagouche Mtn. Congregation. John Quinlan 1933 Progress Enterprise Published: March 15, 1933. The funeral of the late John Quinlan took place Tuesday afternoon and was conducted by Rev. H. Stanley Bland of Central United Church. The late Mr. Quinlan died Sunday at the advanced age of 82 years. He was a highly respected citizen and his passing is mourned by a host of friends.

Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late Raymond and Joyce (Harnish) Clooney. Terry worked for the N.S.L.C. at Hubbards and most recently in Tantallon. He was known by many of his friends as TC and was an avid sportsman, playing goalie for the Hubbards Old Timer hockey team and for many years he played short stop for the Fox Point Scotties slow pitch ball team. Terry will be remembered as a wonderful husband, father, and a much loved friend of many. Doris Veinot 1940 Bridgewater Bulletin The community of Springfield was shocked to hear of the passing of Doris, the second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Burton Veinot, on Sunday morning, April 28th., at the early age of thirteen years and eleven months. Doris had a bright and sunny disposition and was a favourite with all. She was sick only a week and hopes were held for her recovery, until a few hours before she died. She leaves to mourn their loss, her sorrowing ; one sister, Winnie; three brothers, Alex, Franklin, and Burton Jr. The funeral service was held Tuesday afternoon at the Springfield Baptist Church, and was conducted by the Rev. A.F. Hubley. Hymns sung were, "There is a Land that is Fairer than Day," "What A Friend we Have in Jesus," and "Jewels."
