She is survived by brother, Lovit Nickerson of C.S.I. She was predeceased by husband, Paul; daughter, Paulette Mary Atwood and son, Christopher Michael. Beloved mother of Terrance Bruce of Toronto and Jacqueline (Andreas Jamnicz), of North West Harbour. She will be greatly missed by grandchildren, Martin Atwood of The Hawk; Michael (Suzy) Atwood of Barrington; Andreas (Christine) Jamnicz of Toronto; and Jason Jamnicz of North West Harbour. Proud great-grandmother of Dillon, Jullian, Noah, Ocean, and Sailor. A special great-grandmother to Charlotte and Colin. She will be lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews, and friends. Following her wishes, cremation and a private family interment will take place at a later date. Should family or friends so desire, donations to The Salvation Army would be greatly appreciated. OBIT # 5525 - EASTERN CHRONICLE - 26 FEBRUARY 1942 WILLIAM ROBERT McKEAN, a leading citizen of the district and well known throughout the county died at his home at Lyons Brook late Monday night after a three weeks' illness. Endowed with a keen buisness ability, possessing a wide range of interests in community and church affairs, and with a warm and friendly personality, his activities covered a wide range in the life of the community, and his friends were many. He was in his 77th year. Born at Rogers Hill , Pictou County, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. RICHARD McKEAN, he had been a resident of Lyons Brook for more than fifty years. He carried on buisness as a blacksmith, retiring from active work about 20 years ago.. His wife who survives him, was formerly CASSIE CAMERON, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. JOHN CAMERON of Lyons Brook. In December, 1940, Mr. and Mrs. MacKEAN celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Among his many activities Mr. MacKean was a director for many years of the Pictou County Dairy Company, Stellarton and connected with the Pictou County Farmers' Mutual Fire Insurance Company since its incorporation. He was a Justice of the Peace for many years. Prominent in Oddfellowship, he was a member of Eastern Star Lodge and Stuart Encampment, being a past noble grand of Eastern Star. He was a member of Durham Presbyterian Church, took a great interest in the activities of the church, and was a strong temperance worker. A wide reader, particularly in history, he was particularly well informed in the history of Pictou County, especially that of Durham and West River, scene of many developments in the early life of the county. He took a deep interest in the affairs of the Durham Cemetery Company of which he was secretary-treasurer for many years. Some years ago he took a leading part in the restoration of the Durham cemetery, the oldest in the county, where many of the early pioneers are laid. and he searched out and marked all the old graves and compiled a history of each of the early pioneers who are laid there. Besides his wife, Mr. McKean is survived by two daughters, MRS. W. E. HARRIS, Pictou; and MRS. WALLACE MURDOCK, Saint John, N. B. Another daughter died some years ago. Interment was at Durham Cemetery.

UNKNOWN PAPER - 13 MARCH 1956 ADA FORBES - Oliver - Our district and surrounding community was indeed shocked and saddened to hear of the car accident which caused the death of the late Ada FORBES, in Toronto, Ontario, on December 29, 1955. Ada Forbes, youngest daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Nathanial FORBES, was born in the Millbrook school district on February 1(?), 1902. It was there she received her Public and High School education later going to Boston, where she took a hair-dressing course and was employed until she went West with her sister Annie, and brother Eldon in 1925. She was employed by Bishop's and Marvel Beauty Parlors in Saskatoon, until she went to Ontario in 1934. At the time of her passing she was employed by the Anchor Cap Company in Toronto. Last July she visited her twin sister, Mrs. Robert DUNAN, at Lacadena, Saskatchewan, for two weeks. She will always be remembered by her kind and gentle manner and her willingness to help others in time of need. She leaves to mourn four sisters and two brothers; Mrs. Jennie JACKSON, Los Angeles, Mrs. Harold KEARNEY, R.N., Roslindale, Mass., Mrs. Bessie SWAN, R.N., Atlanta Georgia, Mrs. Robert DUNAN, Lacadena, Sask., George FORBES, Nelson, B.C., and Charles FORBES, Tatamagouche. Also many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was a daughter of the late Daniel and Stella (O'Connell) Nickerson. She was a member of Lockeport United Baptist Church and a very dedicated caregiver. She cared for her husband for over 30 years and was awarded the Atlantic Canada Caregiver of the Year Award in 1996 by the Multiple Sclerosis of Canada. She was a devoted mother and loved by all who knew her. She is survived by daughter, Karen Swim (Jack), Lockeport; brothers, St.Clair Nickerson (Darlene), Sandy Point; Rodney Nickerson, Shelburne; sister, Mary Hemeon (Roger), Sandy Point. She was predeceased by her husband, Edward "Ted". Visitation will be held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Saturday in H.M. Huskilson's Funeral Home, Lockeport. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Sunday in Lockeport United Baptist Church, Rev. Lloyd Stewart officiating. Burial will be in Lockeport Cemetery. HECKMAN well known citizen of this town for the past 41 years occured suddently on Saturday January 25th,. The deceased had been in good health until two days before his death and the end came with startling suddenness. News of his decease came as a distinct shock to his many friends with whom he had associated both in buisness and pleasure for many years. Born in Lunenburg, N.S.. 66 years ago, he came to New Glasgow in 1900 and since then he had been a well known figure in buisness and social circles of the community. He was a valued member of Albion Lodge and Mt.Lebanon Chapter Royal Arch Masons. His cheerful nature won him a host of friends and those who knew him intimately will miss his presence greatly. Surviving are his widow and two sons, GEORGE of Providence and CLARKE HECKMAN, training for a radio technician of the R.C.A.F. was called home on Saturday by the sudden death of his father, the late Mr. H.H. Heckman. Clarke returned to his duties yesterday afternoon

UNKNOWN PAPER - 22 AUGUST 1957 PETER HYNDS - French River - The whole community was shocked and saddened to learn of the passing of Peter HYNDS of Tatamagouche, N.S. at the Lillian Fraser Memorial Hospital on Sunday morning, August 14. He had been in ailing health or the past eighteen months but bore his illness with great patience and fortitude. The deceased was the son of the late Jessie (JARDINE) and Keat HYNDS. He was sixty years of age and a life long resident of this place. He was for many years mail carrier on Rural Route number five, and made many friends while serving in this capacity. He was noted for his good nature and cheerful disposition, and was a friend to young and old alike. He was a loving husband and father and will be sadly missed in both the home and the community. He is survived by his wife, the former Mary MacCULLY of Balmoral, and their young daughters, Ruth, Betty and Jean. An infant son predeceased him. He is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. Nettie ROSS, Tatamagouche, N.S., and Sara, Mrs. Angus McLANDERS of Kaslo, B.C. Four brothers predeceased him. The funeral was held from the late home on Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock and the very large attendance testified to the high esteem in which the deceased was held. The service was conducted by Rev. Richmond STEWART of Sharon United Church, who spoke comforting words to the bereaved ones. The Sharon United Church choir was in attendance, the hymns sung being "The Lord is My Shepherd", and "Safe in the Arms of Jesus." A solo, "The Old Rugged Cross," a favorite of the deceased was rendered by John COULTER. The pall bearers were Alex LESLIE, William GLEN, Leslie BONNYMAN, Sidney BONNYMAN, Douglas HALVERSON and Bert HUEGHEN, all neighbours of the deceased. George AITCHESON, F.P. LANGILLE, G.R. DONALDSON, Dr. Dan MURRAY, William McKAY, Clarence LOCKERBY, Warren BELL, D.A. ROSS, Charlie CLARK, and F.R. BUCKLER, ten veterans of World War I of which the deceased was also a veteran, were flower bearers and stood at attention while the casket draped with the Union Jack was committed. The floral offerings were many and beautiful, a silent tribute to the memory of the deceased. Interment was made in the family lot in Sunnybrae cemetery.

Mrs. Stewart, who was eighty years old, arose in the morning, apparently in the best of health and was about her work as usual until about ten o'clock when she was stricken with paralysis, passing away the same evening.

Born at Blue Rocks, he was the son of the late Ralph and Nellie(Greek) Tanner. Before retirement Cedric worked at National Sea Products and the Halifax Shipyards. He is survived by his sister, Eileen Tanner, Stonehurst; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Elizabeth "Sis" (Drysdale); brother-in-law, Hazen Tanner. Arrangements are under the direction of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home, Spryfield. By request, there will be no visitation. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, July 9, at 2 p.m. in Oakridge Memory Gardens, Lower Sackville. Donations in Cedric's memory may be made to a charity of one's choice.

OBIT # 5516 -EASTERN CHRONICLE - 19 FEBRUARY 1942 JOHN LIVINGSTONE CAMPBEL - MOOSE RIVER - There passed away om Feb.7th, 1942, JOHN LIVINGSTONE CAMPBELL at the age of 79 years and six months, a life long resident of Moose River, youngest son of the late WILLIAM and EFFIE (Livingstone) CAMPBELL. He spent all his life on the Old Homestead and was the last of a family of seven, three brothers and three sisters having predeceased him. Mr. Campbell knew and appreciated music and for many years was Choir Director of the Blair Presbyterian Church, Garden of Eden, which he faithfully attended as long as his health permitted. Having been laid aside by failing health he passed many lonely hours happily singing sacred music, as since the death of his sister CHRISTINE sixteen years ago, with whomhe lived The funeral took place from Kirk Presbyterian Church, Blue Mountain on Tuesday, Feb.10th at 2pm. The service which was well attended was conducted by the Rev.Alexander Mills of Thorburn. The Blue Mountain choir led the singing of the favorite hymns of the deceased: "The Lord Is My Shepherd", "Asleep in Jesus, Blessed Sleep", The Sands Of Time Are Sinking". Interment took place in the family plot at Moose River Cemetery. The pall bearers were Dan Chisholm, Alex Stalker, John A. Munro, Albert Chisholm, Judson MacLean and Gerald MacLean.

    3. UNKNOWN PAPER - 8 DECEMBER 1955 ALEXANDER CONKEY - After a lingering illness, Alexander CONKEY of Tatamagouche Mountain, was called to his eternal rest on Monday morning, November 28. He and his wife had spent the past month or more at the home of Mrs. Aubrey BYERS, R.N., West New Annan, where he was tenderly cared for by Mrs. BYERS. He was a son of the late Israel CONKEY and Bella MILLER CONKEY and while health permitted he was a very successful farmer, and spent his entire life at the homestead on Tatamagouche Mountain. Of a quiet disposition, he was a good friend and neighbour, who was always willing to lend a helping hand. He was 79 years old last June, and had been a member of the Central New Annan United Baptist Church for the past 43 years, and a deacon of the church for several years. He was a member of the choir in both the Baptist Church and the Tatamagouche Mountain United Church. The funeral service, held from the Tatamagouche Mountain United Church on Wednesday at 2 p.m., was conducted by the Baptist Pastor, Rev. A.E. TODD, and Rev. Gordon DEKKER, United Church pastor, assisted with the scripture and prayer. Hymns sung by the choir were: "Sweet Peace the Gift of God's Love," "Where He Leads Me I Will Follow," and "Meet Me There." Pall bearers were George COCK, Hedley WILSON, John MacKAY, Aubrey TUCKER, Elmon and Gordon BAILEY. Left to mourn is his wife the former Elizabeth MacINTOSH of Central New Annan, to whom he was married 41 years ago. Two first cousins, Burton COCK and Lawrence MILLER, attended the funeral. Interment was in the Tatamagouche Mountain cemetery with Harry BONNYMAN of Tatamagouche as funeral director. Floral tributes were many and beautiful testifying to the esteem in which deceased was held.

There pssed away on the 9th. inst., at Mahone Bay, an old and respected resident in the person of Mrs. Margaret Power, relict of the late David Power, at the advanced age of 86 years. She leaves two sons and three daughters to mourn the loss of a kind and affectionate mother. The body was taken to Lunenburg where the service was conducted by the Rev. Father Thornton at St. Norbert's Church.
