Born in Aldershot, Kings County, she was a daughter of the late Howard And Jennie (Savage) Robinson. She had been active in community affairs for several years serving as a member and president of the Coldbrook Womens Institute. She was a charter member of the Coldbrook Baptist Church; member of Kings Branch Arthritis Society and was past president of Kentville Gyrette Club. She had been a volunteer worker with Blanchard Fraser Memorial Hospital, Kentville. She is survived by her husband, Fenwick Andrew; daughter, Lynda (Mrs. David Davies), Coldbrook; son, Darrell, Mississauga, Ont.; two brothers, Carl, Steam Mill, Kings County; Grant, St. Pierre et Miquelon; two grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Jean Hutton. The body has been cremated. A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Friday in Coldbrook Baptist Church, Pastor David Irvine officiating. Family flowers only. Ivy Margaret Meisner 1964 Bridgewater Bulletin Handwritten date: June 8, 1964. New Germany- Mrs. Ivy Margaret Meisner, wife of Cecil Meisner, passed away at the Dawson Memorial Hospital in Bridgewater after an illness of two months. Born at Chatham, New Brunswick, fifty-eight years ago, Mrs. Meisner was the daughter of the late Ross and Emma (Craig) Harding. For the past 27 years she has lived in New Germany. Surviving are her husband, Cecil; five sons, Ross of New Germany; Richard with the R.C.A.F., Montreal; Ralph, at the Vocational School, Halifax; George and Gordon (twins), of New Germany; one daughter, Jean predeceased her. Also surviving are three brothers, Max of Liverpool; Clarence of Vermont; Harold, in the Canadian West and several half-brothers and sisters. The funeral service was conducted from Epworth United Church with the Rev. John Powell officiating. Interment was in the Community Cemetery, New Germany. Pall bearers were Merlyn Wright, Laurie Hamm, Gordon Chesley, and Everette Barry. Hymns sung were "Rock of Ages" and "Lead, Kindly Light." Words of comfort were spoen by Rev. Powell to the bereaved family which helped to make the burden lighter. Mrs. Meisner will be missed by her family and friends in the community.

Born at Stanburne, he was a son of the late Percy and Ellen (Jodrey) Oickle. He was self-employed as a farmer and sawmill operator. He enjoyed participating in horse and ox pulling competitions. He is survived by his wife, Joyce (Jodrey); sons, Gary (Marie), Dartmouth; Larry (Valorie) Bridgewater; Terry (Cynthia), Stanburne; Neil (Cheryl), Stanburne; Noel (Helen) Scarsdale; daughters, Sharon (Ronald Everest), Yarmouth; Deborah (Thomas Reeves), Forties; 12 grandchildren; sister, Edith Wentzell, Cookville. He was predeceased by sister, Madeline Bassett; brothers, Arnold and Laurie. Cremation has taken place. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Langille's Funeral Home. BURKE AIKENS, had passed away in Halifax Thursday morning, after being stricken unexpectedly. The funeral will be held Saturday afternoon from the Halifax Funeral Home and with interment in Halifax. Mrs. Aikens is survived by three sons, DR. ROBERT in Halifax, HARRY, professor at Dalhousie, and JACK, also in Halifax; and a sister, GRACE(Mrs. McGrath), Haverhill, Mass. She was predeceased by her husband five years ago and by several brothers and sisters. Mr. and Mrs. Aikens operated Aiken's Drug Store on Foord Street, for many years.
UNKNOWN PAPER - 15 NOVEMBER 1943 DOLINA MAY SCOTT - Wallace - A wide circle of friends will receive with deep sorrow news of the sudden passing of Dolly, wife of George SCOTT, whose death occurred early Tuesday evening, 9th November after several years of illness. During her illness she received the best medical attention given by her devoted family, but without avail. Death came as a blessed release, freeing her from intense suffering she was at times called upon to bear. Mrs. SCOTT, who was formerly Miss Dolly MacKAY, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dan MacKAY, Tatamagouche, was forty-nine years old. After her (...)tion but returned to her home at Wallace Bridge about three years ago. She possessed a happy disposition, was kind-hearted and charitable in thought and deed. She enjoyed a large circle of friends who will miss her cheery smile and kindly greeting, a lover of home and family she will be greatly missed in her home. Seven children survive this union and the death of a devoted mother removes a guiding hand the loss which cannot be estimated. Ellen (Mrs. Gerald O'PRAY) 11 Alice Street, Truro, and Misses Dolina, Isabelle and Elsie and Herbert at home; Henry with the Cape Breton Highlanders now overseas, and William stationed with the R.C.A.F. in Newfoundland. Also left to mourn are her aged parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dan MacKAY and one sister Agnes, (Mrs. WIERS) Alliston, Mass, who was present at the funeral and one grandchild, Gerald O'PRAY Jr. The funeral was held from her late home on Saturday afternoon, which was largely attended by sorrowing relatives and friends. The service was conducted by her pastor Rev. C. TOOTE, who spoke comforting words to those bowed in grief. Members of the choir sang favorite hymns of deceased, "The Lord's My Shepherd," "Asleep in Jesus," "Sleep on Beloved, Sleep." Officiating as pallbearers were brother-in-laws of deceased, Harry MATTATALL, Russell LYNCH, Joe McEACHERN and Laurie LANGILLE. The casket lay banked in flowers, testified the esteem in which deceased was held. Following the benediction the long funeral cortege wended its way to Wallace cemetery where the departed one was tenderly laid to rest. Sympathy in a large measure is extended to the members of the family at home and to her sons in the service who mourn the loss of a much loved mother and to the aged parents and only sister in their irreparable loss.

He was a private guard for Pinkerton's for the past ten years and was a former employee of The Halifax Herald Limited. He was an adherent of the United Church of Canada. He is survived by two brothers, George, Halifax; Peter, Vancouver. The body is at Langille's Funeral Home, New Germany. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday in Epworth United Church, New Germany, Rev. Gary Patterson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Basil Pershing Wagner 2003 Halifax Chronicle Herald Basil Pershing Wagner, 85, Hemford, died Saturday, June 7, 2003, in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born at New Canada, he was a son of the late Alton and Elva (Sarty) Wagner. He worked on a farm in New Canada when he was younger and in 1944 purchased a store in Hemford, which he ran for 27 years and then drove a school bus for 15 years, all the while working at Christmas trees, which he did most of his life. For 40 years he sold monuments. He was a past member of the Christmas Tree Association; past president of the Bus Drivers Union and past president of the New Germany District Suburban Hockey Legue. He was a member of Hemford Fire Department and purchased their first fire truck. As a Masonic Lodge member he was raised August 10, 1945, in Hillcrest Lodge, New Germany. He was Past Master of Hillcrest; Past District Deputy Grand Master and Past Grand Pursuivant of Grand Lodge of Nova Scotia; Past Grand Master of The 3rd. Vail of The Grand Chapter and Past High Priest of LaHave Chapter of Royal Arch Masons. He received his 50 year Jewel in 1995 and the 55 year bar in 2002. He is survived by his wife, the former Iris Julia Wile; and son, Garnet Basil, both of Hemford; brothers, Glen, New Glasgow; Richard, Berwick; sister, Alice, Sudbury. He was predeceased by his brothers, Moyle, Lowell ,Maurice; sisters, Pearl, Olive, Lorna, Florence. Elreta Olive Woodworth 1984 Bridgewater Bulletin Elreta Olive Woodworth of Hemford, passed away peacefully at the home of her daughter, Gerelene Varner, on May 26, 1984, at the age of 83. Born at Hemford, she was the daughter of the late Archibald and Jennie (Feindel) Snyder. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, New Germany, and organist of the Lutheran Church at Hemford for 35 years. She was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother and a friend to all who knew her. She is survived by a daughter, Gerelene (Mrs. Ray Varner), New Germany; three sons, Kenneth, Yarmouth; Bruce, New Germany; and Buster, Wolfville; two sisters, Mrs. Irene Hatfield, St. Martin's, New Brunswick; and Mrs. Grace Arenburg, Kingston; three brothers, Milton, Hemford; Doran, Simpson's Corner; and Oran, New Germany; 24 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Oran S.; two daughters, Pauline and Norene; a son, Glen; three sisters, Doris, Dorothy, and Phyllis; four brothers, Ira, Obie, Richard, Carroll; and three grandchildren.
Oran Silas Woodworth 1959 Bridgewater Bulletin The sudden death on Friday morning, September 25th., of Oran Silas Woodworth, occurred at the D.M. Hospital, Bridgewater. Although in ill health for three years, being a kind and loving husband and father, his death was unexpected. Born at Hemford 61 years ago, the son of the late Silas and Ceretha Woodworth, where he spent his entire life, he served the community and surrounding district as undertaker for forty years. He was a faithful member of the Lutheran Church, where he served as councilman and treasurer for fifteen years. He is survived by his wife the former Elreta Snyder; two daughters, (Norene) Mrs. Donald Morris, Melvern Square; (Geraldine) Mrs. Ray Varner, New Germany; four sons, Kenneth and Bruce, New Germany; Glen, Hemford; and Buster, Wolfville; also seventeen grandchildren; a sister, Cora (Mrs. Charles Markey), of Marlboro, Mass.; and a brother, Lowell of Bridgewater. The funeral service was held in the Union Church, Hemford, on Monday afternoon, where a large number of friends and relatives assembled to pay their last respects. Rev. Glen O'Connor of the Lutheran Parish, officiated at the service and spoke comforting words to the family. Hymns sung were "The Light of the World is Jesus," "Why Not Now," and "Safe in the Arms of Jesus." Interment was in the Hemford Cemetery. Pall bearers were Carroll, Ira, Obed, Doran, Milton, and Llewellyn Snyder.

Surviving besides her father are two sisters, Patricia (Mrs. Charles McGee), Jacksonville, Fla., and Jennie (Mrs. Steven Enman), Steam Mill; two brothers, Walter, Port Williams, and David, Vancouver; two nieces and four nephews. James Ainsley Davis 1909 Lunenburg Progress Bridgewater Enterprise News December 8, 1909. The many friends of Charles Davis of New Germany, formerly of Blockhouse, will regret to hear of the death of his 14 year old son, who passed away on Sunday afternoon. Last Wednesday while walking across the pulp mill bridge at New Germany, he fell, injuring his spine. Everything that could be done for him was done but every effort put forth was unavailing.
Clement William Fralic 1974 Bridgewater Bulletin Clement Fralic passed away at the V.G. Hospital, Halifax, on Monday, August 26th. He was the son of Jean and Stanley Fralic of Barss Corner. He is survived by his wife, Shirley; three sons, Brian, Gary, and Jeffery; and one daughter, Carolanne, all at home; also five brothers, Burnette, Mount Uniacke; Sheldon, Bridgewater; Vernon, London, Ontario; Eric, Barss Corner; Carroll, North River; and three sisters, Sheila (Mrs. Kenneth Kaizer), London; Katherine (Mrs. Coady Robar), London; and Elizabeth, at home. Funeral service was held Thursday August 29th., at 2 p.m., at the Anglican Church, New Germany, with Rev. Jack Tattrie officiating. Pallbearers were Earl Wambolt, Max Arenburg, Earl Bruhm, Paul Robar, Allen Rogers, and Gerald Brewster.
Berlyn William Flemming 1959 Bridgewater Bulletin Friends throughout New Germany and surrounding communities were saddened to learn of the death of Berlyn William Flemming which occurred at his home Wednesday, June 3rd., following a period of illness. Berlyn was hospitalized and operated on April 25th., for a brain tumour. Everything in the line of medical care was given him but to no avail. He rallied after the operation and regained sufficient strength to return home. He was only home a short time when he became ill again and before he passed away he became unconscious. He will be sadly missed in the home, by his fellow labourers as he was a labourer and mechanic, and also conducted a garage when first moving to New Germany. Berlyn William Flemming was born at Stanburne 41 years ago, son of Asaph Lorenzo Flemming and Ida Louise Ramey Flemming. His mother predeceased him in 1952. They lived in Stanburne for a number of years and then moved to New Germany. Always of a sunny disposition, he will be greatly missed not only in the home circle but by his friends who deeply feel the loss of a dear one "Gone home." Surviving are his wife (nee Beulah Hull); four children, Robert, Arthur, Margaret, and Sherwood; his father, Mr. Asaph L. Flemming; a brother, Ivan; and a number of relatives. The funeral which was held on Friday, 2 o'clock at St. John's Anglican Church, conducted by Rev. W.A. Trueman, was largely attended. Hymns sung were "Abide With Me," "Safe in the Arms of Jesus," and "O Master, Let Me Walk with Thee." The pall-bearers were Edward Zwicker, Maynard Varner, Merlyn Wright, and Jacob Penney. Interment was in Lakeside Cemetery beside his mother. Deppest sympathy is extended to his wife and chidlren, his father, his brother and family, and all other relatives.
Nellie Zwicker 1997 Bridgewater Bulletin Nellie Zwicker, 91, of New Germany, died Monday, August 11, 1997, at home, after a lengthy illness. Born at Port Medway, Queens County, she was the daughter of the late Captain William Parnell and the late Annie (Flick) Parnell. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Surviving are a daughter, Roberta (Mrs. Rev. Morris Barss), Lake Fletcher; a son, Elmer, Ottawa; granddaughters, Janet, Heather, Paula, and Carla; great grandchildren, Jeremy, Timothy, Mark, Megan, and Craig. She was predeceased by her first husband, Joseph Zwicker and second husband, Guy Zwicker; sisters, Jennie, Lottie, Scivilla (Vid); and brothers, Daniel, John, Robert, and Frank, in infancy. A private family funeral was held at Langille's Funeral Home, New Germany, with Rev. S.Grant Walls officiating. Burial at Epworth United Cemetery, New Germany. In lieu of flowers, donations were made to the Canadian Cancer Society or charity of choice.

Born at Stanburne, she was a daughter of the late William Ford Joudrey and Opal Myrtle Carver. A member of St. John's in the Wilderness Anglican Church, she worked for Michelin Tire for six years. She is survived by her husband, Winston; a daughter, Cassie; two sons, Michael and Richard, both at home; nine sisters, Ruby (Mrs. Maurice Varner) and Joyce (Mrs. Kendall Oickle), both of Stanburne; Alma (Mrs. Phillip Daury), Springfield; Gladys (Mrs. Roderick Wentzell), New Germany; Doris (Mrs. Vernon Neily)Middleton; Estella (Mrs. Otic DeLong) and Alice (Mrs. Charles Durling), both of Barss Corner; Phyllis (Mrs. Mervyn Ritcey), Baker Settlement; Beulah (Mrs. Leigh Dauphinee), West Northfield; three brothers, Hudson, Bridgetown; Garnet, East Dalhousie; and Tracey, Lower Sackville. She was predeceased by two infant sisters and a brother, Oakley. The body is in Langille's Funeral Home, New Germany. Funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in St. John's in the Wilderness Church, Rev. Jean Jodrey 1933 Bridgewater Bulletin New Germany, January 27- Jean Jodrey, aged sixteen years, passed away at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alex Jodrey, Stanley Section, on Tuesday afternoon. The deceased died of tuberculosis following an illness of nine months and her passing is the first break in a large family. Besides her parents, there survive, three brothers, Joseph, Charles, and Robert, Stanley Section; six sisters, Mrs. Arthur Dorey, Springfield, Mass.; Mrs. Alemeth Smith, Cambridge, Mass.; Mrs. Robert Emino, Simpson's Corner; Mrs. Harold Turner, New Germany; Myrtle and Glennice, at home; also two half-sisters, Mrs. Restus Robar, New Germany; and Mrs. Benjamin Oxner, Watertown, Mass. The fuenral service was held Thursday morning, Rev. Mr. Bullock, Bridgewater, officiating.
