Ira T. Lohnes 1975 Bridgewater Bulletin Handwritten date: July 30, 1975. Ira Theodore Lohnes, son of Oswald and the late Sadie Lohnes of Watford, passed away at his home on Wednesday, July 30th., at the age of 32 years. He was a member of Northfield Lutheran Church. He was a previous oiler on the "Gypsum Queen" of Hantsport. Surviving besides his father are two sisters, Marguerite (Mrs. Alfred Lyons), New Canada; and Linda (Mrs. Charles Horstman), Bridgewater; and two brothers, Paul, Watford; and Beverley, West Clifford; besides a number of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother on April 16, 1975. The body was at Langille's Funeral Home, New Germany, from where the funeral was held, conducted by Rev. Tubbe on Friday, August 1st, at 2 p.m. Interment was at Hillside Cemetery, Upper Northfield. Pallbearers were all friends from Watford, Phillip Jodrey, Waldo Morton, Burpee and Dolan Wentzell.
Olive Marguerite Haughan 2001 Halifax Chronicle Herald Olive Marguerite Haughan, 93, Bridgewater, passed away September 2, 2001, in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born at Bridgewater, she was the daughter of the late Seaforth and Lois (Silver) Publicover. She is survived by daughters, Joan (David) Chandler, Liverpool; Janet (Ron) Maddigan, Oakhill; grandchildren, Debra (Geoff Foulds), Kelly (Randolph Blair), Craig (Lesley), Michael (Beth), Paul (Dawn Ann), bradley, Steven (Becky); eight great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Max. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday in St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Bridgewater, Rev. James Slack Jr. officiating, assisted by Rev. Willis Ott. A private burial will follow in Brookside Cemetery, Bridgewater. A reception will follow the memorial service in the church hall. There will be no visitation at the funeral home by request. Family flowers only. In lieu, memorial donations may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church or the Hillside Pines Home for Special Care, Bridgewater. A former resident of Stellarton he was a miner by occupation and had worked at the Allan shaft. He was a member of Our Lady Of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church. Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Leslie Burrell, Grand Bay, N.B., and a nephew in Moncton. The remains are resting at the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Requiem mass will be held at 10 o'clock Tuesday morning in Our Lady Of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
UNKNOWN PAPER - 18 JANUARY 1944 GEORGE ALEXANDER THOMPSON - Central New Annan - On Monday afternoon, Jan. 10, there passed to his eternal rest, George Alexander THOMPSON age 80 years. Although in failing health for sometime, his death came very suddenly and unexpected, being confined to his bed for only a few days. He was born at Central New Annan the son of the late James THOMPSON, and Christy LOGAN THOMPSON, and of their large family of twelve children only two remain, Malcolm, at the old homestead, Central New Anna, and Robert of Cochranton, Pennsylvania. Several nieces and nephews are also left to mourn the loss of a kind and loving uncle. He was married in 1832 to Mrs. Maud COULTER who passed away last August. Since the time of his marriage he resided in Tatamagouche until last July, when he moved back to the home of his brother Malcolm, who tenderly cared for him, as did also his nephews, Raymond THOMPSON and his wife. The funeral service, conducted by Rev. J.C. LEADBEATER, was held from the Central New Annan Church on Wednesday, January 12. Hymns sung were "Jesus Lover of My Soul," "Asleep in Jesus," and "We are Going Down the Valley". The pall-bears were: John, D. MacKAY, and Aubrey TUCKER. Floral tributes from relatives and friends were very beautiful. The remains were laid to rest in the family lot, at the Bell Gift Cemetery, West New Annan, beside those of his brother Albert, who departed this life six years ago last November.

Colin Remby, Dawson Wolfe, Cornelius Bush, and Percy Burton, son of Mr. George Burton. We deeply sympathize with the sorrow-stricken relatives.
OBIT # 5663 - UNKNOWN PAPER - 1969 Stellarton- Mrs. Marion BARTHOLOMEW, who ran a grocery store on Foord Street for many years, died Saturday in the Aberdeen Hospital. She was 57 and had been in illl health for the past five years. She was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Gregor Lynds, North River, Colchester Co., and was a member of the People's Church. Besides her husband, Hector, she is survived by two sisters; Mrs. Hattie Filmore and Mrs. Betty Barkhouse, both of Truro and a half-brother, Maynard, North River. The funeral was held this afternoon from the Ross Funeral Home, MacDonald St., with Rev.C. Prosser officiating. Interment was in Heatherdale Memorial Gardens.
UNKNOWN PAPER - 10 APRIL 1951 HOWARD MACLEOD - Waldegrave - The death of Howard MacLEOD occurred at his home Waldegrave March 15 after a prolonged illness, during which his health gradually failed. Deceased was in his ninety-second year, a life long resident of Waldegrave son of the late Donald and Jane ROSS MacLEOD both of whom were born in Scotland. He married Margaret Ann MacKAY of West Branch, and on May 17, 1950 they celebrated their sixty-seventh wedding anniversary and were honored with a telegram of congratulations from their Majesties the King and Queen. His death marks the first break in the happy family circle in the MacLEOD home. He is survived by his widow, one son John M. at home, two daughters Annie, (Mrs. J.D. STEWART) Trenton, and Mae at home. A sister Miss Mary MacLEOD, R.N. formerly of Chelsea, Mass, now residing at Trenton. A brother Peter MacLEOD at Vancouver, B.C. Eight grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. Three sisters and four brothers predeceased him several years ago. Mr. MacLEOD was a farmer, and for many years a salesman for the Deval Cream separator Co., Montreal, a position which he held until ill health overtook him several years ago. He was a staunch supporter of the Conservative party, in which he maintained a diligent interest until his death. His home was the centre of true hospitality, and he was indeed a home loving man, ready of wit young in spirit, devoted to young people and never happier than when surrounded by his children, grand children and great grand children and to each of these he was truly a pal. His great-grandson little David MacLEOD was a great comfort to him during his long illness. All through his declining years and last illness he was cared for by his devoted grandson Francis MacLEOD. Other member of the family were also in attendance, and did all they possibly could do to comfort him during a trying illness. (...) Garfield BRUCE of Sharon United Church Tatamagouche officiated assisted by Rev. G.E. WHIDDEN, a former pastor in this congregation. The floral tributes from family and friends were many and beautiful. Hymns sung by member of Brule Church Choir were "The Lord's My Shepherd, "Safe in the Arms of Jesus" and "Rock of Ages." Melbourne George Leary 1948 Bridgewater Bulletin The death of Melbourne George Leary, Sr., occurred at his home at New Germany on February 5, after a period of ill health at the age of 73 years. He was a son of the late George and Destore (Petit) Leary and was born at New Germany, where he resided all his life. He is survived by his sorrowing wife, who was before her marriage Mary Mosssman, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Mossman; also three sons, Melbourne and Maxwell, of New Germany; and George, at home; two daughters, Alice, Mrs. Norman Weaver, Falkland Ridge; and Gladys, at home. There also survive __ grandchildren. The funeral service was held at the Anglican Church on Saturday afternoon and was conducted by the Rev. W.H. Chard. Interment was in the Anglican Cemetery.

She was 79 years of age. Born at New Germany, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Sarah (Joudrey) Mossman. She is survived by two daughters, Alice (Mrs. Norman Weaver), Falkland Ridge; and Gladys, at home; also three sons, Melbourne of Brantford, Ontario; Max and George of New Germany; also fourteen grandchildren and twenty-seven great grandchildren. Funeral services were held from Langille's Funeral Home on Friday afternoon with Rev. James Crooks officiating. Hymns sung were "Rock of Ages" and "Nearer, My God, to Thee." Interment was in the Anglican Cemetery. Pallbearers were James Hawkesworth, Bruce Woodworth, Carl Mosher, and Atwood Meisner.

He was past master of Composite Lodge 105 AF&M, Halifax, past most wise sovereign, Scottish Rite; member of Philae Temple Shrine; an honourary member 33rd. degress master mason and a member of Armcrest Chapter, OES. Colin was grand treasurer of the Royal Order of Scotland. He was an avid golfer and a member of Bridgewater Golf Club. He was also a member of St. Peter's Anglican Church. Surviving are his wife, the former Marie Dorothy Corkum; daughter, Brenda and husband George Holmes, Halifax; son, Gavin and wife Alethea, Toowoomba, Australia; granddaughter, Natalie Marie Holmes; grandson, Scott George Holmes and fiancee Shannon Veniot. She was born at Hemford, June 28, 1912, and was the daughter of the late Fred and Laura Veinot. She is survived by a sister, Marion (Mrs. Eldon Lohnes), Lunenburg; and two brothers, Lauren and Max, both of Hemford. She was predeceased by a sister, Lulu and also her husband in 1963. Pall bearers wereNorman Smith, Ronald MacQuarrie, Simeon Colp, and Marcel Emino. The many floral tributes and memoriams were a silent tribute to the memory of a loved one.
Ralph E. Morton 1963 Bridgewater Bulletin The community of New Germany and surrounding districts were shocked to hear of the sudden passing of Ralph Edmund Morton, adopted son of the late Daniel and Mrs. Morton, which took place of a heart attack while at work in the garage of Burpee Hamm. He had been apparently in good health far as anyone knew, always on the job, and friend to all who knew him. He was born in Digby 49 years ago, son of Mr. and Mrs. VanTassel; his mother passing away,leaving a large family. While a very small boy, he was adopted by Mr. and Mrs. Morton. Left to mourn are his wife, Phyllis (nee Veinot); also nine brothers and sisters in various parts of the province. He was a comrade of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 102, serving in the Second World War overseas. Pall bearers were Comrades Warren Trethewey, Pearlie Holland, Burpee Hamm, John Mader, Milton Varner, and Max Feindel. The funeral was held from L.L.Langille's Funeral Home, Barss Corner and was largely attended. Interment was in the community cemetery, New Germnay, conducted by the Rev. P.S. MacDonald who spoke words of comfort to the bereaved. Organist was Mr. Stewart, student pastor. Hymns were "What A Friend we Have in Jesus" and "Jesus, Keep Me near the Cross."
UNKNOWN PAPER - 12 APRIL 1951 EMMA HAMILTON, widow of the late Woodbury HAMILTON, died this morning at her home, 169 Wood Street, Truro. She was born in Sweden and came to the United States as a young girl. She moved to Nova Scotia with her husband and settled in East New Annan, coming to live in Truro about 10 years ago, following the death of her husband. She is survived by one daughter, Clara (Mrs. Smith MacPHERSON), Tatamagouche, and six sons, Willard and Leslie, both of Laconia, New Hampshire; Rev. George N., Saint John, N.B.; Foster, Onslow, Fred and Sidney, in Truro. One sister, Mrs. Wendal PETERSON, in Belmont, Mass., also survives. The funeral will be held Saturday, April 14, from the Mattatall Funeral Home, Truro, with Rev. Roy VESSEY officiating, assisted by Rev. D.S. CALKIN. Interment will be in East New Annan. l Home, Acadia Ave., after 7 o'clock this evening. Funeral service will be held Friday at 2 o'clock from the funeral home. Interment will be in Auburn Cemetery, Westville.
Allen J. Mailman 1930 Progress Enterprise New Germany News July 30, 1930. The many friends of Allen J. Mailman, formerly of Springfield and lately of Framingham, Mass., were shocked to hear of his death recently due to a paralytic shock, following a short illness. Mr. Mailman was employed as a trainman by the Boston & Albany Railroad for many years. He was fifty-one years old and is survived by three children, his mother, brother, and sister in Worcester; two brothers in Maine and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Foard Feindel, of this place; two brothers-in-law, William and Hezekiah Feindel, also of New Germany. Mr. Mailman was well and favourably known in Lunenburg County where for many years he was engaged in the train service. His passing will be a distinct loss to his friends in this locality.
