    3. S. Eldridge Tumblin 1985 Bridgewater Bulletin S. Eldridge Tumblin, age 91, Bayport, formerly of LaHave Islands, passed away January 15, 1985, in the F.M. Hospital. Born at LaHave Islands, he was a son of the late Simon and Delta (Himmelman) Tumblin. He was a retired fisherman. He went fishing for 71 years. He is survived by a brother, Carl, Bayport. He was predeceased by his wife, Melinda; three brothers, Ellison, Spray, and Urban. Funeral service was held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, January 17, 1985, Rev. Laurence Mawhinney officiating. Hymns sung were "Let the Lower Lights be Burning" and "Abide With Me." Rev. Laurence Mawhinney and his wife sang the first hymn with friends joining in on the last one. Burial was in LaHave Islands Cemetery. Pallbearers were Malcolm Baggett, Marshall Publicover, Leon Hirtle, Lorraine Reinhardt, Wade Hirtle, and Frank Mcauley.

Wolfville Acadian - Thursday 20 January 1927 Page 5 - Local News - Mr. and Mrs. Everett Pineo and family, who for some time back have made their home at Lynn, Mass., returned here this week bringing the remains of their son Earl, who died on Sunday. It is understood that they will probably remain in Wolfville, where many old friends sympathize deeply with them in their bereavement. Earl was seventeen years of age and a popular and promising young man. His death was caused by an absess on the brain. He held the responsible position of chief inspector at the A.E. Little wood heel factory in Lynn. He was a member of the Y.M.C.A. and in regular attendance at the Baptist church. On the same page - Wolfville Boy Dies in Massachusetts - The remains of the late Earl Pineo, son of Mr. And Mrs. Everett Pineo, who recently died in Lynn, Mass., arrived in Wolfville by the afternoon Eastbound train last Tuesday. A short service was held in the Ladies Waiting Room by Rev. R.P. Dixon, after which the body was taken to the town cemetery for interment. The pall bearers were composed of the deceased's Sunday School class, he, while residing here, having been a member of St. John's Sunday School. There was a large attendance at both the station and the grave. Much sympathy has been expressed for Mr. and Mrs. Pineo in the loss of their fine promising son.

Grant 1927 Bridgewater Bulletin New Germany, July 2- The death occurred on Friday morning, July 1, at the Victoria General Hospital, Halifax, in the sixty-first year of her age, of Annie, wife of Colenzo R. Grant, of Barss Corner. Deceased who had been in poor heath for a long time was taken to the hospital about two months ago, in hopes that surgical aid would effect a cure. Although making a poor recovery from the operation, she lingered and death at the end came rather suddenly. Mrs. Grant was the daughter of the late Wiswell and Mrs. Nichols and besides her husband is survived by brothers, George, at home; and Randolph, Timothy, and Kenneth in the United States; and by sisters, Satira, widow of Edward Eaton, at home; Mrs. Harriet Burgoyne, Mahone Bay; Mrs. Freelove Moland, Chester; and Miss Lois Nichols, Mahone Bay. The funeral services will be held Sunday morning with burial in the Baptist Cemetery at Barss Corner and will be conducted by the pastor, Rev. H.W. Hutchinson.

Mrs. Josephine Veinotte 1973 Bridgewater Bulletin Mrs. Josie Veinotte, formerly of New Germany, passed away on February 3, 1973, at the Country Home Nursing Home in Kentville where she had been cared for during the past eight months. She was the last surviving member of the family of the late William and Hannah (Weagle) Veinotte of Baker Settlement where she was born in 1885. Surviving are a daughter, Myrtle (Mrs. Stanley Hubley) of Barss Corner; two sons, Moyle and Clyde, both of Berwick; four grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren; and a niece, Mrs. Myrtle Blake in the United States. She was predeceased by her husband , Stannage, in 1962; an infant son; one brother; and four sisters. She was a member of the Barss Corner United Baptist Church and a life member of the Women's Missionary Society. Possessed of an abundance of energy, it was only in recent years that she was unable to visit her many friends and take long walks as a means of keeping in touch with the community in which she lived. The funeral service was held from Langille's Funeral Home on Tuesday afternoon, February 6, with her pastor, Rev. Carrol Armstrong officiating. Scripture passages read were Psalm 130 and I Corinthians, Chapter 15, with the text being, "Come unto Me, all ye who labour." The Baptist Church Choir led in the singing of the hymn,"Now the Day is Over," a favourite of the deceased. Pallbearers were John Mader, Ralston Eisener, Robert Rhodenizer, Clinton and Stanley Haines, and Laurie Delong. Interment was in the Baptist Church Cemetery.

OBIT # 5691 - EVENING NEWS - 23 APRIL 1973 Stellarton- William Edward BOWRAN, who resided on Bridge Ave., with his grandson Bill Bowran, died Sunday in the Aberdeen Hospital following a lengthy illness. Mr. Bowran was 80 years old and was born in Leamington, Cumberland Co., a son of the late Robert and Sarah Jane (Burden) Bowran. In earlier years he had worked in the mine and joined the CNR in 1929 from which he retired in 1958.He saw service overseas in the First World War and was a member of Branch 28 Royal Canadian Legion. He was also a member of the Retired Men's Club and the Retired Railwayy Men's Association and of the Railway Lodge connected with his work. He was an adherent of First Presbyterian Church. He is survived by a son William, Ontario; two grandchildren and a great grandson in Stellarton. Also surviving are two sisters, Catherine (Mrs. Dick Hayes), Stellarton and Harriet (Mrs. John Brown), Montreal. He was predeceased by his wife the former Mae Graham in 1968 and by three brothers, two of whom were killed during the War in France and by four sisters. The remains are resting at the H.C. MacQuarrie Funeral Home from where the funeral will be held Wednesday at 2pm. Interment will be in Christ Church Cemetery.

She was born at Belmont - 87 years ago and was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Issac ROODE of Belmont. Mrs. HIGGINS was a member of the Missionary Alliance Church. She is survived by one son Ronald, Truro; and two daughters, Muriel (Mrs. Lawrence MacCALLUM), Bible Hill; and Pearl (Mrs. BECKHAM), Middletown, New York; also seven grandchildren and one great grandchild. The late Mrs. HIGGINS is resting at the Mattatall Funeral Home, from where funeral service will be held on Saturday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. W.C. TROYER officiating. Interment will be in the Belmont Cemetery, Belmont.

The service was conducted by Rev. W.G. Killam who spoke comforting words to the bereaved. Hymns sung were "The Old Rugged Cross," requested, and "In The Sweet By and By." Mr. Veinotte passed away after a lengthy illness at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Stanley Hubley. Born in Union Square 86 years and 11 months ago, Mr. Veinotte was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Isaiah Veinotte (the former Anna Rafuse). Surviving are his wife, Josephine (the former Josephine Veinotte), of Baker Settlement; one daughter, Myrtle (Mrs. Stanley Hubley), Union Square; and two sons, Clyde of Berwick and Moyle of Berwick; one brother, Bennett of Union Square; one son predeceased him and four brothers and two sisters predeceased him.

FISHER BROOKFIELD - Hugh Garnet Fisher, Brookfield, 49, passed away at Camp Hill Hospital, Halifax, on Sunday morning after a few weeks illness. Mr. Fisher was born at Middle Stewiacke, the son of the late Austin and Laura Corbett. A resident of Brookfield for the past 11 years, he served in the Canadian Army with the Sherbrooke Fusiliers and the British Columbia Regiment overseas during the war. At the time of his death, he was president of the Stewiacke branch of the Canadian Legion. He was a member of Knox United Church, Brookfield, and of the Board of Stewards. He was a past master of Elm Lodge, Upper Stewiacke, AF and AM, and a member of Scottish Rite. He was very active in community affairs. Mr. Fisher was predeceased by his parents and one brother, Elbert. Surviving are his wife, the former Doris Fulton; two sisters, Miss Ida Fisher, Medford, Mass.; and Elizabeth (Mrs. Watson Conrad) of Middle Musquodoboit. The body is at the Mattatall Funeral Home in Truro. Funeral service will be held in Knox United Church, Brookfield, tomorrow at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. A. Brown officiating. Interment will be at Brookfield Cemetery.

He came with his parents to Middle Stewiacke at the age of four, and in 1940, went to the United States where he was employed at the Boston Navy Yard as a welder for 20 years. Mr. Fisher was a member of the Lexington Methodist Church. Surviving besides his wife, the former Susan Gillingham of Newfoundland, are one daughter, Lorraine, 12; two sisters, Miss Ida M. He had lived in Worcester since 1919. He moved to Holden in 1965. Mr. Webber had worked many years as a carpenter with the former Young Brothers Company. He retired in 1954. His first wife, Ina E. (Dunn) Webber died in 1954. He leaves his widow, Eunice Johnson Webber; three daughters, Miss Meda L. Webber, of Worcester; Mrs. Lila B. Ravin of Tilton, N.H.;and Mrs. Winifred P. Ladd, of Altadena, California; a sister, Mrs. Myrtie Henry, Edmonton; nine grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren. He was born in South Ohio, Yarmouth County, and he was ordained there in 1916 as a minister under the United Baptist Convention. He served as pastor of churches in Freeport, Nictaux, South Ohio, and Barss Corner field. Surviving are his wife (L.Faye Haines), of Freeport; one son, P. Morton, of Lynnfield, Mass.; two granddaughters and three great-grandchildren. He served overseas with the Canadian Army during the First World War and was a military chaplain during the Second World War. The funeral service was held on Monday, June 30, from the United Baptist Church, Middleton, Rev. J. Murray Armstrong officiating, assisted by Rev. A.G. Robertson and Rev. G. McClare. Interment was in the Cambridge Cemetery.

Mrs. Inman was born at Maplewood, Nova Scotia, September 16, 1904, the daughter of Angus and Elmira Baker. She attended schools in Nova Scotia and went to the United States at the age of 18. On April 19 ,1924, she was married to Walter Inman at Bethel. They went to West Paris 41 years ago. Mrs. Inman was a member of the Universalist Church, the Eleanor B. Forbes Class and the Goodwill Society, all of West Paris. She was a member of the Stephens Memorial Hospital uxiliary. Mrs. Inman had been a correspondent of The Lewiston Daily Sun about 15 years and for The Bethel Citizen for many years. Surviving are her husband of West Paris; three sons, Vernon and Milford, both of West Paris; and Byron of Oxford; and eleven grandchildren; five sisters, Mrs. Lena Pearson, Amebury, Mass.; Mrs. Flora Gould, Beverly, Mass.; Mrs. Millie Wentzell, Gorham, N.H.; Mrs. Ella Whitney, Oxfordd; and Mrs. Winifred Watson, West Paris; also a brother, Gilbert Baker, Saint John; and a 106 year old aunt, Mrs. Alice Weldon, Lawrence, Mass.

He was a member of Sharon-St. John United Church, Retired Railwaymen's Association, Southern Cross Rebekah Lodge No.3. He was the oldest Past Grand of the Fuller No.5, IOOF from which he held a 60 year jewel; also the oldest member of Albion Encampment of the Maritime Province, oldest member of Canton Dryden, No.2, Westville. Surviving are his wife, the former Susanna Fraser; three daughters, Kathaleen (Mrs. Norton Lebans), Saint John, N.B.; Helen (Mrs. Roy Murray), St. Andrew's, N.B.; Jennie(Mrs. H.L.P. MacNeil), New Glasgow; nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Also surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Eliza Mabey, Mrs. John Smith, both of Stellarton; Mrs. Alex Gillis, Truro; two brothers, Bert, Toronto; James, Stellarton. He was predeceased by two sons. The remains will rest at the H. W. Angus Funeral Home, King St., New Glasgow, after 7pm this evening. The funeral will be held on Thursday at 2pm from Sharon-St.John United Church. Interment will be in Lorne Street cemetery, New Glasgow.

UNKNOWN PAPER -27 JUNE 1950 PHOEBE MURDOCK - Central New Annan - The death occurred at noon, Saturday, June 17, of one of the Maritimes oldest residents, Mrs. Phoebe MURDOCK, in her 108th year. Her death occurred at the home of Malcolm THOMPSON where she was tenderly cared for during the past few years. Her death removes one well beloved not only in this community but throughout the surrounding district where she was held in high regard. Her life span covering a period of nearly 11 decades, saw many changes and her death removes one of the last links with the days of wooden ships and iron men. The funeral was held from the Central New Annan Church on Monday, June 19, at 2 p.m. Rev. Garfield BRUCE officiating, assisted by Lic. Donald Mac(...). Hymns sung were "The Lord's My Shepherd, "Lead Kindly Light," and "In the Sweet Bye and Bye." Pall bearers were: Eugene SWAN, Charlie LANGILLE, Ted LANGILLE, Louis LANGILLE, Fred CAMERON and Lorne MURDOCK. Interment was in the cemetery at Waugh's River.

    3. James W. Veinotte 1947 Bridgewater Bulletin James W. Veinotte passed away suddenly at his home Friday morning, December 5, 1947, in the presence of his wife and son, DeWayne. Although not in the best of health he had driven the mail from Dalhousie Road to Dalhousie East and return on the previous day (this route he had driven for more than twenty years) and Friday morning attended to the usual chores and was about to get ready to go to Bridgewater for a medical check-up, when he dropped from his chair and passed away immediately. The deceased was a life-long resident of Dalhousie and a member of the Anglican Church. His mother predeceased him just one year ago. Mr. Veinotte was 72 years of age, and besides his wife, the former Georgie Gray, is survived by three daughters, Gertrude, Mrs. Ettney Oikle, of Long island, New York; Lona, Mrs. Ralph Henley of Northfield, Queens County; and Elaine, Mrs. Maurice Daniels of Cape Cod, Mass.; and five sons, Everette of Milan, N.H.; Ethan of Peel, N.B.; Loraine of Kingston, N.S.; DeWayne, at home; and Ronald of Halifax. Also surviving are 24 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. All the family arrived home with the exception of Everett, who sent a telegram of sympathy to his mother. The funeral was on Monday afternoon, with prayers at the home and services at the Anglican Church and cemetery, the Rev. R.A. Neish officiating. Much sympathy is extended to the family, especially Mrs. Veinotte, who has been in very delicate health for some time.

Mrs. Georgina Veinotte, widow of James Veinotte, passed away in Halifax at the home of her son, June 23. The remains were brought home for burial beside her husband. Sympathy is extended to the family and friends.
