OBIT # 8027 - EVENING NEWS - 27 MARCH 1970 Stellarton- Mrs. Annie Scott, the former Annie Jane Fraser, died Thursday evening at Glen Haven Manor following a two-year illness. Born in Westville in 1908, she was a daughter of the late Michael and Janie (MacDonald) Fraser. A devout Catholic, Mrs. Scott was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church and of the Legion of Mary. She is survived by one son, Leo in Stellarton; a step-daughter, Helen (Mrs. Lindy Cameron), Riverton; two sisters, Evelyn (Mrs. Fred Wilson) and Edith (Mrs. James Tucker), Stellarton; two brothers, Michael, Stellarton; and Lonnie, Toronto; and two grandchildren. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband Robert, a son in infancy, four sisters, and three brothers. The remains are resting at the H.C. MacQuarrie Funeral Home, Acadia Ave., and the funeral will be held on Monday morning at 10 o'clock from Our Lady of Lourdes Church. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
U NKNOWN PAPER - RONALD VERNON MACLANDERS March 6, 1960. Brule Corner - This community and surrounding districts were deeply saddened by the death on Sunday, March 6, of Ronald MacLANDERS youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl MacLANDERS of Brule at the early age of 17 years. Ronald had been sick less than four months part of which time he spent at the V.G. hospital in Halifax and part at Lillian Fraser Memorial Hospital Tatamagouche where his death occurred. Having a sunny and cheerful disposition, Ronnie had been a favourite among his many friends. He was an ambitious student in Grade 11 at Tatamagouche Rural High. In his immediate family those left to mourn the loss of a beloved son and brother are his parents and two brothers, Dawson of Brule and Kenneth, a student at N.S. Technical College Halifax; his paternal Grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J. Arthur MacLANDERS of Brule, two little nieces and several Uncles and Aunts.

She greatly loved cats all her life and will be missed by her beloved Freddy and Miss McGoo. OBIT # 8022 - EVENING NEWS - 18 FEB 1960 Stellarton- George Edwin Semple, Hoyt Ave., passed away this morning in the Aberdeen Hospital following major surgery. He had been ill for the past two months. He was born in Stellarton 39 years ago, went to school here and was an employee of the Acadia Coal Co. He was a member of Sharon St. John United Church. Mr. Semple is survived by his mother, Mrs. David Semple; six brothers: Harvey, Sam, Raymond and Gordon at home; Arthur at Middle River, David in New Glasgow; eight sisters: Ola (Mrs. Frank MacNeil), Georgie and Lillian, at home; Isabel (Mrs. Robert Stewart), and Hazel (Mrs. Mel Gadd) in Stellarton, Mary (Mrs. Wilfred Pitts) and Joan in Oakville, Ont.; and Gwen in Toronto. His father predeceased him in 1944. The remains are resting at his late home on Hoyt Ave. The funeral arrangements will be announced later.

She was the former Joanne MacKAY, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James McKAY Waughs River. Her husband pre-deceased by 59 years. She was of a happy and cheerful disposition and had many friends who mourn her passing. Of her it may be said "She looketh well to the ways of her household, her children shall rise up and call her blessed". She was identified with the missionary.

As a young man, Louis served for a brief time with the Canadian Army. Louis was as avid crib player having won many trophies. He was also an avid pool player and he loved to fish. OBIT # 8020 - UNKNOWN PAPER - 21 SEP 1961 Stellarton- Neil Sample, 37, formerly of this town, was killed early this morning while at work with the sanitation department of Willowdale, Ont. According to word received by his family here, he had fallen off the truck, which passed over him. This occured about 3 o'clock and he passed away at 4:30. Mr. Sample was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Sample of Willowdale, formerly of Stellarton. His parents moved to Willowdale some years ago. and this spring celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary, when all their large family were together under the same roof for the first time. Mr. Sample was a member of the United Church. He had spent his holidays here only a short time ago. Besides his parents, he is survived by his wife (the former Lois Fleming) and two sons, Robert and Eldon, of Stellarton; and 16 brothers and sisters: John and Elinor (Mrs. Carl Cosh) in Stellarton; Robert in Westville; Frances (Mrs. Charles Courts), Etta (Mrs.Russell Cade), Bertha (Mrs. T.Chard), Shirley (Mrs.J. Hamson), Elaine, Tom, Claude, Russell, Frank, Bruce, Harold, Wayne and Dell, all in the Willowdale area. The funeral will be held in Ontario at a time to be announced later. Mrs. Sample, Mrs. Cosh and John Sample will be going up to attend the services.
UNKNOWN PAPER - JOHN A. MATHESON July 3, 1961. This community was deeply shocked when word came of the tragic death of John A. MATHESON on Tuesday July 3 following an accident at his home at Willow Church Road. Mr. MATHESON came in contact with a high tension wire and was severely burned. He was rushed to Lillian Fraser Memorial Hospital where he died shortly after admittance. He was 72 years of age. He was born here and lived his entire life in this community except for 1 year spent in the Canadian west and was a successful farmer. He was a member of Sedgwick Memorial Church and also of the I00F Liberty Lodge No 120. He possessed a keen sense of humor and ready wit, was a true friend and good neighbour respected by all who knew him. He leaves to mourn the loss of a kind and loving father and husband his wife Sarah J. REDMOND, two sons, Jack in Toronto, Arthur, Amherst, two daughters Velda (Mrs. Ivan MacKAY) Summerside P.E.I., Betty (Mrs. Perry WHITTLE) Amherst and eleven grandchildren, two brothers William A. and Walter both of Tatamagouche and a sister Ethel (Mrs. A. PAIGE) Newburyport Mass., who were all present at the funeral. The funeral service was conducted by his Pastor Rev. John FARTIER who spoke comforting words to the bereaved family. Interment was in Lockerby's Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jack McKINNON, Bert HOLMES, Harold McCONNELL, Clarence MATHESON, Stanley MATHESON and Harold MATHESON. Deepest sympathy is extended to Mrs. MATHESON and family in their sad bereavement.

She is survived by a son, Stewart, Kentville; two brothers: Edward, Stellarton and D.C. MacDonald, New Glasgow. The body is at the W.C. Hiltz Funeral Home, Kentville until today at 2 p.m. when it will be transferred to MacQuarrie's Funeral Home, Stellarton.

He was a member of the Independent Order of Oddfellows (I00F) and Past Noble Grand. He was also a member of the Encampment and Rebekah Lodges and was an adherent of Sharon United Church. He is survived by two daughters Elsie (Mrs. Ernest COLE) Tatamagouche and Marguerite (Mrs. Otis RUSSELL) Dartmouth, one brother Charlie Springhill Junction, one sister Mrs. Harry HAYMAN Victoria B.C., six grandchildren and five great grand children. He was predeceased by his wife the former Edith TATTRIE and two brothers Hughie and Smith. A Rebekah's and Oddfellow Memorial service was held Monday night Jan. 7, and the funeral was held Tuesday from the Sharon United Church Rev Kenneth ROBINSON officiating. Burial was in Lockerby's Cemetery. Pallbearers all Oddfellows lodge members were Henry MURRAY, Harold McCONNELL, Bruce TUCKER, George COX, Aubrey KIRK, and Otis MacKINNON.
