Robert Gregory Hirtle 2005 Halifax Chronicle Herald >From the collection of Charlene Veinotte Robert Gregory Hirtle, 51, Petite Riviere, died suddenly in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater on April 18, 2005. Born in Bridgewater, he was a son of Millie (Robar) Hirtle, Bridgewater and the late Ralph Hirtle. He was previously employed with Seamean-Cross, Halifax, Mersey Seafoods, Liverpool, and National Sea Products, Lunenburg. He was presently a valued employee of Gow's Home Hardware, Bridgewater. He was a former member of Bridgewater Fire Department and presently served as secretary of Petite Riviere Fire Department, where he received his 25 year service medal. He was a former chairman of the Second Petite Riviere Scout Troop. Robert was educated at Bridgewater Elementary School and graduated from Queen Elizabeth High School, Halifax in 1972. He went on to receive his BBA from Acadia University. He was a devoted husband to Debora A. (Conrad) Hirtle, his soul mate for the past 24 years, and loving father to his son, Reece, at home. He is also survived by brother, Corwin (Rose-Marie), Oakland; several aunts, uncles, and cousins; one niece and two nephews. There will be no visitation at the funeral home. Memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Friday in St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Bridgewater, Rev. Willis Ott officiating. Private family burial will be held at a later date. Family flowers only. At the age of 14, Milton began his working career with Lawrence Veinotte of Middle Cornwall, now his brother-in-law; later with Maurice Bruhm Lumber Mill, Middle Cornwall, and then with the former Nathan Joudrey and Sons and Dafron Industries, both in Blockhouse 25 years ago. Milton struck out on his own, founding and operating Milton Fancy & Sons Oars and Paddles. He was a faithful member of New Cornwall United Baptist Church where, over the years he was an usher, a member of the finance committee, bell ringer, and choir member. Besides his parents, Milton is survived by his wife, Melba (Veinotte); sons, Carson (Lorna Harris and her daughter Ashleigh), Bedford; Van, Middle Cornwall,(Janice Dares and her daughter, Angie (Billy LeBlanc); her grandchildren, Devin and Mackenzie and her son, Bub Dares); sister, Marguerite Barkhouse, Lower Cornwall; brother, Arnold (Diane), Clearland; nieces and nephews; many, many good friends. UNKNOWN PAPER - SAMUEL TATTRIE October 25, 1964. Samuel TATTRIE died in the Lillian Fraser Memorial Hospital on October 25. He would have been 91 had he lived until December 1964. He was born at French River Colchester Co. His wife the former Miss Minnie DOREY, of St. Margaret's Bay, predeceased him five years ago. Surviving him are three daughters, Mrs. Marion SPINNEY, Mrs. Alex MacDONALD, and Mrs. Helen MILLET, five sons, Elzie, Laurie, Harold, Bernie, and Lloyd; sisters Katie and Millie; brothers Fred and Bert. The funeral was from Sharon United Church Tatamagouche, on October 27, with the Reverend Robert MILLS conducting the service. The Hymns sung were "The Old Rugged Cross", "Safe in the Arms of Jesus", and "Rock of Ages". The pallbearers were Roland, Dick, Dennis, Blair, Carson, and Basil TATTRIE, all grandsons of the late Mr. TATTRIE. The floral tributes were many and beautiful, showing the affection in which the deceased was held. Burial was in the family lot at French River. The deceased had lived all his life at French River.

Born in Burin, Newfoundland, he was a son of the late John and Katherine (Hoare) Doody. He fished the Grand Banks, Alaska, Lunenburg, and Shelburne from the age of 13 years. He was responsible for outfitting the first scallop fleet in Alaska. He was captain of the fishing vessel "Knock" for many years and fished with his son, John, in the United States until his retirement. He served as a member of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Parish and was vice president of the Bridgewater Seniors Club and was the "Senior South Shore Cribbage Champion." Surviving are son, John (Eleanor), Absecon, New Jersey; daughter, Patricia Wilson (Gerald), Bedford; grandchildren, John Patrick, Joseph, Jacqueline, Christopher and great-granddaughter, Rachel; sisters, Madeline and Mary; Theresa, who died today, January 2, 2001. Hope), Cold Lake, Alta; four sons: Joseph, MacPherson's Mills; Frederick Portage La Prairie; Richard, Comox, B.C.;Bernard in Edmonton; three sisters: Miss Gertrude Scully, Lourdes; Sister Elizabeth, Port Hawkesbury; Sister Flora, Halifax; and two brothers: John in Waltham, Mass.; and Andrew in Lourdes. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Catherine Grant, three years ago, and also by a sister and a brother. The remains will rest at the H.C. MacQuarrie Funeral Home, Acadia Ave., after 7 this evening and the funeral will be held Saturday at 2 p.m.from Our Lady of Lourdes Church. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
