UNKNOWN PAPER - NOVEMBER 1936 - RUFUS MACNUTT It is with marked regret and a sense of personal loss we record the death on Saturday evening Nov. 21, 1936, of Rufus MacNUTT, one of (Sandville) Barrachois, best known and most respected citizens. The deceased had not been enjoying good health during the past years, suffering with an effection of the heart. A week ago he was taken very ill and his condition became critical and in spite of all that loving hands and hearts and medical skills could do he grew weaker and weaker until the end came as stated and he passed on to the home beyond. The late Mr. McNUTT was born at New Annan 74 years ago he moved with his family to Barrachois when he purchased a farm and has since resided. He was an industrious farmer a man of sterling worth in the community in which he gave of his best effort until illness caused him to live quietly. A friend of both young and old he will be sadly missed. In politics he was a staunch conservative even remaining true to the interests of his party. He is survived by a widow formerly Miss MacKAY of Waughs River and three sons Ray in the Canadian West, Russel in South Africa, and Sterling at home. Two brothers Havelock MacNUTT at Tatamagouche Mtn and Calvin McNUTT at North River also survive. The funeral was held from the home residence Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock and despite the inclemency of the weather was attended by many sympathizing friends from far and near. Rev. G.E. WIDDEN pastor of Sharon United Church Tatamagouche conducted the service bringing a message of comfort and solace to the bereaved family. Members of the choir led in the singing of hymns, favourites of the deceased. Interment was at New Annan Cemetery. We extended heart Felt sympathy to the widow and remaining members of the family at home and abroad in their sad affliction. Three sisters also survive Mrs. Robert KENNEDY, Mrs. Robert AITCHESON and Mrs. C.J. COCK all of New Annan.
OBIT # 8075 - EVENING NEWS - 20 MAY 1964 Westville- Harlin Norman Stewart, Cowan St., died in the Aberdeen Hospital at 3 o'clock this (Wednesday) morning following a short illness. He was stricken at his home Monday. He was a son of Mrs. Norman Stewart, Westville, and the late Mr. Stewart who died three years ago in June. Born on Jan.16,1910, he received his education here and worked at the Allan Shaft, the Drummond, Eastern Woodworkers Ltd., and just prior to his death, on the Maritime Telegraph and Telephone Company maintenance staff at New Glasgow. He was well-known and an excellent neighbour. He belonged to St. Paul United Church and was active in both regular and male choirs of the church. Mr. Stewart is survived by his wife, the former Minnie Price of Stellarton; three brothers, Wesley and Keith in Westville, and Gordon in New Glasgow; one sister Norma (Mrs. Burns Muirhead), Westville. Two sisters predeceased him. The funeral arrangements will be announced later.
Freeman Ernst February, 1920. Bridgewater Bulletin Death has taken away, February 1st., one of our young men out of this place, Freeman Ernst, aged 28 years, son of Mr. and Mrs. Cornelius Ernst. He leaves a wife, an infant son, a father, mother, four sisters, and four brothers, to mourn their loss. His body was interred in the Baptist Cemetery in Dalhousie. The sermon was preached by Rev. E.V. Nonamaker from Wentzell's Lake, assisted by Rev. H. Puddington from Springfield.

Born in East Dalhousie, she was a daughter of the late Amos and Amelia (Wentzell) Veinotte. She is survived by three daughters, Guida (Mrs. Dwayne Veinotte), Wilmot; Margaret Gaul and Charlotte Pare, both of East Dalhousie; five sons, Errol, Marcus, and Ivan, all of East Dalhousie; Edwin, Waterville; Arthur, Lake Paul; two sisters, Alice, The Forties; Charlotte, Halifax; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Stanley; a daughter, Isobel; two sisters, Delilah and Elizabeth; two brothers, Kenneth and Harold; a grandchild. The body is in Langille's Funeral Home, New Germany. Funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday in St. Cyprian's Anglican Church, East Dalhousie, Rev. Gordon Neish offficiating. Born 65 years ago at Goldenville, Guysboro County, he was the son of the late John and Carrie(White) Stewart. He was a retired coal miner and woodsman by trade. Besides his wife the former Annie Doucette, he is survived by four daughters: Irene, Ontario; Lois (Mrs. Ronald MacDonald), Ontario; Francis (Mrs. C. MacKenzie), New Glasgow; Joan (Mrs. Raymond Arnold), Greenwood; three sons: Raymond and Donald, New Glasgow; and Robert, New Glasgow; 29 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Also surviving is one sister, Stella (Mrs. Neil Sutherland), New Glasgow; three brothers: Otto and Oswald, Ontario; and Russell, Stellarton. The remains are resting at the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, 55 Almont Ave., New Glasgow, from where the funeral will be held on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. Interment will be in Heatherdale Memorial Gardens.
UNKNOWN PAPER - LINTON MACBURNIE Malagash - Dec 1. The death occurred early Tuesday morning Nov. 24, 1959, at Fraser Memorial Hospital, Tatamagouche, Linton MacBURNIE following an extended illness. He was born at Brule on January 1, 1877, the son of the late William and Martha (STUDIVAN) MacBURNIE. As a young man he lived for a time in the United States later returning to settle in Nova Scotia. An invalid for many years, he made his home with Mr. and Mrs. Minard HAYMAN, Waughs River and was a patient in the Fraser Memorial Hospital for weeks prior to his passing. Surviving him are three sons, Norman MacBURNIE, Saint John, a son of a former marriage; James MacBURNIE, Brantford, Ont. Pte. Walter MacBURNIE, London, Ont., and three daughters, (Jean) Mrs. Wilfred RIPLEY, Brighton, Ont., (Margaret) Mrs. Clarence CHAMBERS, Sand Point, and Miss Shirley CHAMBERS, Truro. Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Annie KEYES, East Boston, and Mrs. Maggie MacRAE, North River, and one brother, Norman MacBURNIE of Malagash. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Miss Ella PERRIN of Springhill, two sisters, (Eunice) Mrs. William HARDING, Rhode Island, and Marjorie (Mrs. Harvey CARRUTHERS), Brule and one brother, John William MacBURNIE of East Boston. The funeral service was held on Thursday, November 26, at the Barrachois United Church with Rev. W.H. THOMAS, pastor of the Malagash United Church, officiating. The Barrachois choir, with Mrs. Clifford ROSS as organist sang favorite hymns, "Work for the Night is Coming" and "Abide With Me". Pallbearers were Minard HAYMAN, Frank HAYMAN, Earl HAYMAN, Henry HAYMAN, Owen WEATHERBY and John MacLEOD. The beautiful floral offerings bore tribute to the esteem in which the deceased was held. Interment was at Lockerby's cemetery, with H.R. BONNYMAN officiating.

Born at Wake Up Hill, Lunenburg County, she was the youngest daughter of the late Henry and Emma (Barkhouse) Morash. She was a loving wife to her late husband, Harold, for 46 years. They worked side by side all their married life; in the early years in a lumber camp and much later they established Harold Little Sales and Service in Auburndale. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Left to mourn her loss are daughters, Sharron (George) Haughn, West LaHave; Linda (Greg) Corkum, Mount Pleasant; son, Craig (Jill), Auburndale; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren. UNKNOWN PAPER - HELEN MILLETT 1971. Tatamagouche, May 4 - Mrs. Helen MILLETT, 47, died in the Victoria General Hospital, Halifax on Tuesday, April 27. She was the youngest daughter of the late Samuel and Minnie (DOREY) TATTRIE, French River. She was a Rural Mail Courier from the Tatamagouche Post Office and a member of Sharon United Church. The largely attended funeral service was held in Sharon United Church on Thursday, April 29, with Rev. Gilbert F. TODD officiating. "The Beautiful Garden of Prayer" was sung by the choir. Mr. TODD spoke on Jesus' ministry in healing the broken heart. "Good Night and Good Morning" was sung by John COULTER. She was predeceased by her parents. Surviving is her husband, George MILLETT; one daughter, Joanna; two sisters, Miriam (Mrs. John SPINNEY), West Tatamagouche; Annie (Mrs. Alex MacDONALD); four brothers, Bernie, Elzie, Laurie and Lloyd TATTRIE, all of Tatamagouche, several nieces and nephews. The many beautiful floral tributes bore a silent testimony to the esteem in which she was held. Pallbearers were Basil, Dennis, Errol and Dick TATTRIE and Richard LANGILLE, all nephews. Interment was in the Lockerby Memorial Cemetery.

He was an industrial arts teacher for 39 years, spending 30 of those at Shelburne Regional High School. For 26 years, he taught driver education training at the school as well. Wild life and the outdoors were passions of Perley's. He was an active member of the Shelburne County Fish and Game Association and was also a member of the Shelburne Area Lions Club. Perley's talent with a piece of wood and a carving knife will be forever remembered in his beautiful works of art. Born October 21, 1939, he was the youngest son of the late Newman and Marion (Townsend) Goodwin (formerly of Shelburne). He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Betty (Harris); son, Mark (Barb), Amherst; daughter, Maureen, Winnipeg; sister, Marion (Ed) Toombs, Bridgewater; brother, Ernie (Evelyn), Northwest Harbour; grandsons, Alex and Ryan; granddaughters, Nicole and Alishia; two nieces; two nephews, and several cousins. Herbert James Silver 1957 Bridgewater Bulletin The death of Herbert Silver occurred at the D.M. Hospital at Bridgewater at an early hour on Tuesday, July 23rd, after a lengthy illness, of the past two months spent at the V.G. Hospital, Halifax and the D.M. Hospital. Born at Hemford March 5th, 1872, he was the son of rhe late David and Ellen (Veinot) Silver. Living most of his life here with some time spent in the United States, he joined the C.N.R. as section man when the railway was built here at the turn of century, retiring at the age of 65. Mr. Silver took an active part in all community work and was an adherent of the United Church of Canada. He is survived by his wife, the former Lottie Wile, of Wilmot, Annapolis County, and six daughters, (Grace) Mrs. William Barkhouse, New Germany; (Ivy) Mrs. Allison silver, Nineveh; (Jessie) Mrs. Edward Turner, Simpson's Corner; (LaVerta) Mrs. Raymond Silver, Schieber, Ontario; (Evora) Mrs. James Pico ,Flin Flon; and Miss Jean, at home; one brother, Walter Silver, Hemford; and six sisters, (Dora) Mrs. Elmer Lincoln; (Hattie) Mrs. Uriah Varner; (Beatrice) Mrs. Aubrey Hurlbert, all of Dorchester, Massachusetts; (Ella) Mrs. Ford Wiles and Miss Jessie, Cambridge, Massachusetts; and Miss Winnie, at Hemford. Their only son, Harold, passed away ten years ago.

He was born in Belgium, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Stalman and was 64 years old. He came to Canada when he was four years old residing in Coleman, Alta., and came here in 1927 where he had worked as a miner for many years and was later employed by the Pictou County Bus service. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church. He is survived by his wife, a daughter Amelia (Mrs. George Van Auden Hiben), Antigonish; two brothers, Victor, Acadia Ave.,Stellarton; and Emile in Vancouver presently in Hawaii; a sister Pauline in Belgium and two grandsons. The remains will rest at the home on Foord St., and the funeral will be held from Our Lady of Lourdes Church. Interment will be in the parish Cemetery.
Mrs. Silas Woodworth 1947 Bridgewater Bulletin New Germany, July 13- The sudden passing of Mrs. Silas Woodworth occurred at her home in Hemford, Lunenburg County, on Thursday, July 10. She had been in poor health for several years. The late Mrs. Woodworth was before marriage Ceretha Mailman, daughter of the late David Mailman and Sarah Zwicker Mailman abn was born in Hemford, where she lived her entire life. Had she lived until October, she would have reached the age of 79 years. She was the last member of her immediate family . As long as health permitted she took an active part in the life of the community, as a member of the United Church of Canada, Willow Rebekah Lodge, and Hemford Women's Institute. Surviving are her husband; one daughter, Cora, Mrs. Charles Markey of Marlboro, Massachusetts; four sons, Carson, also of Marlboro; Lowell with the C.N.R., Bridgewater; Oran, undertaker at Hemford; and Ivan, also of Hemford. There are a number of grandchildren. A son, Allan, died some years ago. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday morning at the Union Church, Hemford, by her pastor, Rev. S.G. MacQueen. Pallbearers will be her four grandsons, Kenneth, Bruce, Glen, and Buster Woodworth. Burial in Hemford Cemetery.
