OBIT # 8091 - EVENING NEWS - 3 October 1973 Trenton- Hawker Siddeley officials were carrying out an investigation today into the accident which claimed the life of 31-year-old Lawson Willard Terris, a welder in the steel erection track Tuesday. Mr. Terris was fatally injured when he was reported to have been jammed between two railway cars being built at the plant. He was rushed to the Aberdeen Hospital by ambulance after the accident but died a short time later. Other details surrounding the incident would not be available until the plant investigation was completed. He was a son of Lawson and Myrtle (Trott) Terris. He had been a welder at the Hawker Siddeley car works for the past nine years, and was a member of the Stellarton Recreation Commission, and of Branch 28, Royal Canadian Legion. Surviving besides his parents are his wife, the former Paulette Vacheresse; two daughters, Sheila and Tracy, and a son , Donald, all at home. Also surviving are three sisters, Brenda (Mrs. Dan Grant), Dryden, Ont.; Mrs. Nancy Dale, Eva, both of Stellarton; and a brother, Stephen Gerald, Stellarton. He was predeceased by a brother, Peter, three months ago. The remains will rest at the H.C. MacQuarrie Funeral Home after 7 p.m. this evening. The funeral arrangements are incomplete. Interment will be in Christ Church cemetery.

He had worked over 40 years for the City of Calgary on street and road construction. He is survived by seven cousins. She was a member of St. John's Anglican Church, Chester Basin, where she sang in the choir for over 50 years and was an honourary member of the church guild and auxiliary. She was superintendent and taught Sunday School for many years, was a Girl Guide leader, associate member of Everett Branch 88, Royal Canadian Legion, Chester Basin, life member of the Legion Ladies Auxiliary and a volunteer canvasser for many charitable organizations. Clara will be sadly missed by her loving husband of 65 years, Bruce; daughter, Diana (Tom) Hatt, Chester Basin; grandson, Stephen Hatt; granddaughter, Susan (Martin) Swinemar; great-grandchildren, Delbert and Lucas Swinemar; sisters, Prue (Earl) Zwicker, Chester Basin; Laurel (Bill) Smith, Chester; many nieces and nephews. Robert Calvin Tanner 2005 Halifax Chronicle Herald >From the collection of Charlene Veinotte Robert Calvin Tanner passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer, in Fishermen's Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg, on Wedneday, October 26, 2005, at the age of 75. Robert went fishing at an early age, later working at Powers Brothers and Lunenburg Electric Limited. After he retired, he was a friend to many who required his knowledge and Uncle Robbie to his nephews and nieces. He is survived by his wife, Vivian; daughter, Gail and he was Poppy to his granddaughters, Juliett and Abby, and is also survived by brother, Roseville, Lunenburg. He was predeceased by sister, Joyce Conrad and brothers, Douglas and Bernard. Cremation has taken place and a commttal service will be held in Heckman's Island Cemetery at a later date. He is survived by his wife, the former Elizabeth "Betty" Anthony; daughters, Erin (Jeff) Ingram of Mersey Point; Sharon (Tim Parnell) of Liverpool; son, Lawrence Jr. "Larry" (Wendy) of Milton; five grandchildren; sisters, Carrie Oickle of Bridgewater; Sandra (Arnold) Johnson of Coldbrook; brothers, James (Jessie) and Norman (Hazel), both of Milton; John, Paul (Shirley), Stanley, and Carl (Marilyn), all of Liverpool. He was the son of Samuel Baker, Tremont, Kings Co. and Elizabeth Tupper Baker, daughter of the late Rev. Dr. Tupper. He was laid to rest in the Tremont cemetery, beside his former wife, Love A. Harris, and his daughter Lulu. Beautiful flowers covered his casket, the last tribute of love by his wife and children and granddaughter. Rev. Wilson, of Middleton, conducted the service at Tremont. The choir sang favorite hymns of the deceased, "Rock of Ages," "Sun of My Soul" and "Abide With Me." A beautiful solo. "The Christian's Goodnight," was sung by Mr. Frank Martyn. Those left to mourn their loss are his wife, formerly Euphemia Barteaux, of West Inglisville; his children, Maxwell Baker, Elizabeth Messenger, George Baker, all of South Natick, Mass., and Nathan Baker, of Canton, Mass.; also many grandchildren and great grandchildren; one brother, Calvin Baker, of Tremont. Deacon Baker united with the Lower Aylesford Baptist Church at the age of 15 and lived up to his pledge; always trying to help in every good work for the Spiritual Uplift of his comrades. Ever faithful, he was a loving husband and father. He will be missed by a host of friends. His daily prayer was for an early dismissal from the body, and an abundant entrance into God's Kingdom. He lived on Cape Negro Island and finally lived the rest of his life in Shelburne. He was a dory builder in his teen years for Charlie Wyman, a lobster fisherman. He served in the Second World War in Europe and in later years retired as the government wharfinger in Shelburne. Surviving are his wfie, Ida Louise (Woodfine), Shelburne; sons, Gordon, Shelburne; Charles and his wife Barb, Shelburne; Robert and wife Barb, Kingston; daughters, Carol (Mrs. Gordon Foote), Moncton; Shirley (Mrs. Dale Thomas), Thomasville; stepdaughters, Ida (Mrs. Arnold Shand), Bear Point; and Dorothy (Mrs. Clifford McNulty), Ottawa; 20 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren. Born in Lunenburg, he was a son of the late Orlando and Alice (Payne) Lace. At age 7, he made his first trip to sea with his father. While completing his education, he continued to fish until 1959. He was a recipient of the Dow award during that time. He then was employed with Imperial Oil attaining the position as captain, retiring in 1985 after 26 years of service. After his retirement, he continued with his love of the sea and inshore fished for a number of years and was a member of the Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary Marine and the Company of the Master Mariners of Canada. He was a member of St. John's Anglican Church, Lunenburg. He was a 50 year member of Unity Lodge 4 of the Masonic Order, Lunenburg and a lifetime member of the LaHave Chapter 17, Royal Arch Masons of Nova Scotia. He was a member of the Dartmouth Esso Annuitant Club and the Lunenburg Rod and Gun Club. After attaining his pilot's license, he owned a sea plane which he enjoyed for many years. Orlanso is survived by his wife, the former Marguerite Marie Mosher; daughters, Jean (Richard) Leary, Halifax; Nan (Ross) Richards, Corkum's Island; sons, Orlando and Carolyn Gray, Williams Wood; Leslie and wife, Della, Italy Cross; sisters, Marion (Cy) Ruth, Sackville; Madelyn (James) Peterson, Mississauga; grandchildren, Melissa Kate Leary, Crystal Dawn Lace, Jared John Lace, and Jordan Gray Lace. Talbot, a native of New Glasgow, N.S. had only 17 bouts in his career but went on to train some of the best fighters in the region, including former Canadian light heavy weight champion Yvon Durelle and former Canadian middle-weight champion Buddy Daye.

Surviving are his wife, the former Greta COULTER; two sons, Murray, Brookside; Donald, Kelowna, B.C.; a brother, Victor, North Vancouver; and five grandchildren. He was predeceased by a sister, Alice, three brothers, Archie, Lorne and Aulley. The body was at Mattatall's Funeral Home, Truro, where funeral service was held today, Rev. Dr. Frank MacLEAN officiated. Burial was in Monument Hill cemetery, Richmond, Cumberland County.
