Born at Rose Bay, she was one of eight daughters of the late Captain Forman and Emma (Mosher) Mossman. She was a graduate of Lunenburg Academy and Mount Saint Vincent University. She was a member of St. George and St. Andrew United Church in Annapolis Royal where she was the former director of the junior choir; superintendent of the Sunday School; was active in the U.C.W.; a former member of the Board of Stewards and a member of the senior choir. She was a teacher for many years having taught in Rose Bay, Petite Riviere, West Gore, and Annapolis Royal, where in later years her focus was on high school mathematics. She had a tremendous sense of humour and a real love of music. She is survived by her son, Dr. David (Donna) Rippey, Stillwater Lake, Halifax County; stepgrandchildren, Scott and Kristy Walsh, Halifax; sister, Violet (Austin) Colquhoun, Sand Beach, Yarmouth County. She was predeceased by her husband, Max; sisters, Daisy, Amy, Marion, Frances, Rosa, and Vivian. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. today in Robert L. Hall Funeral Home, Annapolis Royal. Memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, in St. George and St. Andrew United Church, Rev. Alfred Woodworth officiating. Interment will take place in Woodlawn Cemetery. A reception will be held in the church hall following the interment. Roderick MacDonald Black 2002 Halifax Chronicle Herald Published: Tuesday, November 26, 2002. >From the collection of Gwen Christie Roderick MacDonald Black, Q.C., "Rod", 82, Chester, died November 25, 2002, in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in Amherst, he was the only child of the late Honourable Percy C. and Jean M. (MacDonald) Black. Rod received his early education in Amherst and Bishop College School, Lennoxville, Quebec. He served overseas during the Second World War from 1942-1945 with the Royal Canadian Air Force; graduated from Dalhousie Law School in 1949 and practiced in Halifax. He was appointed to the Board of Hospitalization in the late 1950's; was chairman of the Board of Medicare; chairman of the Board of Victoria General Hospital 1981-1983 and he was Chief Commissioner of the Nova Scotia Liquor Commission. Rod was a very active member of the Provincial and Federal Progressive Conservative Party and a former member of the Canadian Cancer Society and the Board of Directors at Shoreham Village Home for Special Care, Chester. Rod is survived by daughter, Wendy, Chester. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Sara "Ted" Cann; daughter, Beverley. No visitation by request. Born August 24, 1926, in Sydney, Cape Breton, he was a son of the late William and Emmelia (White) Andrews and stepson of the late William McAlpine. He served in the Merchant Navy from 1939-1945. He was later employed at Bowater Mersey in the construction department for 24 years, retiring on February 1, 1989. He is survived by his wife, Madelyn; son, Thomas (Linda), Stroud, Ontario; daughters, Cheryl (Harry) Kennickell, Liverpool; Catherine (Adrian) Arcieri, Toronto; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; step-sister, Delores Cooke, Saint John. Born in Liverpool, she was a daughter of the late Freeman and Lottie M. (Rafuse) Wilson. She was employed with Seldon's Pharmacy, Liverpool, for a number of years, retiring in 1969 due to ill health. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter 34, Liverpool. She is survived by daughters, Charlotte (Mrs. Mike Horwich), Halifax; Patricia Morrow, New Germany; Dianne (Mrs. Brendon Ford), Halifax; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by her husband, Ronald "Sinclair"; sister, Martha; brothers, Otto, Eugene, and James in infancy. Mr. Zwicker had served for some 25 years in the Canadian Armed Forces, and at the time of his death was employed as a civil servant at HMCS Dockyard, Halifax. He was president of the Nova Scotia Rifles Association. Richard Malone 2000 Halifax Chronicle Herald Published: Monday, April 17, 2000. >From the collection of Gwen Christie Richard "Little Hib"Malone, 43, Liverpool, died suddenly Friday, April 14, 2000, in Queens General Hospital, Liverpool. Born in Liverpool, he was the loving son of Hibbert and Josie (Fisher) Malone, Liverpool. He was an employee of Mersey Seafoods Limited of Liverpool, having worked there for over 25 years. He was an avid Toronto Maple Leafs fan and loved to play hockey himself. He was goaltender for the "Greens," a local hockey team. He was referred to as the goalie "with the one eye" as he lost his left eye to an accident many years before. Many who played against him were amazed at how well he was able to compensate for his loss. He loved to hunt and spend time at his cabin as well as travel the woods on his ATV. He was an avid handliner fisherman and owned his own boat. He will be sadly missed and will be in our hearts forever. Surviving besides his parents are his loving sisters, Janice and her husband Rocky Lowe and Karen, Liverpool. He was a wonderful uncle to his nieces, Nicole, Holly, and Natalie; and nephews, Walter and Daniel, all of Liverpool. He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Lovett and Evelyn (Whynot) Malone; and his maternal grandparents, Pearle Tenny and Laura (Roy) Fisher; his sister, Laura Lee; and brother, Calvin. Born in Thorburn, she was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William A. MacDonald, but had lived all her married life in Stellarton. Prior to her marriage she had been employed at both Goodman's and David's in New Glasgow. Mrs. Wright was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Stellarton, and had been active in all the women's organizations of the church. She had held the office of corresponding secretary of the Local Council of Women; was a vice-president of the Provincial Council of Women, and had been a keen worker for the improvement plan of the MacLellan Mountain Cemetery. She is survived by her husband; two brothers, Henry MacDonald of Thorburn, and Alexander MacDonald in Sussex; three sisters, Margaret (Mrs. C. Pearmain), San Francisco, Calif.; Hazel (Mrs. J. Oggy), Toronto; and Violet (Mrs. Douglas Wood), Moncton. The remains are resting at the home of her brother Henry in Thorburn, and the funeral arrangements will be announced later.
