Max L. Veinot 1980 Bridgewater Bulletin The death of Max L. Veinot occurred at the D.M. Hospital early Sunday morning, July 27th., 1980. He was born at Hemford April 16, 1914, son of the late Fred and Laura Veinot. Although in failing health for a number of years, his death came as a shock to his many relatives and friends. He suffered much pain but always had a kind word and ready smile for those around him. He will be sadly missed as a kind and loving husband and father. He leaves to mourn his loss, his wife, Cavell (Lohnes) Veinot; three daughters, Shirley (Mrs. Clifford Mosher), Elaine (Mrs. Lester Wile), Hemford; Patricia (Mrs. Walter Ganong), Calgary; and one son, Vincent, Hemford; one sister, Marion (Mrs. Eldon Lohnes), Lunenburg; one brother, Lauren, Hemford. He also had seventeen grandchildren and two great-grandchidlren. He was predeceased by two sisters, Lulu and Phylis. The largely attended funeral was held on Tuesday, July 29, 1980 at 2 p.m. from the Union Church at Hemford, with Rev. Ross Hamilton officiating. Mrs. Connie Wile was organist. Hymns sung were "The Old Rugged Cross," a favourite of the deceased and "Nearer, My God, to Thee." Pallbearers were all friends of the deceased: Arnold Wile, Royden Veinot, Ernest Colp, Basil Wagner, Bernard Wile, and Wendell Crouse. Interment took place in the Hemford Cemetery.
OBIT # 8219 - UNKNOWN PAPER - 18 DEC 1960 Stellarton- There passed away suddenly Sunday evening, Mrs. James Ash, of Big Tracadie. Mrs. Ash, the former Ethel Gertrude Mintis, was visiting her mother on Kirk Ave., and had gone to a nearby store. She suffered a heart seizure on the way back to her mother's home, and was found dead about 6:30 on the pathway. Mrs. Ash was well and favorably known here. Born in New Glasgow in 1901, she was a daughter of Mrs. William ((Margaret) Mintis, and the late Mr. Mintis. Later when the family moved to Stellarton, she attended Stellarton Schools. She attended as a member the Second Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband, her mother, and two brothers, Orie in New Glasgow and Russell in Stellarton. The remains are resting at the home of her mother, Kirk Ave., and the funeral will be held at Second Baptist Church on Wednesday at 2:30, with Rev. Donald Thomas officiating. Interment will be in Brookside Cemetery.

She was the former Edith Matthews, and was born in Stellarton, a daughter of the late William and Caroline Matthews. She was in her 93rd year and was the last surviving member of her parents' family. Mrs. Ackles was a member of the First United Baptist Church, New Glasgow, and is survived by a son, Ralph, Stellarton, two grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband 16 years ago and by a daughter Ethel. The remains will rest at her home on Stellar Street and the funeral will be held from there on Thursday with Rev. Theo Gibson officiating. Interment will be in Brookside Cemetery. No flowers by request.

Glenwood Solomon Oickle 1993 Bridgewater Bulletin The community of Upper Branch was saddened by the death of Glenwood Solomon Oickle, on August 18, 1993, at the South Shore Regional Hospital. Born at Upper Branch, April 24, 1916, he was the youngest son of the late Solomon and Della (Snyder) Oickle. He lived most of his life in Upper Branch, always ready to lend a helping hand to friends, neighbours, or strangers. He had an interest in his community, serving as trustee of the Lone Pine Cemetery for a number of years until he became ill. The road was long and filled with pain but he never gave up. May he rest in the sunshine of God's love and peace. He is survived by wife, Kathleen (Beck) Oickle; two daughters, Madelene Gaetz and Joan Silver, both of Upper Branch; two brothers, William, Lunenburg and Percy, New Germany; two grandsons, Sheldon Gaetz, Vancouver; and Timothy Gaetz, Golden. Predeceased family members are sister, Laurena; brothers, Llewellyn, Enos Doran, and Lester. Funeral service was held on August 21, 1993, at Corkum's Funeral Home, Pastor Jens Kjaer officiating. Mr. Bell was born at Amherst, N.S., son of Mr. Harry C. Bell and the late Edna (Mahoney) Bell. He was educated in Dartmouth, N.S. and the Cumberland County Academy in Amherst. He worked as an electrician at the Greenwood Air Base. He was a member of the Baptist Church and the Canadian Legion. In 1940 Mr. Bell served with the Carlton York Regt. and later in 1941 was transferred to the North Nova Scotia Highlanders. He was a prisoner of war from 1943 to 1945. Mr. Bell is survived by his father, Mr. Harry Bell, Brampton, Ont.; his wife Ada, three sons, Allison 16, Wayne 14 and Blaine 13. Two brothers, Lawrence Bell, Toronto, Ont.; Allison Bell, Dartmouth; two sisters, Margaret Murphy, Kingston, Ont., and Mrs. Joyce McGill of Brampton, Ont. Surviving besides his parents, are his wife, the former Catherine Whynot and one son, LeRoy; also maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Martin Whynot, North River; paternal grandfather, Ralph Burgoyne, Springfield; three brothers, Roland and Ross, Cherryfield; Leonard, Wileville; four sisters, Linda, Mrs. Wayne Naugler, Springfield; Christine, Mrs. David Whynot and Susan, Mrs. Arnold Daniels, both of Meisner's Section; and Kimberley, at home. Foster Rudland Russell 1958 Bridgewater Bulletin One of East Dalhousie's best known citizens, Foster R. Russell, 49 years, died suddenly on Tuesday morning, March 11th. He was a devoted husband and father as well as a good neighbour and friend. Surviving are his wife; their only child, Peter; also Mrs. Russell's aged mother, Mrs. Edward Long, who lives with them; a brother, Murray Russell, New Ross; three sisters, Louie (Mrs. Arthur Duncanson), of Falmouth; Marion (Mrs. Frank Moore), Kentville; and Mrs. A.L. Gaul of Hinsdale, New Hampshire. Foster Russell was born at New Russell and was a son of the late Wallace Russell of that place. Funeral services were Friday in St. Brigid's Church, Upper East Dalhousie, with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. Nolan and Rev. Davis officiated. Pall bearers were Ronald Smith, Fred and Maurice Oickle, Charles and Quentin Kaulback, and Douglas Lonergan.

Surviving are a son, Daniel and a daugher, Margaret, both of Pictou; two sisters, Dorothy (Mrs William Costello); Helen (Mrs. Edward Buckler), both of Hamilton, Ont.; and three brothers, Welsford, Oshawa; John and Roy, both of Pictou. The remains will rest at the McLaren Funeral Home after 7 o'clock Monday from where the funeral will be held Tuesday at 2 o'clock. Interment will be in St. James Cemetery. The body was at the home of her brother in Waldegrave. Funeral service was held Friday in Sedgwick Presbyterian Church Tatamagouche Rev. Donald MacLEOD officiating. Burial was in the Lockerby Cemetery Tatamagouche.
