Born on Tancook Island, he was a son of the late Titus and Emma (Young) Langille. He was a farmer and fisherman and retired from the Department of Transportation and Public Works after many years of service as a crew member aboard the Tancook Island ferry. He was the oldest living male member of the Tancook United Baptist Church and the last surviving member of his immediate family. He is survived by son, LeRoy, Chester Basin. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Inez Oline Fleet; son Thomas in infancy; brothers, Angus, Winton, Hazlett "Harry," sisters, Elva, Essie, Vanava, Elitha, Olive, Elmira. Visitation 2:30-4, 7-9 p.m. today in Davis Funeral Home, Chester. Funeral 2 p.m. Tuesday in Tancook Island Baptist Church, Pastor Phillip Williams officiating. Burial in the church cemetery. Mrs. Titus Wagner 1948 Halifax Chronicle Herald New Germany, January 18- Following many years of illness, the death of Mrs. Titus Wagner occurred at her home in Union Square Sunday, January 16. Mrs. Wagner had suffered a stroke of paralysis and was an invalid for the past fourteen years. Mrs. Wagner was formerly Janetta MacKay, daughtr rof William and Alberdena Fancy MacKay and was born at Upper Northfield 75 years ago. Surviving are three daughters and two sons, Lila (Mrs. Dennis Raimey), Barss Corner; Lena (Mrs. Laurin Rhodenizer), Livermore Falls, Maine; Bessie (Mrs. Russell Veinot), Union Square; Lloyd, Livermore Falls; and Loris, Union Square. Two sisters and two brothers also survive. They are Sadie (Mrs. William Silver), Bridgewater; Hattie (Mrs. Ozem Wagner), Livermore Falls; Harvey, Rhode Island; and Charlie, Maine. Her husband predeceased her some years ago. Rev. S.G. MacQueen of the United Church will conduct the funeral services tomorrow at the home. Burial will be in Union Square Cemetery.

    3. Titus Wagner 1944 Bridgewater Bulletin In the passing of Titus Wagner, Union Square has lost one of its oldest and most highly respected citizens, after an illness of very brief duration. The deceased was born at Upper Northfield 76 years ago, the eldest son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Wagner. About 47 years ago, he married Jeanetta MacKay of Upper Northfield, after which they came to Union Square and built the comfortable home which they have occupied since that time. Mr. Wagner was a very active man and always ready and willing to do his part in any worthy undertaking. For approximately the past five years he patiently and tenderly cared for his invalid wife, by whom he is survived. The sympathy of the entire community is extended to the bereaved ones. He was a devoted member of the United Church at Barss Corners and was a regular attendant as long as it was possible for him to be. He is survived by his widow; two sons, Lloyd, Livermore Falls, Maine; and Loris, at home; three daughters, Lila (Mrs. Dennis Ramey), Barss Corners; Lena (Mrs. Lauren Rhodenizer), Livermore Falls; Bessie (Mrs. Russel Veinot), Union Square; also twenty grandchildren and one great-grandchild. The surviving brothers and sisters are: Wallace, Pine Grove; Benjamin, Worcester; Ozem, Livermore Falls; and Mrs. Bessie Oickle, Lower Northfield. The funeral service, which was held at his late home, was conducted by his pastor, Rev. W.H. Palmer, who spoke comforting words from Psalm 56:4, "In God I have put my trust; I will not fear." Hymns sung were "What A Friend We Have in Jesus," "Blest Be the Tie that Binds," and "Abide With Me." Interment was made at Union Square Cemetery. The pall-bearers were Angus, Arthur, Locke, and Alvah MacKay. The beautiful floral offerings and cards bore mute testimony to the esteem in which the late Mr. Wagner was held.

She was a life-long resident of this district and leaves to mourn a husband and two daughters, Laura (Mrs Blair Miller) in the United States and Alice (Mrs Charles Miller) Berry Hill, Upper Stewiacke. Funeral services were held from the United Church on Wednesday, January 22 and were conducted by Rev. Milton Fraser of Brookfield who spoke briefly from the twenty-third Psalm. Pallbearers were Frank B.Cox, Gordon Miller, Ross Johnson, and Wilfred Pearson. Interment was in Riverside Cemetery.

Born in Earltown, he was the son of the late James and Margaret (HOLMES) GRAHAM. He was a retired farmer and assistant superintendent of the Wide Horizons Home. He was an elder and clerk of session at Burris Memorial Presbyterian Church, West Brook, and a member of the church choir for over 40 years. He is survived by his wife, the former Josie MacINTOSH; six daughters, Jean (Mrs. Lloyd STAPLES), Truro; Eileen (Mrs. Douglas HAMILTON), Truro; Vivian (Mrs. Royce MacKAY), Sunderland, Ont.; Pearl (Mrs. Derek PIERS), Halifax; Elizabeth (Mrs. Donald MORRISON), Winnipeg; and Mrs. Margaret WALLACE, Truro; two sons, Lloyd, Truro; and Carl, Baden-Baden, Germany, one sister, Mrs. Cassie NELSON, Calgary; 16 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. He was predeceased by his parents, one son, six sisters, and four brothers. The body is at the Kennedy Memorial Residence. Funeral services will be held from Burris Presbyterian Church, West Branch, at a date to be announced, Rev. Clair MacLEOD officiating. Burial will be in West Branch cemetery. She was the youngest daughter of the late William LeRoy and Carrie (Zwicker) Joudrey, Mahone Bay. She was a member of St. James Anglican Church, Mahone bay, where she belonged to the Altar Guild for many years , was a long-time president of the A.C.W. and served as president of the Mahone Bay Branch of the Fishermen's Memorial Hospital Ladies Auxiliary for a number of years. She graduated from Mahone Bay High School, Kings University, and Dalhousie University. She began her teaching in Windsor Junction and Bedford but most of her career was on the staff of Halifax City Schools, retiring in 1973. She studied oil painting under William DeGarthe and was also involved in tole painting. She retired from these activities due to ill health. She is survived by sister, Lucille Anderssen, Liverpool; niece, Karen Anderssen Cwynar, Ottawa; nephews, Michael Anderssen, Oakland; Jack Buntain, Kentville; Dr. William Buntain, Kansas. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by sister, Frances Buntain, Kentville. Cremation has taken place. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Monday, February 10, in St. James Anglican Church, Mahone Bay, Rev. Robert Brush officiating. Murray Wagner 1935 Bridgewater Bulletin The "Angel of Death" visited the community of Union Square on Sunday, June 2nd., at 11 o'clock, A.M., and claimed little Murray, grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Titus Wagner as its victim. He appeared to be in good health until a few weeks ago when he was taken to the D.M. Hospital. There his condition was found to be more serious than anticipated. Blood transfusions were given but for the disease,sarcoma, there was no cure. He was later removed to his home here where for three weeks he was tenderly cared for by his loving home folks. He was a bright and lovable lad. Though slightly more than two years old he knew all the letters of the alphabet. The family has the sympathy of the entire community. The funeral which was held on Monday, June 3rd., was largely attended. The hymns, "Jesus, Lover of My Soul," "What A Friend we Have in Jesus," "Safe in the Arms of Jesus" were sung at the house and "Shall We Gather at the River" at the Union Square Cemetery, where interment took place. Service was conducted by Rev. Mr. McRae who spoke very comfortingly to the bereaved family. The floral offerings were many and beautiful showing the esteem in which litte Murray was held by the many friends he acquired during his short life.

She was the eldest daughter of Marcel and Margie Emino of Simpson's Corner. She is survived by husband, Richard "Rick"; sons, Jon (Wendy), Chris (Claire); grandsons, Geoff and Chris; brother, Jerry (Linda) Emino; sisters, Joy (Tommy) Kaulback; Jill (Fred) Neville and Jolene; many nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles. Cremation has taken place in Chilliwack. Memorial service was held October 8 in Henderson's Funeral Home, Chilliwack. She will be greatly missed by all those who loved her so dearly and especially by brother, Jerry and sister, Joy. "Be free now, Jackie."

Born in Simpson's Corner, he was the son of the late Hamilton and Lois (Zwicker) Deamond. Basil was a veteran of the Second World War and a member of the Royal Canadian Legion. He is survived by his sisters, Edith MacDonald, New Brunswick; Grace Wile, New Germany; and Margaret Leary, Simpson's Corner. He was predeceased by his brother, Guy and sisters, Ada Zinck and Beatrice Veinot. Visitation will be held 7-9 p.m. in Sweeny's Funeral Home, New Germany, with a public Legion tribute service being held at 7 p.m. and from where the funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Rev. Catherine Robar officiating. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Simpson's Corner. Family flowers only. Helen Martha Baker 1966 Bridgewater Bulletin Helen Martha Baker, 3562 Persey Street, Halifax, died suddenly at the Halifax Infirmary, May 10th, 1966, having enjoyed good health until a few days before her death. She was the wife of Vernon R. Baker who predeceased her by one day. Her remains were brought to Liverpool for burial. Born April 10th, 1915, at Simpson's Corner, she was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Reginald Hyson of that community. She was a member of the English Church and an Executive Member of the Ladies Auxiliary, Royal Canadian Legion, Vimy Branch No. 27, Halifax. A special Legion service was held at Chandlers' Funeral Home prior to the church service, attended and conducted by a large number of Legion members from Halifax, evidence of the high esteem for which she was held. Surviving are her parents; a daughter, Roxie (Mrs. Leslie Levy) and a son, Arnold and six grandchildren, all of Mersey Point. She is also survived by four sisters, Iona (Mrs. Harry Veinot), New Germany; Alice (Mrs. Ernest Woodworth), Hazel (Mrs. Doran Snyder), both of Simpson's Corner; and Muriel (Mrs. Milton Snyder), who resides at Hemford; and Rene (Mrs. Lemert Knox) of Wentzell's Lake. The joint funeral service for her and her husband was held from the Church of England, Liverpool, with Rev. E.L. Parsons officiating. Interment was at the Church of England Cemetery, Liverpool.

In the Knights of Columbus, he was a past Grand Knight of Council 6417,Bridgewater; former District Deputy and a Fourth Degree member of the Halifax Assembly. He was instrumental in the formation of the Knights of Columbus Sigogne Council 6348 in Comeauville, Digby County. He is survived by his wife, Maria (denHaan); daughter, Josette (Mrs. Donald Comeau), Grosses Cocques; sons, Mark (Sheila), Belleville, Ontario; Andre (Marianne), Hebb's Cross; Paul (Lesley), Chelsea; Jean-Louis (Rachel), Windsor; grandchildren, Linette, Daniel, Denis, Kristine, Amanda, Kyle, Curtis, Justin, Nicholas, and Jessica; sisters, Therese (Mrs. Bernardin Comeau), Saulnierville; Marie (Mrs. John Csoknya), Saulnierville; brother, Alfred (Josette), Iroquois Falls, Ontario; many nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by brothers, Augustin, Harry, also Bernard and sister Annette in infancy. Visitation for family only 2-4 p.m. today, open visitation and prayers 7-9 p.m. today both in Sweeny's Funeral Home, Bridgewater. Memorial mass 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Bridgewater Father Michael Walsh officiating. Interment at a a later date. Donations to the Knights of Columbus Charitable Foundation, Red Cross Society or a charity of choice.

    3. Mrs. Sarah Awalt 1935 Bridgewater Bulletin Bridgewater, August 21,- The death of Mrs. Sarah Awalt, widow of W.E. Awalt, occurred early this morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Norman Rafuse. She was the daughter of Francis and Lucy Fancy and was born in 1863, at Upper Northfield. For the past number of years she has been living with her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Norman Rafuse. She was a member of the Women's Institute. Her circle of friends was wide, her husband being the former proprietor of the Fairview Hotel and she will be sorely missed by all her many friends and relatives. The funeral services will be Friday afternoon at 2:30, from the house of Mr. and Mrs. Norman Rafuse.

OBIT # 9445 - UNKNOWN PAPER - 23 January 1947 Stellarton, January 23 - The death of Mrs Ethel Fraser occurred on Wednesday at her home on Stellar Street following a lengthy illness which she bore cheerfully and patiently. The deceased, the former Ethel Faulkner, was born in Truro, the daughter of Robert Sedgewick Faulkner and Catherine MacLellan Faulkner, both deceased. She was well-known in Stellarton, where she spent the greater part of her life. Many who visited her to to cheer her came away with more cheer than they were able to impart. She is survived by her husband, Jack J. Fraser, former merchant, and two sons, Rev. Calder Fraser of Upper Stewiacke and and Wilbur, medical student at McGill University, who saw service during the war as Captain Fraser.. Two brothers also survive, Murdock Faulkner of Halifax, and Wilfred Faulkner with the British Transport, New York City. The funeral will be held from her late residence on Friday afternoon with a service to be held in Sharon-St.John United Church at 2:30pm.
