By 1838 Census, only Francis, Haines, and John McConnell are listed in Digby with their respective families. Benjamin was granted 825 acres in the Hatfield Grant of 1801. They had 12 children, the eleventh of which was Matthew Hains MCCONNELL, b 8 Jun 1792 in Weymouth, Digby, NS, d Feb 1856 in Watervliet, Berrien, MI. He married Gertrude HANKINSON in 1814 probably in Weymouth, NS. They had 11 children, the eleventh of which was John MCCONNELL, b Mar 1837 in Weymouth, Digby, NS, d 29 May 1921 in Meauwataka, Wexford, MI. He married Sophronia BEAL in 1860 in Watervliet, Berrien, MI. They had 4 children. Reuben HANKINSON, b 1758 probably in NJ, d 29 May 1833 in Weymouth, Digby, NS (Sissiboo). He married Gertrude LeROY in 1785 probably in Weymouth, NS. She died in 1856 in Malahide Twp. Elgin Co., Ontario. They had 14 children, the sixth of which was Gertrude HANKINSON, b 23 Dec 1794 in Weymouth, Digby, NS. She died 17 Mar 1875 in Deerfield, Van Buren, MI and is buried at Watervliet, Berrien, MI.
