Her mother was Jane Spavold, daughter of William and Philena of Hilltown. It appears that Jane died shortly after giving birth to Mary Belle, and Jane's brother John registered Mary Belle's birth. Mary Belle was raised, it appears, by her aunt, Susan (Spavold) Barr. Mary Belle eventually married a Manzer (my grandmother's father), and after his death, became a Thibault. There appears to be very little information about Jane and Mary Belle's father. Any information anyone may have would be greatly appreciated - this has become somewhat of an obsession!
