    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/SOC.2ACE/892 Message Board Post: Hi Folks, Looking for some clarification on the Shippy Lent(s) of Freeport : -- Melissa Thurber (b. ca 1839), daughter of Benjamin N. Thurber and Lucretia Lent, married in 1859, at Digby, JAMES S. LENT, according to the birth records of children. Children of this family were -- (1) Charles (b. ca 1863) (2) Jesse Goodwin Lent (b. 3 Aug 1869), (3) and (4) Lena Louella and Lizzie Laleah ( twins b. 3 April 1873). Also, saw somewhere, another (possible) child - Byron Shippy Lent (b. 11 Dec 1876) - but no proof yet. The 1871 Census lists two " Shippy" Lents --(1)-- Shippy Lent, age 35, Ship Captain, Melissa, wife, age 32, and children - Charles and Jesse (as above). (2)-- Shippy Lent, age 32, Storekeeper, Euphemia(Euphemia Agusto Moore md.Shippy Lent, on 3 Dec 1857 - J.T.), wife, age 31, and children - Emma (12), George (10), Frank ( 8), Delisle ( 4 ), and living with them , Polly, widow, age 73 ( the widow of Shippy Lent, Sr.? - his 2nd wife's name was Mary.). Another source says that Melissa Thurber md. John S. Lent? In the cemetery (Hilltop) at Freeport -- in the Lent plot are : Shippy S. Lent - d. 1851 ( this would be Shippy Lent Sr., I believe), also John S. Lent - d. 1877 and his daughter, Annie M. - d.1871, also Sarah L., daughter of Shippy and Melissa - d. 1868. Was Melissa's husband John S. Lent or James S. Lent ? Did two, by the name of Shippy Lent, live in the same village at the same time ? Was Melissa's husband from the Freeport Lent families, or did he come from Weymouth or elsewhere ? Any help, thoughts, opinions, greatly appreciated. Thanks, John
