    1. Benjamin Winchester Bryant - died at sea
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Bryant, Rankin(e), Winchester, Potter, Smith, etc. Classification: Death Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/SOC.2ACE/1304 Message Board Post: I have tried to correct this with "Lost at Sea" with no success. Benjamin Winchester Bryant b. 22 Dec 1818 at Clements, Annapolis Co., Nova Scotia d.1844 on the "Tadmour" of a fever. His parents were James Rankin Bryant & Ann (nee Winchester) Bryant. Benjamin's father, Capt. James Rankin Bryant, died at sea in Dec 1831 from the "Caroline." Many vessels sailed from Bear River and Digby for Saint John on that clear day, and all were wrecked in a storm that was termed 'the worst in years." Of the passengers and crews on the vessels, none survived. Of the vessels that were destroyed that day, the only account is of the "Caroline" from Digby. Benjamin's widowed mother, Ann (nee Winchester) Bryant, married 2nd Jacob Roop and they are buried in Thomas Cemetery at Smith's Cove, Digby Co., Nova Scotia. No children as far as I know.
