    1. The fun of transcribing the 1911 census records!

    3. To all:- I have been testing my knowledge of calligraphy and poor handwriting by transcribing 1911 census records in Queens and Shelburne Counties, plus some in both Yarmouth and Digby Counties. [I am certain there were handwriting tests, the ones who did not pass became the enumerators!] We do know that Lunenburg County has 100.01%, Yukon has 100.00 % so we hope to make the 100% scoreboard very shortly with Queens and Shelburne Counties. I have been fortunate as I have a working partner who hails from Texas -- Jenny can read what I cannot - many thanks! This evening I was able to go back one generation in the Hardy family from Rockland, this adds to my McIntosh family. Reading the transcribed records, one can easily find the maiden name of the wife -- either her father or mother might be living with the family. I know there are researchers in Queens and Shelburne Counties and you are invited to help finish this group of pages. Someone asked WHY the two counties were together -- originally it was all Queens County but was split following arrival of Loyalists. When searching on the Queens and Shelburne pages, Port Mouton West should be Port Joli -- I found my grandparents, mother and siblings there after they arrived from Bucksport, Maine. Port Mouton should be just plain Port Mouton to include the three areas. Another perplexing place is MILL -- Mill Village, Charleston and Danesville. To top it off, I even found more Hupman and Huskins families!! Come on -- join the fun!! Suggested "implement" -- magnifying glass! Questions? I will answer any -- if know know others who can do so.
