My great-great-grandfather was Charles Wellington Rice who was born in Lubec, ME, around 1850. He seems to have been the youngest of 10 children of Daniel and Lucy (McDaniel) Rice of Lubec. But, Daniel's father was born right around 1800 in either Digby, NS, or Lubec, ME, as that is the year several RICE families moved .. over the water. The history of these families is that ... four RICE cousins migrated from Marlborough, MA, to Nova Scotia .. during the second half of the 1700's. Many of them settled in Digby, NS. A member of the Rice Family Association created a web site which might be very helpful to you. I think if you put "Four Nova Scotia Families" into a search, you will find this web site. If you can't locate it, let me know, and I will get the URL for you. I think (from memory) we are descended from Ashbel Rice .. and most of the early families were descended from the patriarch ...
