James Winchester one of Smith's Cove oldest residents passed peacefully away on Friday morning last at the age of of eighty-eight.He followed the sea for fifty-seven years beginning at age fourteen trading with Saint John, Boston & West Indies and made ninety-nine trips across the bay in one schooner .He had a large circle of friends and was respected by all who knew him.The Funeral service was well attended and held Sunday afternoon in the Baptist Church of which he was a member and conducted by Rev. Mr. McNintch. Interment was in Thomas Cemetery . There were many beautiful floral tribues. He leavea a widow and a son Abner who is residing in Everett MA .
