Hi Ray , It was a long shot, but I`m looking at a picture taken in the summer of 1948 as best that I can recall. Left to right are : Francis (Hubbard) Hersey, her husband , Wall Hersey; Elizabeth Ann (Hubbard) Golding , (she was Francis` sister and my Grandmother);Margaret Mary (Golding) Brooks (she was Elizabeth`s daughter and my mother);Evangeline Mary (Hubbard) Robichaud ( She was sister of Francis and Elizabeth and is still living at age 90); Front row" Mande Hubbard (my Great Grandfather), Robert Brooks ( me at age 10) and Olive Hubbard. The occassion I think was the 60th wedding anniversary of Mande and Olive Hubbard. This group together with my Father who took the pictures gathered a the home of Wallace and Francis adjacent to the Catholic Church in Digby . I remembered the location because my Father took me bowling for the first time at the alleys located in the Church hall basement . Sometime in the late 70`s or early 80`s I was in Digby and found the house ca! lled there and visited with Francis daughter, Mary Edith Hayden. At that time I took a picture of the house. She passed away in 1998. That about all I know about Wall Hersey except that I vaguely recall he worked around the Digby wharf for a fish company I believe. I do have in my file all the children of Olive and Mande Hubbard but nothing as yet on there descendants .Evangeline (Eva) Robichaud`s daughter and family live a few blocks away from me in Dartmoutyh N.S. and she has been gathering a bit of info from her mother .If you check a map of Nova Scotia you will see that St. Mary`s Bay is minutes away from Digby.I think they chose Digby as a central meeting place because Evangeline lived in Yarmouth , and Elizabeth and my family were in Saint John , N.B. just a boat ride away. ( a very seasick 10 year old at the time) Other members of the Hubbard family at that time lived in McAdam, N.B. Black`s Harbour, N.B. Yarmouth, N.S. and some in Glouscester , Mass. (I think) ! As far as I know this was the only time my Grandmother actually saw her parents since she left Yarmouth for Saint John in 1915 and to my knowledge she never saw them again. Hope this is of some use to you . I would like to have a bit more on the Hersey connection to add to the "Tree" Best regards Bob Brooks---- Original Message ----- From: Ray C To: [email protected] Sent: Monday, October 01, 2001 9:33 PM Subject: Family query Bob, If Digby is close to Saint Mary's Bay, it might be the connection I have been researching! Can you give any more information? Thanks for the prompt response. [email protected]
