    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Rice, McDaniel, Knight Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/SOC.2ACE/937 Message Board Post: Hello, I am trying to determine the correct father .. of my ancestor, Daniel V. RICE. He was reportedly born in Digby, NS, in 1804. According to some researchers, he was either the youngest son of Ashabel and Percissa RICE, or he was the only son of Ashabel's oldest son ... Rufus RICE. About a year ago, I thought I read that there were two Daniel Rice's born, and I'm wondering if that has caused the confusion. I would also ..very much.. like to know how many RICE families lived in Digby .. during the early years. If it is not too much trouble, I'd like to ask if someone could tell me .. how many RICE births .. happened in the Town of Digby.. from 1783 to 1820. (I am aware that three RICE cousins migrated from Marlborough, MA, to Lunenberg County just before 1860. But, Ashabel Rice migrated from Marlborough, MA, to Digby County just around 1782. I would like to know if other Rice families traveled with them.) When Lubec, ME, annexed off of Eastport, ME, in 1811, it seems that several of the RICE families from Digby, NS, moved over there. And, that is where my ancestor, Daniel Rice, and his wife, Lucy (McDaniel) Rice, lived and had their 9 or 10 children. Their youngest was Charles Wellington Rice, born in Lubec in 1850, and he became my great-great-grandfather. (writing from Lowell, MA)
