This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Bent, Phillips, Milbury, Newcombe, Walker Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/SOC.2ACE/2603 Message Board Post: My g,g,grandfather was Thomas Phillips, b. 1834 in Liverpool, son of Jesse Phillips and Mary Bent.I am trying to clarify the identity of Mary Bent, who apparently married twice. Mary Bent, b. 1802, in Paradise, Annapolis Co., NS., the dau. of Silas Bent, b. c. 1773\1778 in NS, d. 1849 Granville, NS, and Mary Newcombe, b. 1779 in NS, d in Somerset, Kings Co., NS , who m. Jan 1831 Samuel Milbury, b. 1804, and according to the Wilmot Township Records (NS) had four children between Oct 1831 and Feb 1837. In the Bent genealogy Silas Bent and Mary Newcombe had a dau. Mary who married Isaac (Jesse) Phillips, b. 1791, of Liverpool, (also, I have found on the NS Archives & Records Management site a marriage bond betw Jesse Phillips and Mary Bent, 02 May 1818, in Liverpool, Queens Co., NS) and had children James, Thomas b. 1834 (m. Sarah Lovitt Walker, b. 1828 in Yarmouth, NS) and Mary Eliza b. 1831 who m. Eldrid Day. Clearly, the same Mary Bent could not have been married to Samuel Milbury and Jesse Phillips. I have found information on a Silas Bent and wife Mary in the Liverpool and Bridgewater Reg of Deeds: 1817, Silas Bent et ux, of Liverpool, Blacksmith, deeded lands to John Kirk, 1823, Silas Bent et ux, of Pleasant River, Lunenburg Co., deeded lands to James McLannan, 1823, Silas Bent et ux, of New Dublin, Lunenburg Co., deeded lands to George Porter. Could there have been two Silas Bents, each with a wife named Mary, and a dau. Mary?
