Hi, Muriel, I had a look at page 20 and boy, that was a hard one at the end of the page. I do have the following recommendations for the following entries on the page: line 4 = Wilson, Mabel line 8 = Cossaboom, Louise line 14 = Webber, Max line 18 = Cr?ss (surname) line 23 = Caines, Mason lines 31 through 39 = the surname ends in "bell" All the best of the season to you. Thanks so much for all your hard work donated to genealogy. To all -- At present, the 1911 census records are NOT a political item, but very definitely an integral part of our genealogical search. I have been using Automated Genealogy which only includes the first page -- microfiche would have both pages. Last evening, while transcribing Barrington Passage records in Shelburne County, I came across the first HOME GIRL, Mary Crowell in Family No. 101, age 59. This means if she is one of the Home Children, she would have been born 1852. http://automatedgenealogy.com/census11/Test9.jsp?id=43155 [Do not worry -- I will be finishing the 50 lines -- I know the surnames] There have been many others, not listed as HOME Girl or Boy, but in a family listing are enumerated at the end of the family grouping. The family may have small children -- then we find older teens, all listed generally as Domestic. Very possibly we should be keeping the site and page number, also names of possible Home Children. There were about 100,000 sent over from Great Britain from about 1860 to 1930 -- at present there has only been 25% or more identified. Muriel M. I would love to have a dollar for every baby boy born in the mid 1800's who was given the middle name Wellington. Do an online search on the Duke of Wellington and the Battle of Waterloo and you will see why. Often a child will be named after a famous figure and then it will be carried through for a couple of generations but it usually has more to do with the time period the child was born in than any family history. Dear Listers, I am researching William Thomas of Digby, NS. This man was a Loyalist who came to Digby in 1784, in themuster roll of disbanded Officers, discharged and disbanded soldiers and Loyalists mustered at Digby William shows in Timpany's Company as Capt. William Thomas, with a household containing 1 adult male, 1 adult female, 2 children under 10 and 3 servants. William was born in Pennsylvania to Richard and Elizabeth Walton Thomas. He was a Loyalist in Northampton County PA, and was sent to New York with the British after the battle of Yorktown, leaving from New York to Digby. William's wife Mary Rhodes Custer Thomas supposedly came to Digby with him. We have no information about this family beyond the above facts. I am looking for any information on them after their arrival in Digby, census records, marriage records, church records, names of the adult female, 2 children and servants stated to be with them who settled in Digby. This information is for a research project which will hopefully result in a followup of the lives of the Loyalists of Northampton County PA. All and any information on this man and/or sources we might research long distance would be most welcome, sources are also important on any info offered. We appreciate all the help we can get on this project, these are an interesting group of people to study. Sincerely, Judy McElderry -- No virus found in this outgoing message.
