from Malcolm Uhlman: "I'm looking for confirmation that Asa Daniels came to Annapolis from New England aboard the sloop Charming Molly in 1760 or 1761. She made two trips in 1760 and one trip in 1761." I found the following in the History of the County of Annapolis, by W Calnek, 1897 ( reprint 1980). This book I originally found in a couple of places when visiting up there--Public Archives of Halifax for one. Perhaps you already know of this but you didnt mention it. On Pg 151--In a list of passengers on the Molly in 1760 ( Calnek lists only one but comments on more) ,there is a Joseph Daniels who arrived somewhat later in the summer of 1760 but is not mentioned again. However ,on page 152, Asa Daniels is mentioned in the census returns for 1768 and 1770 and that he had in his family 3 males and 2 females and 1 swine --comments include that he had many descendants. Asa Daniels is mentioned again on pg 155 and on pg 497 , which says that he came on the Charming Molly but not the yr, and more on his family . If you need more info from the book , just let me know. Regarding spring, I have seen robins and have crocus out down here in MA !! Marlene Nortn ( MA)
Hello malcolm, I just checked page 300. There were two trips of the Charming Molly May 5th 1780 New England to the Annapolis Valley. No DANIELS there. but the second trip , 3 days later has: Joseph DANIELS , among other names. It also says those marked with an asterick stayed in Digby, and Joseph Daniels has an asterick. I believe the book County of Digby byWilson is now online, you could check the Digby Website. Hope this helps, Barb in BC ___________________ ----- Original Message ----- From: "Malcolm Uhlman" <muhlman@ns.sympatico.ca> To: <CAN-NS-DIGBY-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, March 06, 2006 4:33 PM Subject: [CAN-NS-DIGBY] Charming Molly > Hello all, > > I'm looking for confirmation that Asa Daniels came to Annapolis from New England aboard the sloop Charming Molly in 1760 or 1761.
