I'm speculating the same thing---that maybe he died young... was just hoping I could find something to confirm a death. William Christopher Porter was my grandfather. If you need further information regarding that branch of the Porter family, contact me. Perhaps I can help with further information.

Melissa Porter nee Weaver, was first cousin to William Coddington Weaver, who married my Grandfather's first cousin. Asa was born 27 May 1871, which would probably been after the census was taken. Although I have quite a bit of informaiton about Willie, I've found nothing further about Asa, and William's (Willie) obituary doesn't mention any brothers or sisters, either living or deceased. Perhaps Asa didn't live to grow up?? Mia

After several years of searching I believe I have finally found some info on my grandparents and a young aunt thanks to several people on the LUNEN-LINK list and a distant relative. I was always under the impression (family) that they lived in LaHave, Lunenburg County. Now I have discovered they lived in Digby County. If anyone on this list is interested in the following names please e-mail and I will be happy to give you what little I now know. Grandfather: James William Lohnes, born 12-21-1852, He retired as a sea captain in 1911 then moved his entire family to a 200 acre farm at Park's Creek. He died in 1914. (did not have very long to enjoy his farming) Grandmother: MaryEtta Schmeisser, born 1869, died 1914. They were married 5-13-1894 Youngest daughter Verna born July 1907 and died in 1915. They were all buried at a small church nearby. I believe they belonged to the Church of England. There have been many people via e-mail LUNEN-LINKS making requests of any information I might have had on Lohnes family. Maybe one of you will read this and want the above information. Many thanks to Paul Harmon and Bob Gillis for steering me to the correct county and sharing their information on my family. Vernice (Walker, Lohnes) Myers, Cody, Wyoming vwm@vcn.com

To all transcribers of Nova Scotia 1911 census records:- WE reached 100% -- but now we should turn our attention for a day or so to fix up any errors we have made. When one signs in, listed below the provinces, is MY PAGES You will find CORRECTIONS listed there, as I did. Also please note the large black numbers, e.g. 501/500 means 501 lines when there should be only 500. The black numbers disappear when the "extra" person is found and moved off the page. If the numbers are 475/500 -- means 25 pages to be transcribed. When these are done Nova Scotia could be slightly more than 100%. However, some pages DO have 51 or more lines -- due to the enumerator -- and we will let Automated Genealogy deal with that. Some districts and pages are:- Digby - Districts 3 and 15 Guysborough - Districts 3, 4, and 29 Hants - District 21 - Page 1 Kings - District 2 - Page 2 Let's get Nova Scotia ready for the proofreaders and if any readers know of errors I have made, please let me know, especially in Halifax.
