Hello Barbara - What Dunns do you descend from? My great aunt - grandmother's sister, married William Dunn from Clementsvale. I believe they had two children - the one I knew best was Maurice Dunn. He married my half sister Marion, and they had a number of children. There were other Dunn families in Bear River - Frank Dunn lived not too far from home. I grew up on the "flat" at the head of the tide. I talked to someone a long time ago about the Dunn family in Bear River - it may have been you. As for Rices - there were so many in Bear River it would be hard to straighten all the families out. I suspect Marion McCormick and her sister Alice Darres had most of them listed. I think their work is now in the Kentville museum. Quinn's first name was John, but he was commonly called Quinn. I will contact Hamilton Town hall to try and get a copy of their marriage certificate/record. I did not know that they had married right in Hamilton (MA). For some reason, I had assumed they married in Canada and then emigrated. But the other info you gave me says they did marry in Hamilton, which is great! Some vital records in Hamilton were destroyed by a fire in the library way back. But, hopefully, their record was at the town hall. Thanks for ALL that info! i appreciate it...mary

I got their birth dates from the 1900 census (not NEHGS). I got their places of birth from NEHGS. Upon closer examination I think it is probable that Quinn was Quinn the 4th son of: James & Sophronia (Christopher) MacGregor of Broad Cove/Lower Granville (on the 1871 census, I'm told). Maybe someone can find them and transcribe it, I couldn't find 1871 on the Annapolis website. The best way to prove Quinn's parentage would be the 1885 marriage record of Quinn & Alice at Hamilton, MA.

I had already had the Census info from Mass. from 1900 and 1910 and 1930, as well. Plus, I am the one who put all the info on them at the ancestry website family tree. however, i had nothing farther back than john Quinn. Also, the mass. census listed them as a MC Gregor, when it should've been MACGregor in one of the years (1900 or 1910) I forget which one. So, I left notes there about that mistake. however, I did not have the info on their exact birth dates (I( had the years only) which you gave me from "NewEngland Ancestors.org" Thank you very much!!! I have the complete ancestry of Mary Alice Purdy, but had nothing on John Quinn MacGregor. Thanks, again.
