I believe Archibald Hamilton and Mary Mcgreger were the parents of my Ruth Hamilton that married John Clark in 1822. There were nine children, three born in NS and the rest in Elgin County, Ontario. Middlesex before Elgin County If anyone has any information about Archibald and Mary I would appreciate it. Believe James Hamilton and Mary Rice were Archibald's parents. Louisville, KY
Forwarded for Gordon Watts <[email protected]> by Muriel M. Davidson <[email protected]> Co-Chair, Canada Census Committee --------------------------------------------- Greetings All. Files have just been sent for updating the MP and Senator Scoreboards on the Post 1901 Census Project Website. For those keeping their own score, Gold Ticks of support have been awarded to MPs Sheila Copps - ON, Geoff Regan - NS, Rodger Cuzner - NS, and Gar Knutson - ON. Senator Gerald Comeau - NS is awarded a Red X of opposition. Totals for the House of Commons currently stand at FOR 135 AGAINST 9 Non-Committal 64 No Response 93 Totals for the Senate are FOR 18 AGAINST 3 Non-Committal 11 No Response 64 Keep the letters going in, and please forward any replies you might receive, particularly if it will change the position shown on the Scoreboard. Happy Haunting. Gordon A. To all:- Great news for all interested in those supporting release of Post-1901 Canadian census records -- as of today, there will be ONE Nova Scotian Member of Parliament left who may not be following wishes of constituents. When the Member of Parliament Scoreboard is next updated, if not already in place, imagine bright GOLD ticks for Geoff Regan and Rodger Cuzner -- once Gordon Watts updates lists, it takes time for Global Genealogy to post the new data. http://www.globalgenealogy.com/Census/Score5.htm#NS The FENCE-SITTER is Robert Thibault <[email protected]> Treat him gently -- but be persistent!!! I am certain fellow Nova Scotians will change his West Nova Scotian decision. At present, the last available census is the 1901 -- Bills are in both Senate and House of Commons to hopefully obtain release of the 1911 and automatic transfer to National Archives of later census records. Petitions do help - available at http://www.globalgenealogy.com/Census/Petition.htm Download Adobe Acrobat first, then petitions of choice. SASKATCHEWAN is the only other province with as much support -- but we also have online census records at http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~downhome/nscensus.html Muriel M. In the book of proceedings of the board of agents locating the Loyalist Settlars, Samuel Tidd is recorded as being given grant 27 N in the town of Digby. His name is recorded in the civilian muster roll for Digby dated July 18, 1784. Samuel bought a lot 10/01/1788 (190 acres @ Boars Head) from John Caldwell at Cherry Valley, Little River, which is not far from Whale Cove which was where many of the Tidd's settled and is or was part of what was and still is 'Tiddville'. I hope this helps. Samuel is my ggggrandfather. I have more if you are interested. Betty

Surnames: Walsh, Welch, Walsh, Comeau Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/SOC.2ACE/834 Message Board Post: While researching my great-grandfather, Martin Walsh of Plympton and Digby, (originally from Ireland, who married Susanne Henriette Comeau at St. Croix, Plympton, Digby, Nova Scotia on 28 April 1857, and apparently died between 1866 and 1871), we learned that a Digby Courier newspaper article mentioned that he was "a prominent resident of this town and was one of those instrumental in the erection of St. Patrick's Roman Catholic church". We have since learned that the original St. Patrick's Church in Digby was a small chapel, built in 1843 "on the hill above the town". Does anyone know where this *original* Digby St. Patrick's Catholic Church was located, and if there was a cemetery associated with it? It is possible that Martin and Suzanne Walsh are buried there. Martin and Suzanne Walsh were the parents of Martin L. Walsh (1864-1935), later known as Capt. Marty Welch of Gloucester. website at http://hgea01.hgea.org/~twelch/
