    1. [CAN-NS-DIGBY] Partial UPDATE
    2. CathyLee
    3. Partial UPDATE has been completed on the Digby Genweb site. We now have 43 registered researchers. 321 obituaries in the index. 77 members on the Digby mailing list Unfortunately I ran into technical difficulties with the large update, the conversion process left errors that have to be corrected manually... Your late Christmas present maybe closer to Valentines Day, but I am working on it. While you ( 34 of you missing) are waiting don't forget to add your Digby surnames you are researching to the Researchers site.!!! Note: When posting obit to the index please put the Name on the obituary (YEAR First LAST): You must have a full date for the obit or the program will put a 01 /or 01or /2002 day/month/year So beware if a 01 shows up in a obit date, double check the date and let me know the correct date. Posting to the message board!! you have to classify your post, most are queries but deaths have to be classified DEATHS; marriages=MARRIAGES etc. Thanks for your help, now I will have more time to edit... 2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/SOC.2ACE/6.1 Message Board Post: Hello Kathy: -I am from Digby County and plan to compile genealogies of Long and Brier Island families whenever I have a spare moment. I have seen your post here and on Genforum, have you got any further. It makes sense that your Charlotte was George's daughter. I guess the question is really who was George and where did he come from? - In Rev. Greenwood's 1935 book "History of Freeport" he states: "George Albright had settled on the Cove by 1795. Whether he was a loyalist from Annapolis County is not known. There is a tradition that the original name is ALBREICHT, which may point to the German loyalists who settled in Clements. Greenwood lists 3 children that are known but as you've probably seen Martin and William Henry were baptized in 1795, Frances (female) in 1798 and Charlotte in 1807 and that makes 4. Your Charlotte was born in 1805 and that would make her 2 years old at her baptism. Greenwood goes on to say that all Freeport Albright's are descended from William Henry (book 1933) (and still true today). I am still missing a generation as from present day (Freeport)Albright's back I can only go to William Albright (1822-1875) who married Abigail Smith - but as speculated by Brian McDormand a Sarah (Albright) Morrell b-1826 may have been William's sister. Sarah's widowed mother, Sarah Albright (same name) was living with Sarah Jr. and her (Sarah Jr.'s) husband Edward Morrell. Sarah Sr. was 75 (b c1796). If I can find that a) William J. Albright's mother was Sarah and B) that William Henry Albright's wife was Sarah then I have (can find as I am not related) a clear line back to George Albright as well. -Tell me more on how you knew about this fire of 1812. It appears that this was the burning death of George Albright and we still don't know his wife I guess. -Whom we are speculating (although strong speculations) is Charlotte's brother, Martin Albright, was still living in 1871 census. He was 86 and living in Sandy Cove (Digby Neck) with his wife Pattey. They were not on the 1881 census. This would have made Martin born c1885 - 2 years after the major number of Loyalists arrived. - Between 1871 and 1891 their were only 6 to 10 Albright's in Freeport and 8 to 12 in Sandy Cove. The reason I give the higher number in both cases is because I have 4 William (wife Kate) and children Bessie and Charles that don't have a district listed. - To throw a few other pieces in the puzzle an infant (possibly meaning under 18) Dorothy Albright was drowned in the Bay of Fundy with 4 men in 1790. Who was she (another of George's daughters?).? - In 1838 census no Albright's are shown in Freeport, Central Grove or Tiverton (Long or Brier Island). The 1865 map shows no Albrights. - In 1827 a Henry Albright occupied fishing lot #26 in Freeport. - Martin was in Sandy Cove in 1838. - The 1861 census had William H. Albright with his wife and child. - I notice you mentioned Medlar. Jacob Medlar was a Brier Island loyalist. A John Medlar was still here in 1828 when the Westport Baptist church was formed.

    1. [CAN-NS-DIGBY] As A Nova Scotian -- Would Like to See ALL MPs With Gold Ticks
    2. Muriel Davidson
    3. To Robert Thibault, MP:- I keep waiting for a memo from you, stating you will support census release -- this affects the West Nova Riding, as well as all ridings across Canada. Too many newcomer Members of Parliament, like yourself, feel you should follow all the little rules and regulations as given to you -- if you do not follow the same, you might find yourself sitting the back-bench area or lose the "Hon." title. Murray Calder's C-312 Bill was turned down by a sub-committee which turned down 13 other bills in 15 minutes. He will have ONE hour of debate, but no vote. Senator Lorna Milne's S-12 Bill is in Third Reading stage, with some debate and then vote. We are hopeful for a positive vote -- then this bill comes to House of Commons. As a former Nova Scotian, on behalf of all Down Home people, will you SUPPORT census release on behalf of your constituents -- they did vote for you in 2000, please remember. Muriel M. Davidson [email protected] Co-Chair, Canada Census Committee http://www.globalgenealogy.com/Census/Score5.htm#NS
