To all researchers of Nova Scotian records:- Many across Canada, and from beyond Canada's borders are working very hard to obtain the release of the 1911 census records by 2003 -- the year it was supposed to be released. I am a native Nova Scotian -- my research is in these records, and am working very hard on behalf of many. Senator Lorna Milne has Bill S-12 almost ready for voting, but the ones in Ottawa need PROOF -- proof that we want the census released so we can get our family research done. The only PROOF "they" accept are signatures on petitions. http://www.globalgenealogy.com/Census/Petition.htm We need both House of Commons and Senate petitions. At present, all Nova Scotian Members of Parliament are supportive of census release, except one - Robert Thibault. You may write to him [email protected] The Hon. Robert Thibault is Fisheries & Oceans Minister. Let's work together and get the 1911 census released in 2003. Muriel M. To all readers:- Many in the area may be family historians or genealogists, some may be seeking one ONE missing person -- others are very active, including research for others. Senator Lorna Milne has Bill S-12, now in third reading, debate and voting -- it calls for automatic transfer of the census records to National Archives where one might check for family records. Murray Calder's Bill C-312 was declared non-votable by a committee -- he will have one hour of debate at the end of March. PETITIONS are requested and needed for both Senate and House of Commons -- the same person may sign both, either language. Non-Residents have a special one for the Senate. http://www.globalgenealogy.com/Census/Petition.htm Download Adobe Acrobat (FREE), and petitions!! Sign and mail to addresses given, please -- students may use this as a school project -- but give name of school for recognition.. Only signatures count as PROOF that you and I wish the census records released - we only had 201 from all of Canada last week. Let's start signing!!! Muriel M.
