I believe his father's name was Andrew. Mother's name unknown. He was born in St. John. New Brunswick, but moved to Digby. In 1904 he moved to Providence, Rhode Island and married there in 1908. Would like to find other family, as I'm at a dead end with this side of the family. Thank you, Beverly

They were driven by a gale, and ended up in Bermuda. In the spring of 1784, the JOSEPH, Captain Jonathon Walton, went to Bermuda and transported the survivors to Digby.William O'Brien appears to have been alone, either single or widowed. (page 227) - William O'Bryan, of Brier Island, sold Home Lot # 5, on Long Island , to Borden Thurber, on 22 April 1797. If I remember correctly, William O'Brien later settled at Gulliver's Hole (now Gulliver's Cove), Digby County. Hope this helps some... John

When did O'Brien's first arrive in NS? I am looking for information on parents of William O’Brien. In 1763 a Henry O’Brien received a land grant for 500 acres in Sackville, NB. I think NB was part of Nova Scotia at that time. Could Henry be his grand father? I was under the impression that my grand father George Lennox OBrien’s family were from County Cork, Ireland. I now know that his father Edward and his grand father William were both born in Canada, Edward, in either Sackville or Cookville NB, my grandfather George born in Cookville, NB. Thank you, John Hayes [email protected]
There is a 1861 census for all Digby county but only part is on line. It doesn't give you very much information only the head of the family and no. of children. !871 is the first census to give individual names.
Thank you Luella for the Teed obits. Is there an 1861 Census report for Digby County....I can only locate Brier Island ? Wally

The authorities in Nova Scotia sent my half-brother a message but he refused to talk to me. He said that my mother has diabetes, that only two of the 4 or 5 kids she had were full brother/sister, every other kid was by a different father, all of whom, apparently, were her employers. He seemed to imply that my/our mother was still alive. One of the kids was born in the early 60s. Does this match anyone in your family?
