Barry Hebb Ronald Joseph Wadden Mrs. Mary Belle Tracey Tracey Isabel Genevia Canavan John Lawrence Giovannetti ******************************************************************************************************* Barry Hebb Passed away in: Neil's Harbour, Nova Scotia, Canada Passed away on: 20/01/2011 We regret to announce the passing of Barry Phillip Hebb, 60, of Ingonish. Barry died peacefully at Buchanan Memorial Hospital, Neils Harbour, on Thursday, Jan. 20, 2011, surrounded by his loving family. He was the son of the late Reginald and Stella Hebb, Halifax. He is survived by his two sons, Darrell (Nicole), Cheticamp, and Robbie (Rhonda), Ingonish; and his daughter, Stephanie, Ingonish. He is also survived by his two grandchildren, Dakota and Jacob; brothers, Darrell (Mildred), Halifax, and Robbie, Kentville; and sisters, Theresa (Roger), Halifax, and Judy, Dartmouth. Besides his parents, Barry was predeceased by his brother, Kenny and his sister, Sharon, both of Halifax. Visitation for Barry Hebb will be held in St. Peter's Church, Ingonish, on Saturday, Jan. 22, 2011, at 10 a.m. The funeral mass will take place at 11 a.m. with Fr. Dan MacDonald officiating. The burial will be in the parish cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Barry's memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. Born in Glace Bay, and a former resident of King Edward Street, he was the son of Carmilla (McKinnon) Wadden and the late Leonard Wadden. Ronald Joseph was a member of St. Anne's Church, Glace Bay. The full obituary and funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by the V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, Glace Bay, early next week. At the time of her passing, she was surrounded by her loving family. Mary Belle was the daughter of the late John Anthony and Julia (MacInnis) Steele. She was a member of St. John's Church, Glace Bay. Mary Belle loved going for drives, camping and playing bingo. She was also blessed with a wonderful sense of humour. She is survived by her seven children, Elizabeth (Frank) Piercey, Marion Bridge, Diane (Roy) MacNeil, Glace Bay, Barbara (Pat) Nearing, MacKenzie, British Columbia, Brian (Amelia) Tracey, Angus (Ann) Tracey, both in Glace Bay, John (Lorena) Tracey, St. Peters, and Joyce Tracey, Barrie, Ont. Mary Belle was a grandma to 30 grandchildren and well as a great-grandma. She will be greatly missed by all, especially, her best bingo buddy and sister-in-law, Mary Steele as well as nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Tracey, daughters, Julia (Hogan) Tracey, Mary Blanche Tracey, Annastatia and a son, Fredrick Joseph Tracey. Mary Belle was also predeceased by two brothers, John Anthony and Angus Joseph Steele. Visitation will be held Sunday, Jan. 23 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. The funeral mass, officiated by Rev. Leo Boone is Monday at 11 a.m. in St. John's Church followed by interment in the parish cemetery. Born in Little Pond, Isabel was the daughter of the late William and Florence (MacPhee) Stubbert. For a number of years she was an Avon representative and also operated a convenience store on Tobin Road. She was a member of the Gospel Hall on Yorke Street in Sydney Mines. She is survived by her sons, Wayne (Diane) Canavan, North Sydney, and Russell (Donna) Clarke, North Sydney; two daughters, June (George) Jaques, North Sydney, Sherry (David) Porter, Sydney Mines; and daughter-in-law, Wanda Canavan, Tobin Road; her three sisters, Elaine (Fred) Blagdon, Tobin Road, Bernadette Glover, Sydney Mines, Yvonne (Willie) Johnston, Tobin Road; her three brothers, William (Kay) Stubbert, Guelph, Ont., George Stubbert, Kitchener, Ont., and Orville (Florence) Stubbert, Sydney Mines. Also surviving are her 12 grandchildren, Brenda Canavan, Shelly Lynn Fraser, Noelle Canavan-Rose, Donna Canavan, Dale MacMullin, Sylvia Jaques, Wilson Jaques, Becky Jaques, Lorraine Russell, Lloyd Jaques, George Wayne Jaques and Shelly Lynn Gerrow; her 22 great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life". ************************************* John Lawrence Giovannetti Born in: Port Morien, Nova Scotia, Canada Born on: 01/10/1921 Passed away in: Glace Bay, Nova Scotia, Canada Passed away on: 19/01/2011 It is with deep sorrow that we, the family of John Lawrence Giovannetti, announce his passing Jan. 19, 2011, at Taigh Na Mara Nursing Home in Glace Bay. Born Oct. 1, 1921, in Port Morien, John was a son of the late Joseph and Mary (Thomas) Giovannetti. He was a member of St. Mary parish and Branch 55, Royal Canadian Legion, Port Morien. John served with the Sherbrooke Fusiliers in the Second World War. He landed on Juno Beach on D Day June 6, 1944. John was wounded in Goerlie, Holland, in October 1944. As a result, his left arm was amputated at the shoulder. John returned home in 1945, married Alena Miles and raised 11 children. John worked for 30 years with the Department of Highways as a labourer, foreman and area supervisor retiring in 1985. Despite having only one arm, John became a top flight athlete. He was inducted into the Cape Breton Sports Hall of Fame in 2004 and the Nova Scotia Sports Hall of Fame in 2007, in recognition of his many achievements in the sport of trap shooting. He competed across Canada and the United States winning the Nova Scotia Championship in 1967 and two Canadian Championships in 1974 and 1985. His proudest accomplishment in the sport was his win of the Southern Grand American in Florida in 1982. John is survived by his wife, Alena (Miles); four sons, Gary, Port Morien, Clement, Port Morien, Eric, Sydney and David (Susan), Port Morien; seven daughters, Sherry (John) Warren, Almonte, Ont., Judy Giovannetti (Jim Surette), Mira Gut, Patricia Giovannetti (Real Courcey), Numeau, New Caledonia, Lynn (Terry), Port Morien, Anita Giovannetti, Port Morien, Jennifer (Robert) Seeley, Montague, P.E.I., Joy Giovannetti (Scott Retford), Glace Bay; 25 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by brothers, Raymond (Elaine), British Columbia, Joseph, Ontario; and sister, Dolores Zorychta, Glace Bay. Besides his parents, John was predeceased by brothers, Clement, Charles and Edmund and sisters, Florence, Marguerite, Gladys, Eileen and Colleen.
