Edmond Boudreau Marty Allan Nicholson Millie (Robinson) Jackson Ross Anthony Philip Stead ******************************************************************************************************* Edmond Boudreau Born in: Belle Marche, Cheticamp, Nova Scotia, Canada Born on: 09/10/1933 Passed away in: New Waterford, Nova Scotia, Canada Passed away on: 02/01/2010 On Sunday, Jan. 2, 2011, of this new year, when a cure was not to be, a truly remarkable husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother and friend passed away quietly at home after sharing an unforgettable Christmas with his entire family in the family home on LeDrew Street. Born Oct. 9, 1933, in Belle Marche, Cheticamp, he was the son of the late Amedee and Justile (Poirier) Boudreau. At the age of 16 he came to New Waterford and worked with the carpentry trade for his uncle Leo Boudreau for many years. His sons joined him at a very early age and together they formed a company 'Edmond and Sons'. For many years they shared funny stories and laughter at the supper table. At the ripe age of 70 he made it clear that nothing would please him more than to go out west and work the trade with his sons yet again. He had a passion for music, playing guitar and singing, listening to fiddle, and step-dancing. As a member of Mount Carmel parish he loved to attend church and in his younger years sang with the church choir. Edmond was also a 50 year honorary member of the Carpenter's Union, Local 1588, a former member of the KOC and one of the founding members of the Cercle Evangeline (French Club). His sense of humour was with him to the very end. He loved to laugh and would always muster up the strength to let out a bellow. His lingering heavy French accent was one of his many charming qualities despite the fact that he lived in an English speaking community for so many years. He was an avid journal keeper and one only had to query a date and he'd make quick reference to his notes. His toolbox was never too far away as he rushed to tend to anything in need of repair. Edmond leaves behind to treasure memories his wife of 53 years, Pauline (Chaisson); sons, Brian (Yvonne), Wayne, Eric, all of Alberta; daughters, Denise (Philip) McNeil, New Victoria, Willena (Danny) Campbell; grandchildren, Christopher and Meagan, Matthew and Rachelle, Erik and Rebecca and numerous nieces and nephews; brothers, Leo (Jane), Ottawa, Hector (Shirley), Winnipeg; sisters, Zabeth Bourgeois, Marie Theresa, Matilda, Dora (Clifford) Aucoin, Lorette (Simi John) Poirier, all of Cheticamp. He was predeceased by older brother, Joe, sisters, Agnes and Lorette. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford. A funeral mass of celebration for Edmond will take place Thursday, Jan. 6 at 2 p.m. in the Parish Church of St. Leonard, Mount Carmel Avenue, with Fr. Ray Huntley officiating. Burial will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery with a luncheon to follow at St. Leonard's Parish Hall on Convent Street, New Waterford. Donations in his memory may be made to the Hospice/Palliative Care Society of Cape Breton or a charity of one's choice. Online expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at: www.vjmcgillivray.ca. "We can still hear him whistle while he works.
