Born in North Sydney, Dave was the son of the late Ross and Muriel Russell Brideau. He was employed for a number of years as a linesman. Dave was an entrepreneur who successfully owned and operated his own business. Very talented when he came to creating or repairing any project he put his hand to. Dave had an avid interest in music, guitars, old cars and truly enjoyed fishing at the lake. He was a member of St. Joseph Church, North Sydney, with a lifelong faith in God. He is survived by his stepfather, Richard Brideau (Jeanette) Charlottetown, P.E.I.; two sons, Shane and Trevor Russell; and his daughter, Nadine Russell; his brothers, Ross (Vi), Chezzetcook, N.S., Sandy (Lorraine), Sydney Mines, N.S., Ron, Beaverbank, N.S., Al, North Sydney, N.S., Joe (Amy), Millville, N.S., Lloyd Russell, Vancouver, B.C., and Troy (Raylene) Brideau, Calgary, Alta.; several nieces, nephews, relatives and close friends, including his companion, Debbie Pattingale. Linda passed away Saturday, Jan. 8, 2011, at her home surrounded by love with her family and friends. Born in Glace Bay, Linda was the daughter of the late Samuel 'Sam' and Olga (Kelloway) Gilmet. She was a lunch and grounds supervisor with Cape Breton District School Board at St. Anne's School, Glace Bay. She had many other jobs throughout her life assisting many people through times of need. Linda was an avid card player and especially enjoyed playing Texas Hold Em with her close friends better known as "The Original 6." Linda was a very outgoing person, always smiling and never complained. In earlier years Linda would always be planning summer camping trips with her family where they would spend many hours sitting around the campfire; these were times Linda truly enjoyed. She will be missed by all. Linda is survived by her loving husband of 34 years, Michael, whom she often referred to as her rock. She is also survived by her best friend and daughter, Tracie; her grandson, Jordan, whom she raised and loved as her own son; granddaughters, Jessica and Haley; and her faithful pet cat, Blue, who never left her side. Linda is also survived by her sisters, Karen Kennedy, Pam Perry (Billy), Helen Toomey (Gerald); brothers, Joey Gilmet (Darlene), Sammy Gilmet (Wendy), Bobby Gilmet (Chrissy); mother-in-law, Joan Boone; numerous sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and close friends. She was married to the late Sergeant Major John William Kruper who died in November of 1993. Born in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, Canada, on Jan. 9, 1917, the daughter of the late Donald and Mary Ann (McDonald) MacKeigan. She was a graduate of Cape Breton High School. She married John in Quincy, MA in 1952 and over the years lived in various places, including Germany and Fort Devens, MA due to John's military career. She was an active communicant of Dunstable Congregation Church of Dunstable, MA. She was very active in the Dunstable community, a member of the Dunstable Grange and the Eastern Star Association. She is survived by her two nephews, Kenneth and his wife Marilyn MacKeigan of St. Andrews, N.B., Canada and Donald and his wife Angie Bowes of Newfoundland, Canada; three nieces, Allana and her husband, Jerry Horsman of Douglas, N.B., Canada, Marie MacKeigan of Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada, and Anne MacDonald of Charlottetown, P.E.I. Kristina is also survived by four grandnieces and a grandnephew.
