Born May 13, 1936, in Dominion, she was the daughter of the late Mary 'Sis' MacPherson Higgins and Michael Higgins. Margie enjoyed singing, spending time with the sick and infirm. Margie worked for years at Glace Bay Miners Museum Restaurant as hospitality host. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and telling stories. Margie was a member of Christen Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. Margie is survived by daughters, Donna Tracey (Charles), Kathleen Bates (Paul), Eileen Richardson (Robert); and son, Michael (Janice); grandchildren, Michelle, Dwayne, Billy Joe and Brittany; great-grandchildren, Haley, Brandon, Tyler and Connor. Born in Port Morien, Jan. 25, 1947, he was the son of the late Robert and Mary (Andrews) Matheson of Port Morien. Sandy was a member of the Pipe Fitters and Millwright unions and worked on various construction sites and retired due to ill health from Atomic Energy of Canada. He was a member of St. Paul's Anglican Church, Port Morien. Sandy was very devoted to his family and cherished every moment he spent with his children and precious grandchildren. He will be missed by his old pal, Max. Sandy is survived by his wife of 43 years, Sandra (Butts); by his son, Jason (Carrie), Grand Cache, Alta.; daughters, Terie (Donnie) Buchanan, New Glasgow, N.S., Deanna (Chris), Hampton, N.B.; and by grandchildren, Alexandra, Riley, Corbin, Kaiden and Zander; brothers, Robert (Linda), Clarence (Rose); sister, Georgina (Mike) Byrne, all of Port Morien. Since his retirement he has spent his free time exploring the backwoods and beaches of Nova Scotia. He thoroughly enjoyed the outdoors and cherished the time spent with his children, his grandson and family. Charles is survived by his son, John (Angela), Bridgewater; his daughter, June (Bill) Potter, North Sydney; and his grandson, Gabriel Potter. Like so many others at that time, Marie moved to Toronto at a young age to get her start in life. She found the man of her dreams and they raised four beautiful daughters and all that life had to offer. She always enjoyed coming back home to New Waterford with her family to visit family and friends. Marie's door was always open to family and friends, and no one got away without her filling you up with one her hearty meals. Born Oct. 19, 1951, in Neil's Harbour, he was a son of the late Everett and Doreen (Lawrence) Smith. Doug was a lobster fisherman, who began fishing in his early 20s with his father. He fished on several boats throughout the years with the most recent being the Bonnie Roger III. Doug was an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed sports fishing and camping. He also enjoyed making miniature lobster traps, playing poker, reading novels and watching football. He will be sadly missed by sisters, Brenda (Bobby) Fitzgerald, Elaine Nunn; brothers, Jackie (Jocelyn), Derek (Anita), all of Neil's Harbour; seven nieces and nephews. Born in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late Ronald and Mabel (MacLean) Morrison and was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Isabel was a well known contralto soloist in her younger years and often sang in festivals, weddings, local concerts and guest features on CBC radio programs. She was an accomplished piano player and enjoyed skating well into her 80s. A member of the United Church most of her life, Isabel had a very strong faith and participated in her church life as a choir member, Sunday school teacher, a UCW life member and a church elder. Isabel will be sadly missed by her children, Ron (Donna), Glace Bay, Ralph (Anne) Pictou, Diane (Ron) MacDiarmid, Hamilton, Ont.; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Doug was born Oct. 12, 1923, to John R. and Elizabeth (Mac Lean) Mac Dougall in Whitney Pier. He joined the army in 1941, and served overseas with the First Canadian Army. He was wounded in the Italy Campaign. Upon his return to Cape Breton he began his working career at the Sydney Steel plant retiring in 1982. In 1946 he married Marie Mac Donald and in 1949 they moved to Westmount. Together they raised five children and he will always be remembered as a generous and loving dad. Doug was a devoted member of Holy Rosary parish for over 60 years and his faith was unwavering. He was a life member of the Royal Canadian Legion Westside Legion branch 126. Doug enjoyed watching baseball, attending the Screaming Eagles games with Junior, and visiting his friends, but his greatest joy was his family. He and Marie took great pride in all their children's accomplishments. In March 2010, Marie passed away short of 64 years of marriage. Doug is survived by sons, John (Anita), Bedford, Joe (Elaine), Winnipeg and Ron (Lorna), Stonewall, Man.; daughters, Mary Barrett, Dartmouth, and Elizabeth (Clark) Acker, Shelburne; grandchildren, Jolaine, Sarah, Colleen, Andrea, Allison, Stephen, Kevin, Michelle, Douglas, David and Meghan; great-grandchildren, Neige, Autumn, Toufic, Rhian and Mia. John was a very outgoing and social person having a lot of close friends in the Bridgeport area and was a member of the Row Street Athletic Club. He was also very mechanically inclined and truly enjoyed working on cars in his yard in his spare time.
