Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.fillmoreandwhitman.com. ********************************* Olga Marion 'Ollie' Alexander Born in: Vernon, British Columbia, Canada Born on: 29/07/1933 Passed away in: Brampton, Ontario, Canada Passed away on: 17/01/2011 Peacefully at home on Jan. 17, 2011. Born July 29, 1933, in Vernon, B.C. to Peter and Katherine (Shumsky) Mazur, she was raised in Coldstream and Kelowna, B.C. She joined the RCAF in 1954 and was later stationed in Metz, France for three years. Upon returning in 1959 she met her future husband Vincent Joseph Alexander of Sydney, N.S. where both were stationed at RCAF Base St. Hubert, PQ. Upon leaving the Air Force, they were married and made their home in Downsview, later moving to Brampton in 1963. She leaves a son, Ed of Etobicoke; a daughter, Corinne and a grandson, Zachary of Brampton. She was predeceased by her husband Vincent after 41 years of marriage, by a younger brother Sgt. Larry (Helen) Mazur, RCMP, of Vancouver. She leaves two sisters Mrs Sharon (Joe) Burkart of Vancouver, and Mrs. Susan Falle, of Scarborough; and a brother, Mr. Stan (Sylvia) Mazur of Kelowna, B.C. She also leaves many nieces and nephews across Canada and a niece in the USA. She was predeceased by her parents and her in-laws, Edward and Bertha Alexander of Sydney, N.S. A lover of life, inherently joyful and a friend to all, Shannon lived her life with magnetic effervescence. She is survived by her partner, Jordan Petterson; her parents, Donnie and Margie (Crowdis) MacRae; her grandmother, Sadie Crowdis; her mother-in-law, Thelma Kehoe; father-in-law, Carl Petterson; her siblings, Maria (Preston), DJ, Gwen (Jeff) and sister-in-law, Victoria; her nieces, Isla and Catherine and her nephew, Thomas; her pets, Chaos, Harmony, Diesel, Hubert, Zongi and her budgie, as well as extended family and friends, too many to mention. A private funeral service for family will be held on Friday, Jan. 21, 2011, officiated by Rev. Cyril passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2011 at the Glace Bay Hospital following a courageous battle with cancer, with his loving wife, Gail at his side. Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late Charles Worrell and Norma (Kennedy) Wadden. Cyril was a self employed fisherman who loved the ocean and loved spending time on his boat, The Wild Goose. He is survived by his loving wife, Gail; his daughter, Krista (Matthew Boone), Calgary, Alta. and his son, Justin, Port Morien. He is also survived by aunts, Valerie (Buddy) Wadden, Beryl (Art) Smart; cousin and dear friend, Ray Wadden and also by his very close friend, Greg (Laura) Thomas. Also left to mourn are sisters-in-law, Theresa, Debbie, Marlene (Johnny) Simms; brother-in-law, Charlie (Kim) Thomas; father-in-law, Bernie Thomas and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brother, George Andrew in infancy and by his grandparents, Cyril and Lily Mae Kennedy and George and Elva Wadden. Born on Horne's Road, Albert Bridge, Gordon was a son of the late Thomas and Beatrice (Tutty) Horne. He was a member of Bethel Presbyterian Church with close ties to Union Presbyterian Church, Mira Ferry, where he attended in his early years. Gordon retired from First United Church where he was employed as caretaker for over 30 years. On his own time, he carried out many similar duties for friends and neighbors. He took great pride in his work and enjoyed being of service to others. Gordon is survived by his brother, Levi (Jenny), Meadows Road; sister-in-law, Helen Horne; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Harriett MacIntyre and brothers, Allan Campbell, Albert Campbell and Kendall Horne. Visitation will take place at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Thursday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. A funeral service will be held at Union Presbyterian Church on Friday 2 p.m., with Rev. Robert Lyle and Pastor Kevin Richardson officiating. Interment in Riverside Cemetery.
