Bridgette 'Bride' Dyer Walter 'Hunt' Kimm Isabell (Gibbons) Smith Hannah (Moules) Riley Darlene 'Mick' Hoeg ******************************************************************************************************* Bridgette 'Bride' Dyer Born in: Bishop Fall's, Newfoundland, Canada Born on: 04/05/1943 Passed away in: Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada Passed away on: 21/01/2011 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Bride Dyer on Friday, Jan. 21, 2011, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, after a brief battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her loving family. Born in Bishop Falls, N.L., she was the daughter of the late Norman and Florence Graham. Bride was a member of the United Pentecostal Church, Sydney. She enjoyed playing darts and video games, reading, camping, and listening to music. Bridgette is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Gordon; her children, Arlene (Tom), David (Lynn), Randy (Shelley), Gary and Kenneth, all of Sydney, four wonderful grandchildren, Carissa, Laura Beth, Jake and Brandon. She is also survived by her sister, Margaret Pierre (Barry), Codroy Valley, N.L.; brother, Reg (Mary) Colbourne, Sydney; dear friend and sister-in-law, Delores Graham, as well as several nieces, nephews and close friend, Bev Sollazzo. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Nellie Graham MacDonald and brothers, Jim and Sam Graham. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held today (Tuesday, Jan. 25) at the S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Memorial service will take place 2 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 26 at the Sydney Pentecostal Church, Victoria Road, Sydney. Reception to follow in the funeral home reception area. The family would like to send a special thanks to longtime family physician, Dr. Greg Myatt, thank you to the doctors, Dr. Ritter and Dr. Gowan, the nurses and staff at the Palliative Care Unit, especially, Sharon Barron and the VON, for all their support, compassion and going the distance for Bride, we truly appreciated it. Online condolences may be sent to our webpage at www.chantfuneralhome.com. ********************************* Walter 'Hunt' Kimm Born in: Glace Bay, Nova Scotia, Canada Passed away in: Tower Road, Nova Scotia, Canada Passed away on: 23/01/2011 With heavy hearts the family of Walter 'Hunt' Kimm announce his passing away peacefully on Sunday, Jan. 23, 2011, at My Cape Breton Home for Seniors. Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late Walter and Helen Kimm, Birch Grove. He was predeceased by his wife, Evelyn Margaret (Lynk) Kimm. He was employed at the coal mine, steel plant, Turner's Transfer and also worked in Ontario. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Walter will be sadly missed by his three children, Annie (Haydn) Lahey, Catalone, Alvin Kimm (Ann), Long Beach Road, Gordie Kimm, Glace Bay; and also by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind to mourn, brothers, Alfie, Max and sisters, Hanna Dean, Birch Grove, and Annie Bean, B.C. Hunt was predeceased by brothers, Hyney, Karl and sister, Lena MacLean. For the last three years he resided in My Cape Breton Home for Seniors in Howie Centre where he enjoyed living and where he was loved by Sherry McNeil, staff and friends whom he thought of as family. He had a great sense of humour and was always finding ways to have a laugh. The family would like to express their sincere thanks and appreciation to Sherry Mcneil and staff for the love and excellent care Walter received over the past years. Visitation for Walter will be held at Patten Funeral Home, 71 Union St., Glace Bay on Friday, Jan. 28, 2011 from 12-2 p.m. with funeral service to follow in Patten Chapel at 2 p.m., with Pastor Kevin Richardson officiating. Born in Florence, N.S. on Feb. 28, 1926, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Isabella (Arkle) Gibbons. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She is survived by sons, Jim Young (Betty), Sydney Mines, and Carter Young (Celeste), Florence, special son, Cecil LeBlanc, Dartmouth; daughters, Irene (Randy Croft), Noel Shore, and Peggy (Don Philipo), Westmount; along with 13 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren Besides her parents, Isabell was predeceased by her husband, Reginald Smith, daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Gordie Newton, brothers, Robert and Joseph, sisters, Maggie, Annie, Ella, Irene and former husband, Jim Young. At Isabell's request there will be no visitation or funeral service. A private family burial will take place at a later date. Donations or cards in memory may be sent to this address or online at www.serenitylindsayfuneralhome.ca. ************************************ Hannah (Moules) Riley Born in: Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada Born on: 11/07/1931 Passed away in: Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada Passed away on: 20/01/2011 Hannah Florence (Moules) Riley, beloved wife of Wilfred A (Woody) Riley, passed away in Lethbridge on Thursday, Jan. 20, 2011. She is survived by her children, Alan (Sue), St. Albert, Janet (Richard) Richter, Pincher Creek and Keith (Robin), Alpharetta, Ga., U.S.A. Hannah leaves behind four grandchildren, Jeremy Richter, Blair (Noreen) Richter, Sean Riley and Erica Riley; one great-grandchild, Damon Richter; brothers, John (Thelma), Raymond (Marjorie), Gerald (Marilyn) and sister, Charlotte Parsons; and 14 nieces and nephews. Hannah was predeceased by her parents, Alice and Raymond Moules and a brother, Donald. Hannah was born on July 11, 1931, in Sydney, N.S. In 1949, she graduated from the Sydney Academy in Sydney, and in 1950, she graduated from Normal College in Truro. She taught at Whitney School in Sydney from 1950 to 1953. She married Wilfred A. Riley in 1953. In 1959 they moved to Lethbridge and then to Pincher Creek in 1961. Hannah was a member of the Pincher Creek United Church since 1961, a choir member for many years and Sunday school teacher in the earlier years. Hannah was a kindergarten and substitute teacher in Pincher Creek. An ardent golfer, she held various positions with the ladies golf club. She also enjoyed bowling and skating. Hannah found great joy in painting and was a member of Accidental Artists of Pincher Creek. A private family graveside service will be held at Fairview Cemetery on Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2011, at 11 a.m. followed by a memorial service at 2 p.m. in the Pincher Creek United Church with Rev. Brent Woodard officiating. Born in Sydney Mines on April 10, 1956, she was the daughter of the late Spurgeon and Marguerite (Barrie) Hoeg. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Anglican Church, North Sydney. Raised in Alder Point, Darlene was always smiling and looking her best. She enjoyed taking daily walks, shopping and her bingo games. She knew how to touch peoples' hearts and give life advice to anyone who was in need of guidance. She was a devoted family member. She will be remembered as a proud, loving mother to Walter, Charles, Candace and Kevin, and loving grandmother to Zachary and Jackson. Also left to mourn are several sisters and brothers. She will be sadly missed and forever in the hearts of the ones she touched. Visitation for Darlene Hoeg will be held in the J. M.
