Ferneyhough Mildred Nicholson Robert Lavin Charles 'Charlie' Ball Mary (Capstick) Maxwell Linda Boone ******************************************************************************************************* Agnes (MacLeod) Hay Born in: Glace Bay, Nova Scotia, Canada Born on: 15/03/1914 Passed away in: Glace Bay, Nova Scotia, Canada Passed away on: 09/01/2011 Agnes (MacLeod) Hay's journey has come to a restful conclusion, Sunday, Jan. 9, 2011, at the Glace Bay Hospital while surrounded by kind and loving hearts. Agnes was born March 15, 1914, to Robert and Annie (Smith) MacLeod of Glace Bay, where she resided all her life. A kind and loving spirit, Agnes was possessed of an artistic talent which expressed itself through the beauty of her flower gardens and the wonderful sea and snow scapes done in oil. A marvelous nurturing spirit could be tasted in her famous 'Fat Archie Cookies' which she generously shared to all who loved them. Her selfless compassion was experienced by all who came to know her. A deep religious belief helped to sustain Agnes in times of stress and through the pain of illness. Her riveting sense of humor kept everyone in high spirits, especially during family gatherings. Agnes, the last surviving member of the MacLeod family was predeceased by her husband, Thomas MacKenzie Hay, son, Robert Alexander 'Sandy', daughter, Marion Campbell. She was also predeceased by sisters, Ida, Bertie, Etta, Chris and Margie, two brothers, Donald and Art in the Second World War. Her family left without their precious 'Mama' include, Buddy 'Tom' (Jean), Glace Bay, Art (Cheryl), Ottawa, Nina (Al) Redding, Saint John, N.B., Jean Anne, with whom she resided of Glace Bay, and son-in-law, Bernie Campbell, Glace Bay. Agnes will be deeply missed by her many nieces and nephews, 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and one precious great great-grandchild, Ella. Agnes was a member of Newsom United Church, Glace Bay. She cherished her friendships with the ladies of Newsom UCW and all her neighbours. Agnes' care was entrusted to a loving and caring team of friends, 'Her Guardian Angels'! Visitation to honor Agnes will be held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., and Glace Bay. A funeral service will be celebrated 2 p.m. Friday at Newsom United Church, Glace Bay, with Rev. Michael Goodfellow and Rev. Ferneyhough Born in: Sydney Mines, Nova Scotia, Canada Born on: 11/03/1940 Passed away in: Little Bras d'Or, Nova Scotia, Canada Passed away on: 10/01/2011 It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of a loving husband, father and grandfather, Raymond Ferneyhough, on Monday, Jan. 10, 2011, at his residence. Born in Sydney Mines on March 11, 1940, he was the son of the late William and Nora (Bragg) Ferneyhough. He was employed at Nickerson & Sons for 45 years. He was an avid gardener and loved spending time on his woodlot. He enjoyed listening to his Hank Williams records and visiting with his friends of which he had many. Raymond is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Elaine (MacKeigan) Ferneyhough; son, Bill, Florence; daughters, Patsy, Florence, and Karen (John), Sydney Mines. He is also survived by his seven grandchildren, Brian, Nicole, Kristen, Brandon, James, Morgan and Alana; brother, George (Patsy), Bras d'Or; sisters, Rhea (Ben) Long, North Sydney, and Eva (Clayton) Morris, Sydney Mines; aunts, Marg Dandy and Kathleen Bragg; several sisters and brothers-in-law and nieces and nephews. He will be sadly missed by his brother-in-law, Frank MacKeigan, and cousins, Duncan Dandy and Keith Bragg, with whom he spent a lot of hours and his good friends, Allan March and Theresa Trenholme. She went very peacefully surrounded by those who loved her. Born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of Harry and Bertha Hartling Mum loved her gardens and she loved to laugh. Playing cards and listening to music with her friends brought her great pleasure. She also loved going to Florida for 20 years and found many friends there. She adored her family and especially her grandchildren and her special nieces and nephews. She is survived by her son, David (Judy), Halifax; and daughter, Gail (Wayne Moore), Saint John; her granddaughter, Corrie (Todd Ross), Gondola Point; grandson, Sean Moore, Summerville; and her great-grandchildren, Daimon, Kaelon and Ella. Mildred was predeceased by her husband of many years, Duncan James 'Nick' and her brothers, Murray, twin brothers, Aubrey and Everest, Ernest and sister, Dorothy Karrel. Born in Sydney, he was the son of the late Charles and Virginia 'Jean' (MacKillop) Ball. Charlie began his career with Schwartz in the furniture business, then after many years he went on to own and operate Charlie-Joe's Furniture store, with his business partner Joe Burke, until his retirement. Three years ago he became a sales representative with Robertson's Candy from Truro, being known to many as "Candy Man". He enjoyed being with his many friends, especially his Wednesday night poker club, Saturday lunches and his morning coffee buddies. Charlie was an avid hockey fan, enjoying the Cape Breton Oilers, Screaming Eagles and his Montreal Canadiens "Go Habs Go". Charlie enjoyed traveling, especially their yearly trips to York Beach, Maine. A loving husband, father and grandfather, he survived by his wife, Ann (MacIsaac); daughter, Amber (David) Ritcey, Truro; granddaughter, Addison Charley - "the light of his life" and his buddy Nealy - a chocolate labrador retriever. Also survived by his brothers, Gary (Olive), Kenneth (Irene); sister, Donna; sisters-in-law, Margie Flemming, Linda MacIsaac, Francine (Donald) Fraser and several nieces and nephews. Born Feb. 12, 1918 in Florence, Cape Breton, she was a daughter of the late Maurice and Emma (Burton) Capstick. She lived most of her life in Cape Breton and the Annapolis Valley. In her younger years she attended the School for the Blind and worked for Moirs Chocolate Factory, Halifax. A devoted wife and mother, she was also a past member of St. Joseph's CWL, Bras d'Or and had been active in her community. She lived an independent life and never let her blindness hold her back from any challenge she faced. She was an inspiration to all who met and knew her. Her undying faith in God was the source of her courage and strength. She is survived by her daughters, Corinne (Keith) Silver, Rockland, N.S., Sybil (Bruce) Redden, Berwick, N.S.; grandchildren, Robert Ledson, Kenneth (Annette) Ledson, Jeremy (Heather) Ledson, Hants County, N.S., Sonia (Trevor) Reid, Dartmouth, Curt (Denise) Reashore, Barrington Passage; eight great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; many cherished nieces and nephews. Linda passed away Saturday, January 8th, 2011, at her home surrounded by love with her family and friends. Born in Glace Bay Linda was the daughter of the late Samuel "Sam" and Olga (Kelloway) Gilmet. She was a lunch and grounds supervisor with Cape Breton District School Board at St. Anne's School, Glace Bay. She had many other jobs throughout her life assisting many people through times of need. Linda was an avid card player and especially enjoyed playing Texas Hold Em with her close friends better known as "The Original 6".Linda was a very outgoing person, always smiling and never complained. In earlier years Linda would always be planning summer camping trips with her family where they would spend many hours sitting around the campfire; these were times Linda truly enjoyed. She will be missed by all. Linda is survived by her loving husband of 34 years, Michael whom she often referred to as her rock. She is also survived by her best friend and daughter, Tracie, her grandson, Jordan, whom she raised and loved as her own son, granddaughters, Jessica and Haley and her faithful pet cat, Blue, who never left her side. Linda is also survived by her sisters, Karen Kennedy, Pam Perry (Billy), Helen Toomey (Gerald), brothers, Joey Gilmet (Darlene), Sammy Gilmet (Wendy), Bobby Gilmet (Chrissy) and mother-in-law, Joan Boone, numerous sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and close friends.
