Michael was a Captain in the Canadian Army currently serving as Liaison to the US Army at DDSP/DDRE, Fairview Twp., New Cumberland and had previously served in Bosnia, Herzegovina. He was born in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia, the precious son of Michael J. and L. Marie (Brown) Aucoin of Reserve Mines, Nova Scotia. He was a graduate of Reserve District High School, Reserve Mines, Nova Scotia and St. Mary's University, Halifax, Nova Scotia. In addition to his wife and family, his passions included motorcycles, motorcycle racing and traveling the world. In addition to his parents he is survived by his loving wife Lisa L. Ball, her parents Gord and Carol and brother Ryan, along with several aunts, uncles and cousins; and many, many friends who will miss him dearly. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Joe and Dell Aucoin and his maternal grandparents, William and Louisa Brown. Born and raised in Shelburne Nova Scotia she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Catherine (Aker) Purdy (D' Entremont). Doris was a member of Carman United Church. She worked at the People's Store and Sexton's Pharmacy for many years. She enjoyed playing cards and travelling and in her earlier years she also enjoyed curling. She was an active member of the IODE. She was creative, and enjoyed sewing and knitting. Her needle points were works of art. Doris was an independent woman who was known for her sense of style. The light of her life in recent years were her great grandchildren Logan, Ethan, Liam, Allie, Eli, and Madison. Born in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late Kendall and Josephine 'Jo' (Stevens) Ferguson. Barbara was actively involved with both, provincial and federal Progressive Conservative parties, campaigning for former Ontario Premier, Bill Davis, Nova Scotia premiers, John Hamm, Senator John Buchanan and Donald Cameron, and federally for Brian Mulrooney and Jean Charest. While living in Ontario, Barbara acted as the court representative dealing with placement and adoption for Ontario's Children's Aid Society, before serving as their business administrator for five years. Upon returning to Cape Breton, she made time for the Seton Foundation Project, involved in building homes for low-income families. Barbara served on the Board of Every Woman's Centre for six years. She was president of the Injured Workers Association, personally winning over 600,000 in claims for Cape Breton injured workers. In 1998, she became involved with the Joint Action Group, as secretary and was elected vice-chair for the Health Studies Working Group. Barbara was the former owner of Star Dairy on George Street, operated a small craft business and was a certified master knitter. She was also a CASE worker, helping small business get started. Surviving are her sons, Leland, Sydney and Laurence (Sanela), London, England; sisters, Joan Killam, Alberta and Micki Burton, Halifax; brother, Kendall (Carol), Ontario; and granddaughter, Mary Lee Lewis, Ontario. Barbara was predeceased by her husband, Albert and brother, Alexander 'Sandy' Ferguson.
