Born May 11, 1942, in North Sydney, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Ethel (Burt) Lovett. (Leitches Creek). Barbara was an adherent of the United Church of Canada. She attended the Children's Hospital School of Nursing, Halifax, and worked throughout the Maritimes, most recently at Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro, NS. Barbara is survived by Scott MacGregor; sons, Bruce (Sandra), Truro; Paul (Lori) and children, Elisha, Sarah, Emily, Anna, Fergus, Ontario; daughter, Heather Parrell (Stacey) and children, Catherine and Christopher, Deep River, Ontario; son-in-law, Glenn Parrell; sisters, Carol, Audrey (Bobby), Linda, Nina, Gail (Blair); brothers, Herbert (Marilyn), Roger (Rose) and David (Linda); numerous nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, Barbara was predeceased by her brother, Paul Lovett; brother-in-law, Donald Maxwell. Barbara enjoyed spending time with family and friends and most of all enjoyed her summers at the "Old Crows Nest" with sisters Nina, Linda, Carol and Audrey in Big Pond, Cape Breton. Morley was born in Whitney Pier, son of the late Ameta Kirby (Inkpen) Crann and William Crann. Morley served during the German occupation during the Second World War with the 3rd Canadian Division 17th Duke of York, RC Huzzards. In May of 1995 he made a return trip to the Netherlands to visit with the Voit family of Holland, who billeted him for many years during the war. Morley was predeceased by his wife, Evelyn (Broadhurst) Crann, England; his son, Nelson, England; his brother, Finlay, who was killed in action, at the age of 19, while serving with the Cape Breton Highlanders at Gothie Line in Italy. Morley was also predeceased by brothers, Robert and James Inkpen; sisters, Sylvia (Manual) Inkpen, Verlie (Harry) Perry and Bella (Archie) Pike, all of Sydney. Morley is survived by his stepsons, Paul (Nadine) Jarvis and Melvin (Norma) Jarvis and four grandchildren, all of England. Living in England most of his life, Morley and his wife returned home for many visits with his family and friends. He will be sadly missed by his nieces and nephews, who remember him fondly. Born in Scotch Lake, he was a son of the late John and Mary (McBride) Stamper. For the past number of years Johnny was employed with Thrifty Propane. In his earlier years he was involved with the AA program. John enjoyed spending time fishing, repairing cars, but most of all being with his two grandsons. He was a member of St. Joseph Church, Bras d'Or. In her younger years she taught as a teacher at Mill Creek school, Sterling school, and Westmount School. She was member of St. Mary's Anglican Church. Tyler was a hard-working individual in such fields as landscaping, and seismic testing. Tyler loved the outdoors and enjoyed long walks along the beach with his best friend his dog (Goldie), he also enjoyed sports especially hockey of which he played for many years. Tyler was famous for his gleaming smile and his desire to help anyone although he struggled many years with mental illness himself. Tyler was also a volunteer with the Donkin Volunteer Fire Department and a grateful member of the AA program. Tyler is survived by his parents and brother Billy (Sherri), Lower Sackville and his sister Angela (David), Glace Bay; grandfather Duart Cooke, Donkin; nephews, David, Shayne and Brycen; niece Shaylee that held a dear place in his heart; best friend Daryl Madden and also many Aunts, Uncles and cousins. 'Petch' MacMaster, age 79, a resident of Dunstable, MA for 39 years, formerly of Tewksbury, MA, passed away on Saturday, April 16, 2011 at her daughter's home in Tewksbury. Petch was born in New Waterford, Nova Scotia, Canada on November 23, 1931, the daughter of the late Duncan MacMaster and the late Mary (Currie) MacMaster. Born and raised in New Waterford, Nova Scotia, Petch attended local schools and later attended Business College in Toronto. Petch was employed for many years by the Lowell Five Cent Savings Bank as Assistant Treasurer and Security Officer at their Lowell, MA office. She later worked for the Co-operative Bank of Concord, MA as their Assistant V.P. and Security Officer until her retirement. She was a member of numerous professional organizations including Savings Bank Women, and served as the Treasurer for N.O.W. (National Organization of Women). Petch enjoyed her home in Dunstable, baking, shopping and spending time with her family. George had a brief illness and was taken into God's Garden without too much suffering. Born in Scotchtown, he was a son of the late Vincent and Mary (MacGillivary) Walker, Scotchtown. George Pee Wee Walker was a W.W.II veteran and served in the Cape Breton Highlanders '42nd' Battalion from 1939 - 1944. He returned home and was employed with the Dominion Coal Company No. 12 from 1944 - 1963 when he suffered from a rock fall and could no longer work in the pit. In August, 1963, along side his late wife Mary T. (Bonnar) Walker he opened their first community store on Cockburn Street (14 Yard) called Mary Walker's Dairy. By 1969 George and Mary opened two more stores, one up 12 and another at the corner of Mahon and Plummer Avenue. George later went on to work for the Louisbourg Restoration Project as a commissionaire. George was an avid gardener and sports person playing both hardball and softball for several teams in the Yard. He was an experienced swimmer and enjoyed skating up until his 80th birthday. George was also a great fan of Tartan Downs raceway in Sydney and was known to bet a $2 to win, place or show. He also loved fishing with his grandsons Nolan Ryan and Jason and their friends Christopher, Jason and Angelo. On February 15, 2007, George's wife Mary and the family home were all horrifically taken by a tragic fire. He then moved in with his daughter Kim and lived with her until his sudden death. George enjoyed being around his 12 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and especially their first great granddaughter, Morgan Mary. She was a tremendous help to Kim and the family helping wherever she could to make him comfortable and happy; she always made him laugh. Surviving are daughters Maggie (Gary) Johnston, Mississauga, Ont., Susan (Keith) Pasher, Kim Walker, both of New Waterford; sons Jerry (Alvina) Walker, Tom, Kevin, all of New Waterford, Stephen 'Tah', Calgary; grandchildren, Lisa (Rick), Jason (Genevieve), Nolan Ryan (Leanne), with whom he had a special bond, Devon, Shana, Garrett, Callie (James), Craig, Lauren, Steven Jr., Jerry Jr. (Julianna), Adam 'Bull' Ashley; great-grandchildren, Morgan Mary, Hayden, Chloe, Brandon, Taylor, Ryder, Jack, Addison Mary, Ryder and Brody. George was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Besides his parents, George was predeceased by his wife Mary T. (Bonnar) Walker in a horrific fire; first born son, George B. 'Binky' Walker Jr. in 1995; sisters Jenny, Theresa, Buxie; brothers Johnny and Francis 'Turk'. Born March 20, 1940 on St. Peters Road to Fred & Jessie (MacLeod) Pledge, she married Cyril (Peter) Ball in 1983. Erma is survived by her son, Sean McIntyre (Brenda) of St. Catharines, Ontario, son, John McIntyre (Eileen) of Sydney, NS and daughter, Linda Ardelli (Peter Primeau) of Leitches Creek, NS. She is also survived by her sisters, Isabell (Jack) MacLean and Rebecca (Al) Cummings, sister-in-law, Joan Pledge, stepson, David (Sharlene) Ball, grand-daughters, Chloe, Nicole and Kiara (Steve), and step-grandchildren, Darryl and Josie. Erma was predeceased by her husband, Cyril, brothers, John and Fred Pledge, sister, Phyllis Meade and sisters-in-law, Gene and Agnes. Erma will be remembered for her years of volunteer work at Loaves & Fishes and the cancer treatment centre at the regional hospital. Many years were spent bringing a smile to the patients and staff, as she served lunch. Joining the original members of the Cape Breastoners Dragon Boat Team. Erma paddled and competed with the group for years. Always a smil, a joke and an uplifting attitude about life in general, she was a pleasure to be around. It goes without saying, she will be truly missed. There will be no visitation, cremation has taken place. A memorial to celebrate Erma's life will take place at St. Andrew's United Church in Sydney today (Saturday), April 23rd at 2 pm.
