Alexander 'Alex R' Googoo Kathryn 'Kay' MacDonald (Musgrave) Audrey (Parsons) Moskalow Timonthy Macdonald ******************************************************************************************************* Alexander 'Alex R' Googoo Born In: We'koqma'q, Nova Scotia, Canada Born On: 26/04/1936 Passed Away In: Nova Scotia, Canada Passed Away On: 31/03/2011 A well-known resident of We'koqma'q passed away peacefully, surrounded by family and friends in Victoria County Memorial Hospital in Baddeck on Thursday March 31, 2011. He was the son of late Micheal B. Googoo and late Ellen (Sylliboy). Born in We'koqma'q April 26, 1936. He was married to his first wife the late Pauline Gould of Eskasoni for 33 years. They had eight children - late Terry Googoo, Frankie, Rara, Glenda, Draw, Sheila, Vivy & Lilly. He is survived by his second wife Priscilla (Isadore) of Wagmatcook. They have three children - Gubby, Carolynn and Darryl. Also his mother-in-law Marie Basque. Alex R was a well respected member of Waycobah. He was well liked by many friends from near and afar. Alex was a journeyman, carpenter, painter, and constable for many years. Alex also serviced as an Elder's Council Member. His trades allowed him to build homes, a school, and churches in Waycobah and in Wagmatcook where he renovated other buildings and a church. His jobs included working blueberry industry, pulp industry, fisheries, as a sportsman, a former fire chief and basket maker. In his younger years, Alex enjoyed hockey, baseball, archery, etc. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren & great grandchildren. He is survived by daughters, Rara Gould (Terry), Glenda, Draw, Lilly, Vivy, Carolynn all of We'koqma'q; Sheila Williams (Daniel) of Lincoln, N.B.; stepdaughter Fallon Isadore of Wagmatcook; sons, Frankie Googoo (Shannon), Donnie and special son Dougie Paul all of We'koqma'q; Gabriel & Daryl of Wagmatcook; brothers, William Googoo of Millbrook; Bernie B. Googoo (Phyllis), Stanley B. Googoo (Betty), Henry Googoo (Binta) all of We'koqma'q; sisters, Mary B. Bernard (late Andrew), Geraldine Paul (late Michael John) of We'koqma'q, Barbara Googoo of Maine, USA, Anna K Pierro (Francis) of Wagmatcook, Germaine Martin (Philip) of Millbrook; foster sisters, Bridgette Marshall of West Bay and Matilda Koopman (Frank) of Ottawa; grandchildren Pop-I, Donnie, Tiffany, Whitney, Doris, Pauline, Lynn, Dylan, Wasuek, Desmond, Cecelia, Sondra, Diamond, Sherise, Kirk, Bailey, Hayden, Shannah (Princess), Natasha, Everette & Jessie; great-grandchildren B-Rod, Lexiney, Vada, Maylene, Joyce, Jali and Brysen. Alex was also survived by godchildren, Martin Bernard, Tiny Cremo, Noel Mike Bernard, Micky Googoo, Little Terry, Amanda Googoo, Whitney Gould and countless nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by son, Terry Googoo; brothers, Gabrieal Googoo, Ryan J. Googoo, Donald Googoo; three siblings at infancy, granddaughter, Francesca. Visitation will be held overnight in Wagmatcook Blessed Kateri Parish, Queen of the World Church after 8 p.m., Saturday, April 2, 2011 for two nights in We'koqma'q at 12 Googoo's Lane (twins house) on April 3, after 4 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held 1p.m. Tuesday April 5, in Holy Trinity Church Waycobah with Father Robert McNeil & Father Bernie MacDonald officiating. Words of comfort may be forward to the family at www.haverstocks.com. ********************************* Kathryn 'Kay' MacDonald (Musgrave) Born In: Frenchvale, Nova Scotia, Canada Passed Away In: Nova Scotia, Canada Passed Away On: 31/03/2011 The family of Kay MacDonald, regret to announce her passing, March 31, 2011 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, after a brief illness and very courageous battle. Kay was born in Frenchvale, raised in Leitches Creek and a longtime resident of Topshee Drive, Sydney. After graduating from the Cape Breton Business College, Kay was employed in the collections department of Eastern Light/Nova Scotia Power for 41 years; a job she cherished very much. Family and friends were always the central focus of Kay's life, a devoted daughter, sister, aunt, wife, mother, godmother and good friend. Kay became principle caregiver for her special brother Lloyd for 11 years after her mother's passing. Kay had strong family ties and a truly amazing circle of exceptional and loyal friends. Kay was a devote catholic and a proud member of St. Anthony Daniel Parish. Kay gave willingly of her time serving many years as a church lector, collection counter, St. Vincent De Paul Society and CWL member. Kay made many pilgrimages to the shrines in Saint-Anne de Beaupre, Quebec and Mother of Sorrows, Mabou. Kay rarely missed a wake or a funeral or sending a mass card to the sick or for a special occasion. Kay supported a variety of organizations and causes including: Larche, Cape Breton; the CB Regional Hospital Foundation; Foster Parents Plan; TV Mass, Hip Hip Hooray walk; Cancer Society, Heart and Stroke Foundation and Christmas Daddies. Kay was an avid Scottish music lover, belonged to the Gaelic Society, participated in both Gaelic and step dancing lessons. Kay enjoyed Sunday drives in the country in her new car, visiting friends, eating out and walking. She fell in love with a special little dog Rebel, that she frequently inquired about. Survived by her son Ronan, High Level, Alberta; sister, Emily (Thom) Irvine, Sydney Mines; brother-in-law Peter MacDonald, Sydney; many nieces and nephews and godchildren. Preceded by her husband of 41 years (1995), Malcolm F; parents Fred W. and Mary Jane 'Jenny' (Nolan) Musgrave; brothers: infant (Cyril), Fred, Lloyd, and Cyril. Visitation will be held at the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney, Sunday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A funeral mass to honour Kay's life will be celebrated on Monday, April 4 at 11 a.m. from St. Anthony Daniel Church, Fr. Conrad Edwards officiating. Interment will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Sydney at a later date. A reception will take place in the church hall after the service. Born in Sydney, he was the son of Norman and Lorraine (Bennett) Macdonald. Tim was the beloved son, brother, uncle and friend to a wide circle of family and friends. For most of his life, he was not in good health, but was always happy, smiling, delightful, and thrilled to make many new friends. Although unable to talk, his life spoke volumes and he communicated his love openly to others. Though small in statue, he was a giant in spirit.
