Frederick LeMoine Louis James Dove Yvonne Marie LeFort Olive Catherine Somerton ******************************************************************************************************* Adell (Collins) Powell Born in: Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada Passed away in: Somerville & Norwell, Massachusetts, United States Passed away on: 20/10/2010 Adell Bridget (Collins) Powell, formerly of Montague, P.E.I., Sydney, N.S., Canada and Somerville and Norwell, MA, died Oct. 20, 2010. She was the wife of the late Edward Powell who died in 1985. Devoted mother of Detrie and her husband Edward Vacha of Scituate, MA and son, Allan and his wife, Joan of Chelmsford, MA. Loving grandmother of Edward, Allan and Powell Vacha and Jillian Marcucci and John Powell. Adoring great-grandmother of Collin and Andrew Marcucci and Kaelyn and Alana Powell. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Best friend and companion of Ed Callahan of Dedham, MA. Frederick LeMoine Born in: Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada Born on: 22/08/1939 Passed away in: Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada Passed away on: 20/10/2010 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our loving husband, father, grandfather and brother on Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2010. Born in Sydney, he was the son of the late Harry and Maye (Cuff) LeMoine. After 30 years of dedicated service, Fred retired from the City of Sydney Police Department in 1995. He loved the outdoors and spent many hours working in his yard or tinkering in the garage. Fred also enjoyed carpentry, music and spending time with his family. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 46 years, Margaret (Maher); two sons, David (Colleen), Sydney and Freddy (Janice), Bermuda and two adoring grandchildren, Ryan and Katelyn, who were the light of his life. Fred also leaves to mourn his brother, Harry (Faye), Sydney; sisters, Vera (Don) Snow, Edmonton, Alta., Crena Bryant, Sydney, Doris (Charles) Weatherby, Dartmouth, Barbara (Jim) Oakley, Summerside, P.E.I.; father-in-law, Alfred Maher and extended family of brothers and sisters-in-law and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Doug LeMoine; mother-in-law, Lucy Maher and brother-in-law, George Bryant. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Fred's life will take place Sunday, Oct. 24, 2010, after 2 p.m., at the family home, 1976 Morrison Road, Sydney. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.sydneymemorialchapel.ca. ****************************************** Louis James Dove Born in: Sydney Mines, Nova Scotia, Canada Born on: 07/04/1931 Passed away in: Sydney Mines, Nova Scotia, Canada Passed away on: 20/10/2010 It is with deep regret that we announce the passing of Louis James Dove, 79, of Sydney Mines, on Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2010, at the Northside General Hospital. Born in Sydney Mines on April 7, 1931, Lou was the son of the late George and Clara (Guest) Dove. Lou was retired from the Cape Breton Development Corporation. He enjoyed and spent many hours gardening, hunting, fishing and his favourite - shopping for a bargain. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Lou is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Alleine (Pye) Dove; four children, Linda and Blair (Helene Reashore), both of North Sydney, Debbie (Lenny Blagdon), Amherst and Wanda (Terry Dandy), Sydney Mines; his four grandchildren, Ambrose (Alycia) and William Jessome, Shane Dove-Blagdon and Aaron Dandy. He is also survived by his great-granddaughter, Payton Jessome and her sister Kylie. Besides his parents, Lou was predeceased by a son, George; sisters, Clara, Helen (Nellie) and Beatrice; brothers, William and Richard and two sisters in infancy. Special thanks to Dr. M. McKeough, Dr. D. Miller, the 4th Floor Palliative Care Unit, Northside General Hospital, especially the nurses and staff, and the staff of the Harbourview Hospital Rehab Center, for their great care and compassion. Thanks also go out to his long-time neighbour, Nelson McInnis for his many acts of kindness. At Lou's request, there will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place. The funeral service will be held on Monday, Oct. 25, 2010, at 2 p.m. in Trinity Anglican Church, Sydney Mines, with Rev. Peter Rafuse officiating. Following the service, interment will take place in Brookside Cemetery, Sydney Mines. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of J. M. Jobes Funeral Home, Main St., Sydney Mines. Born in Cheticamp, she was the daughter of the late Auguste and Helene (Chiasson) LeBlanc. Yvonne dedicated her life to her husband and family. She was a loving mother to her children and grandchildren. She had a very positive outlook on life. She always loved to cook. God must have needed her in heaven to cook fricot and meat pies for himself and all his angels. She is survived by seven sons, Raymond (Colette), Sydney, Daniel (Yvonne), Leonard (Gloria), Angus (Carmel), all of Cheticamp, Roland (Amy), Fort McMurray, Eric (Barbara), Whycocomagh, and David, Edmonton, Alta.; three daughters, Irma (Richard) McGuinness, Portland, Me., Linda (Gord) Wiebe, Edmonton, Albertine Payne, Ottawa; one sister, Marguerite Lahey, Sydney; 24 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Patsy LeFort, seven brothers, Edmond LeBlanc, Severin LeBlanc, Joseph LeBlanc, Padde John LeBlanc, Willie LeBlanc, Dave LeBlanc and Albert LeBlanc. Olive passed away at the Glace Bay Hospital surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2010. Born in Reserve Mines, she was the daughter of the late Alex and Annie Mae (MacNeil) Gallant, and was a member of St. John's Church, New Aberdeen. Olive was a former resident of the Hub. Her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her family, watching the Toronto Blue Jays and listening to music especially Daniel O'Donnell. Olive is survived by her sons, Joey (Eleanor), Gerald (Bev), Bernie (Brenda), Wayne (Frances); daughters, Karen, with whom she resided, Corrine (Myles) Waidson; and a very special grandson, Dwayne (Andrea), whom she raised as her own son; brothers, Cyril and Earl; sister, Bernice; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; one great great-grandson; numerous nieces and nephews. A special thank you to mom's best friend and daughter-in-law, Brenda for all she did to help her throughout the years. Olive was predeceased by her husband, Harold, brothers, Jimmy and Sheldon, sisters, Verna and Margaret and grandson, Darren in infancy. Visitation will be held today, Oct. 22 at Curry's Funeral Home, 775 Main St., Glace Bay, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held Saturday, Oct. 23rd at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Fr.
