Sonya Kazyss Jean McLean Irene 'Rene' LaBelle Mildred 'Nanny' Young Florence McNeil ******************************************************************************************************* Sonya Kazyss Born on: 01/05/1964 Passed away in: Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada Passed away on: 16/09/2010 It is with great sadness we announce the loss of our Sonya after her courageous battle with cancer, which she faced with bravery, dignity and strength. Sonya's life journey took her from Peterborough, Toronto, Ottawa, Victoria, before settling in Kelowna. After obtaining her fine arts degree from UBC Kelowna, she devoted herself to bringing art therapy to those with disabilities. Everywhere she stopped she discovered many beautiful people who brought her much joy. We will always remember her loyalty, her sparkly and loving personality and her remarkable courage. Sonya was predeceased by her sister Jillian and is survived by husband, Michael, mother Marylou, father, John, sister, Stephanie, nephew, Quinn, 6, niece, Jenna, 4, brother-in-law, Todd and stepfather, Alan. We wish to extend our appreciation and gratitude to family, friends who helped and supported her through this trying time. A celebration of Sonya's life will be held on Oct. 16, 2010, at the Canadian Mental Health Association, Art Studio in Kelowna, 1-4 p.m. with a short time of sharing beginning at 2 p.m. Donations on Sonya's behalf may be made to same. ************************************************* Jean McLean Born in: New Waterford, Nova Scotia, Canada Passed away in: Baddeck, Nova Scotia, Canada Passed away on: 30/09/2010 Jean Winnifred McLean, 94 of Alderwood Rest Home, Baddeck, peacefully died Sept. 30, 2010 at the Alderwood Rest Home. Born in New Waterford, she was the daughter of the late Daniel Hugh and Winnifred (O'Connor) McLean. She is survived by sisters, Theresa (MacKimmie) Chappell, Halifax; nieces, Linda, Doris, Irene and Patricia. She was predeceased by sisters, Gertrude Gillis and Margaret Sullivan; brothers, Jim and Douglas. Arrangements for a graveside service at Mount Carmel Cemetery, New Waterford will be made at a later date. As an expression of sympathy, donations to a charity of ones chioce would be greatly appreciated. Arrangements under the direction of MacAskill Funeral Home, Baddeck. **************************************************** Irene 'Rene' LaBelle Born in: Glace Bay, Nova Scotia, Canada Passed away in: Glace Bay, Nova Scotia, Canada Passed away on: 01/10/2010 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Rene LaBelle on October 1, 2010 at the Glace Bay Healthcare Complex surrounded by her loving family. Born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of the late Clifford and Esther (Murphy) Andrews. She and Clarence were the owners and operators of LaBelle's Dairy for 30 years. Rene enjoyed her monthly outings with Mansie, as well as spending time with her family and friends. Rene is survived by her son, Mansie LaBelle (Vella Fraser); three grandchildren, Brendan LaBelle, Susan LaBelle, both of Halifax, Judy LaBelle, Dubai; great granddaughter, Emelia Hurtle. She is also survived by her sister, Mary (Eddie) Carroll; brother, Tommy (Theresa) Andrews; sister-in-law, Dolores Andrews, all of Glace Bay, as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Clarence; sister, Vivian 'Dunnie' Virtue; brother, Joseph 'Booie' Andrews and her companion, Pat Brown. Visitation will be held Monday October 4, 2010 at the S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney, from 12-2 p.m. Funeral service will take place 2 p.m. following the visitation in the funeral home chapel with Mr. Kirk Neville officiating. Born September 4, 1936 in Sydney Mines she was a daughter of the late Carl and Helen (Donovan) Morgan. Mildred enjoyed music, dancing and her family, especially her grandchildren. She is survived by husband, Daniel; sons, Doug (Glenda) Marsh, Billy (Colleen) Young, Troy (Bonnie) Young, all of Sydney Mines; sisters, Jean (Bob) MacGean, Yvonne (Doug) Serroul; brothers, Wallace (Dorothy) Morgan, Clarence Morgan, Carl (Lillian) Morgan; grandchildren, Adam, Ashley Dawn, Alyssa, Dylan, Evan, Gracie, Ashlea, Ceilidh and Cody; brothers-in-law, Melvin MacGean and Harley Mills; several nieces and nephews. Born in Dominion and formerly of Reserve Mines, she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Florence (Powell) McNeil. Florence was a member of St. Joseph's parish, Reserve Mines. She is survived by her daughter, Lois (Dannie) Currie, Reserve Mines; sons, John (Kimberley) MacNeil, Reserve Mines, Michael (Marsha) MacNeil, Gardiner Mines, Sheldon MacNeil, Keith (Roseanne) MacNeil, Ontario, Billy MacNeil, Sydney; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brother, Sheldon (Linda) McNeil, Earl McNeil; sisters, Shirley MacNeil, Mary Saccary, Lois (Albert) McLean.
