Terrance Wallace Binder Peter 'Lalo' Paul Sharon (Donovan) Williams Sharon Pearo ******************************************************************************************************* Terrance Wallace Binder Born in: Glace Bay, Nova Scotia, Canada Passed away in: Glace Bay, Nova Scotia, Canada Passed away on: 02/10/2010 It is with broken hearts that we, the family of Terry Wallace Binder announce his passing on Oct. 2, 2010, at the Glace Bay Hospital, in the arms of his loving family. Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late John and Christina (McInnis) Binder and was a member of St. Leo's Church in Glace Bay. During his lifetime, he was employed with Devco for 38 years, enjoying his membership in both the Colliery and Commercial League bowling. He also enjoyed playing pool and a good game of 45s. He was an avid follower of the Leafs and Blue Jays. Terry was also a lifetime member of the Glace Bay Pensioners where he served as secretary treasurer. Terry was a quiet man of very few words who will be truly remembered as a 'Total Family Man.' Terry will be sadly missed by his wife, the love of his life for the past 55 years, Bea (Rogers) Binder; sons, Terry (Donna), Todd (Laurie), both of Glace Bay; daughter, Tane (Gerard Canning), British Columbia; grandchildren, Amber, Jade, Tristan, Donald, Angus, all of Glace Bay, Dakota and Keegan, British Columbia, David, Manitoba; great-grandchildren, Hannah, Brandon and Maddex. Also surviving Terry is his only sister, Norma (Simon) MacLean, Glace Bay; brother, Allisdair (Barb), Halifax; and sisters-in-law, Bonnie and Monica Binder; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Terry was predeceased by brothers, Eddie, Ray, Skippy and grandson, Brandon. Visitation for Terry will be held Thursday, Oct. 7 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. The funeral mass officiated by Fr. Leo Boone is Friday, Oct. 8 at 11 a.m. in St. Leo's Church, Glace Bay, followed by interment in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens, Sydney. All are invited to join the family for a reception in the church hall. Memorial donations in Terry's memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society or to the St. Leo's Building Fund. Born in Sydney, he was the son of the late Peter Paul Sr. and Mary (Battiste) Paul. He was a member of Holy Family parish, Eskasoni. Peter was devoted to his A.A. group meetings where he was active not just for his sake, but for many others in the group since 1985. He is survived by two sons, Richard Stevens, Eskasoni, Derek Wells, Victoria, B.C.; two granddaughters, Shaelyn and Ashlyn; four brothers, John Jerome (Sharon), Sylvester (Brenda), both of Eskasoni, Gary (Jeanette), Dartmouth, Peter Marble-Paul, Indian Brook; nine sisters, Grace (George) Sylliboy, Bridget Paul, Patricia Morris, Loretta (Ben) Sylliboy, Arlene (Spencer) Stevens, Mary (Gerry) Marshall, Florence (Steve) Dennis, Jackie (Allan) Young, Rita Isaac, all of Eskasoni and by several maternal and paternal aunts. He will be sadly missed by his best friend, Keith Julien of Millbrook. He was predeceased by sister, Josephine in infancy. Sharon was born in Ingonish Beach on April 23, 1946, to Walter and Margaret (Williams) Donovan. She was a devoted nurse both professionally and to those who needed care in her community. For many years Sharon was an employee of Buchanan Memorial Hospital and completed her career at the Highland Manor Nursing Home, retiring in 2001. Sharon was first and foremost a wife, mother, granny, sister and true friend to all who knew her. Sharon is survived by her husband, Fred Williams; and sons, Trevor (Karla), Halifax, Cory (Anita), Ingonish; grandchildren, Tessa and Jonah, Halifax, and Gabrielle and Ira, Ingonish; sisters, Rosemary LaRusic (John), Ann Hussey (Keith), Ingonish, Paula Mayich (John), Lower Sackville; brothers, Bill Donovan (Jan), Roland Donovan (Mary), both of North Sydney, Kenny Donovan (Rose), Ingonish Beach; stepsisters, Betty McInnis, Toronto, Sylvia Lowes (Larry), Clarksburg, Ont., Cecilia Shoniker (John), Kingston, Ont., Bernadette Joseph (Bobby), Anna Radzikowski (Vince), Sydney; stepbrothers, Curtis Whalen, Sydney, Leonard Whalen (Barbara), Ottawa. Sharon is also survived by her mother-in-law, Jean Williams, Highland Manor, Neil's Harbour. Sharon's kind heart and spirit will be remembered by all who knew her. Sharon was predeceased by her parents and father-in-law, Owen Williams. There will be no visitation. Sharon's life will be celebrated in a service held at St. Peter's Parish Church, Ingonish Beach, Friday, Oct. 8, 2010, at 11 a.m., Fr. Dan MacDonald officiating. Sharon passed away on Sunday, Oct. 3, 2010, with her loving family at her side. Born in Baddeck on Feb. 4, 1960, she was the daughter of the late John Malcolm and Mildred (MacRitchie) Ellis, Little Narrows. Sharon was employed as human resources co-ordinator at Little Narrows Gypsum for the past 18 years, where she forged many life lasting friendships. She was a member of Stewart United Church, Whycocomagh, where she served on the finance committee. She was also a member of the board of directors of the Whycocomagh Co-op and volunteered for many organizations over the years. She was known for her great sense of humour and was a generous, kind, caring and compassionate individual, who gave to all so freely. Sharon loved to laugh, loved to give and loved to love "she was the best." She is survived by her devoted husband and best friend of 31 years, Johnnie Pearo; her beloved children, Allison (Frank) MacCalder, Jonathan (Nadine) Pearo and the sunshine of her life, granddaughters, Lily Marie and Emma Grace MacCalder. She is also survived by sisters, Glenda (Calvin) Matthews, Murdell (Larry) MacNeil; brother, Ritchie (Sally) Ellis and special sister-in-law, Margie Ellis. Also left to mourn are sisters-in-law, Shirley (Frankie) Chandler, Patsy (Donald) MacDonald, Diane Rouse, Wilma (Ross) Matheson, Melody (Kenny) Ferguson; brothers-in-law, Timmy (Linda) Pearo, Sheldon (Tonya) Pearo; many special nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Sharon was predeceased by brother, Gary, mother and father-in-law, Sam and Peggy Pearo, sister-in-law, Elaine Campbell and brother-in-law, Gordon Rouse. Visitation will be held from 2-9 p.m., Wednesday in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Whycocomagh. A celebration of Sharon's life will be held 11 a.m., Thursday in Stewart United Church with Rev. Donna Tourneur officiating. Burial in Stewartdale Cemetery. Family flowers only please. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to a charity of your choice.
