Born in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Florence May (Gracie) Cameron. She is survived by her daughter, Ann Marie (Greig) LeDrew; son, Brian (Paula) Arsenault, both of Sydney; her grandchildren, Robert, Ont., Craig, Sara LeDrew, Michael, Jenna and Janis Arsenault, all of Sydney; one great-grandchild, Matt LeDrew; her sister-in-law, Joan Cameron, Sydney as well as many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Leslie 'Les' Arsenault, (1993); son, Michael; sister, Rose Hendrie; brothers, Milburn and Martin. There will be no visitation. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of... **************************************** Colleen (McDonald) Martin Born in: Glace Bay, Nova Scotia, Canada Passed away in: Glace Bay, Nova Scotia, Canada Passed away on: 16/10/2010 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our loving mother, Colleen Martin, 62, of Glace Bay on Saturday, Oct. 16, 2010. Born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of the late Harvey and Elizabeth (Campbell) McDonald. Colleen was a member of St. John's Church, New Aberdeen. She was employed for many years at the fish plant while raising her six children with her husband, George Martin. Colleen a member of the legion where she would attend on occasion with her husband who was a veteran. She was a very loving person. Colleen was a beautiful woman and would help you in any way she could. She loved her dogs, Missy and Lilly and her little cat, Samantha, they were her reason for being every day. Colleen has six children and a family who will miss her every day. Colleen looked forward to the dart leagues every year and would enjoy her time out with friends and she had many who loved her. She will be truly missed by all. Colleen will be sadly missed by her daughters, Nancy (Rob), Sylvia (John), Brenda, Ila; sons, Patrick, Tommy (Karen), George (Lynn), Jimmer (Ericka), Steven (Lisa), Norman (Cheryl) and Brian; brothers, Joey McDonald (Judy), Reggie McDonald (Millie); sisters, Margie Morrison (Ray), Denise Clarkson (Gerald) and Nancy Ellsworth (Bernie). Also surviving are 34 cherished grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her loving husband, George 'Hogie' Martin and brother, James McDonald. Visitation for Colleen will be held Wednesday, 7-9 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. A funeral mass will be celebrated 2 p.m. on Thursday at St. John's Church, New Aberdeen with Fr. Leo Boone officiating. Cremation will follow. Interment will be held in the parish cemetery. Online condolences to the Martin family are available through www.vjmcgillivray.ca. ****************************************** Bernard Steele Born in: Dominion, Nova Scotia, Canada Passed away in: Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada Passed away on: 19/10/2010 Died Oct. 19, 2010, in the QEII Health Sciences Centre, after a short illness. He was born in Dominion, Cape Breton, and was the son of the late Michael and Mary Anne (Sutherland) Steele. He was predeceased by his wife, Theresa (McArthur) in 2007. He is survived by his daughter, Dr. Leone Steele. He is also survived by sisters, Mae McVeigh, Sr. Florence Steele, Genevieve Gromack, Theresa Steele and by brothers, Dan and Joe Steele. He was also predeceased by sisters, Evelyn McKinnon and brothers, Fr. Harvey and Angus Steele. He graduated in Arts from St. Francis Xavier University and in medicine from the University of Ottawa. Prior to completing a residency in surgery, he was a general practitioner in Inverness and New Waterford. For over 30 years he was a surgeon in Halifax and taught at Dalhousie University Medical School. He was president of the Medical Society of Nova Scotia, president of the Provincial Medical Board and registrar of the Provincial Medical Board, prior to his retirement. Cremation has taken place, under the direction of J.A. Snow Funeral Home. There will be no visitation. Funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 23, 2010, in St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Halifax. Born in North Sydney, he was the son of the late Maurice and Mary (Fraser) Capstick. He was a truck driver and mechanic all his life and worked in the family business, Capstick's Trucking. Brendon was the kind of man who liked everyone and was always ready and willing to help anyone. Brendon loved to drive tractor trailers and to spend time with his family and friends, and his dog 'Lady'. He was a member of St. Joseph Church, Bras d'Or. Brendon is survived by his wife, Mary (Strickland); his two sons, Brendon Jr. and Billy; his mother-in-law, Vera Strickland, whom he loved and cared for very much. He is also survived by his brothers, Tommy (Wendy) Capstick, Joey Capstick, Billy (Audrey) Capstick, Maurice Gerard (Lisa) Capstick and his sisters, Colleen Capstick and Rachelle (Lloyd) Brown; his two precious grandchildren, Logan and Madison, who were his pride and joy. He is also survived by his aunt, Sally Mansfield; uncle, John Wille Fraser and his nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his father-in-law, Ralph Strickland. The family would like to express sincere thanks to Brendon's caregivers, especially Dr. Eugene Ignacio, the V.O.N. and the doctors in Halifax. A private visitation will be held.
