Morrison Eileen Marie Shepard ******************************************************************************************************* Catherine Rhodena MacLellan Born in: Ottawa Brook, Nova Scotia, Canada Born on: 13/10/1928 Passed away in: Ottawa Brook, Nova Scotia, Canada Passed away on: 26/10/2010 It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Catherine Rhodena MacLellan 'Nanny Brook' of Ottawa Brook on Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2010, at her home. Mommy was born Oct. 13, 1928, at Ottawa Brook, to the late Sarah Ann (MacNeil) and Dan John 'Doctor' MacNeil. She was a wife to Peter Allan MacLellan from Aug. 9, 1949 until his passing on Oct. 5, 1974. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church and an associate member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 124. She is survived by children, Charlotte (David) MacAulay and their children, Alexander (Kate) and their daughter, Sophia; David (Julia) and their daughter, Clara; Kristen (Mark) Conrad, Donald (Arlene) and their children, Peter (Erin) and Anne (Colby); Judy (Danny MacNeil); Rosaire (Robert) MacKinnon and their children, Crista, Robby and Emily; Neila (Carlyle) MacNeil; Stanley (Neila) and their daughter, Lily Rhodena; David (Phyllis) and their children, Kaleb and Logan; Harriet (Greg) Lidgett and their children, Joseph and Neila. She is also survived by her only brother, Michael Joseph 'Shortie' MacNeil and many nieces, nephews and godchildren. Rhodena was predeceased by her husband, her parents, her only sister, Isabel (Alfred) MacLean and sister-in-law, Annie (Shortie) MacNeil. Visitation will be held at St. Columba Parish Centre from 3-9 p.m., Friday, Oct. 29, 2010. Funeral will be held at St Columba Parish Church, Saturday, Oct. 30, 2010, at 11 a.m. with Fr. Paul Abbass officiating. Burial at Sacred Heart Mission Cemetery MacKinnon Harbour. Donations may be made to Sacred Heart Cemetery or a charity of choice. "Chi sinn thu .." ***************************************** Decima (Anthony) Butler Born in: Clarkes Beach, Newfoundland, Canada Born on: 07/01/1915 Passed away in: Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada Passed away on: 27/10/2010 Decima Butler, age 95, passed away peacefully at Harbourstone Enhanced Care (LeVatte's Lane) with family at her side. Decima was born in Clarkes Beach, Nfld. and moved to Cape Breton in 1945. She was the loving mother to four children, Robert, Wayne (Sharon), Muriel (Wallace) Robert and Ruby Ferguson. Also surviving are her daughter-in-law, June Butler; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Decima was predeceased by her parents, Matthew and Mary Grace Anthony; husband, John Robert; son, Malcolm Charles; daughter, Mary Catherine; sisters, Pearl, Elizabeth and Bertha; brother in infancy; son-in-law, Alec Ferguson; granddaughter, Arlene and great-grandson, Shane. Visitation will take place at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A funeral service will be held in the chapel on Monday 11 a.m., with Rev. Thomas Whent officiating. Interment in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Palliative Care Unit at the CBRH, Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of choice. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.sydneymemorialchapel.ca. **************************************** George 'Robin' MacNeil Born in: Glace Bay, Nova Scotia, Canada Passed away in: Reserve Mines, Nova Scotia, Canada Passed away on: 25/10/2010 It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our brother George MacNeil, age 72. George passed away on Monday, Oct. 25, 2010, at his residence. Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late Murdock and Mary (Hache) MacNeil and was a member of St. Joseph's Church, Reserve Mines. Earlier in his life Robin worked in Ontario for a number of years, returning to Reserve Mines due to poor health. While residing in Reserve he drove for Hache's taxi, a job he truly enjoyed, because he was a very friendly person and loved meeting people. In his spare time Robin could be seen watching local softball games in Reserve and was an avid Montreal Canadiens fan. He will mainly be remembered as a fun loving person with a great sense of humour. George will be sadly missed by his brothers, Cecil (Dorothy), Ontario, Bernie (Marie), Cole Harbour, Manzie (Chrissie), Dominion; sisters, Betty Manuel, Ottawa, Josie Forward, New Waterford; uncle, Simon 'Sako' Hache; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, George was predeceased by a brother, Lawrence. In honouring George's wishes, there will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. A funeral service will be celebrated 11 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 30, 2010, in the funeral home chapel with Fr. Danny Boudreau officiating. There will be a private family interment at a later date. Donations in George's memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Nova Scotia Lung Association. Born in Gabarus, she was the daughter of the late John and Mamie (MacIsaac) Martin. Irene was a member of Zion United Church, Gabarus. She enjoyed spending time with her family. Irene enjoyed going to Bingo, flea markets and yard sales. She is survived by her children, Diane (Abby), Catalone, Sadie (Louis), Port Hawksbury, Margie, East Bay, Darlene, Grand Mira North, John Phillip, Gabarus. She is also survived by her sisters, Gladys Matthews, Adeline Hollohan, Cassie Clark; brother, Lloyd Martin; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Alexander, sisters, Mamie and Mary, brothers, Robert, Ernie, Reggie, Stanley, Lawrence, Johnnie. There will be no visitation by request. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 29 at the Zion United Church, Gabarus, with Rev. Robert Hussey officiating. Burial will follow in Gabarus Lake Cemetery, Gabarus. Morrison Born in: North Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada Passed away in: Sydney Mines, Nova Scotia, Canada Passed away on: 26/10/2010 It is with deep sadness that we the family, announce the passing of our loving mother, grandmother and sister Miriam Morrison on Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2010, at the Northside General Hospital, with her family by her side. Born in North Sydney, she was the daughter of the late John and Anna Morrison. Miriam was employed for 35 years at Bell Aliant in Sydney. She was a member of St. Joseph's parish, North Sydney. She is survived by her son, William (Tracey); sisters, Phemia, Mary Lee (Fraser); and her brother, Gerard (Colette). Also left to mourn are her four grandchildren, whom she cherished, Kelsey, Kale, Emma Kate and Catherine. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Gerard Morrison, sisters, Theresa, Catherine, Ann Winnifred and brother, James. There will be no visitation as per Miriam's request. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Francis Funeral Home in Sydney Mines.
